What are some specific reasons you prefer the ak platform over the ar platform

I am a hipster and I like to be a different snowflake. Pretty much that, I like how it’s more difficult to modernize AKs, I just like how niche they are.
>>
>>62622642
I have never seen an AK turn into a straight pull manual action rifle in the middle of a shooting course
>>
>>62622642
>.30 cal
>123 grn projectile not as reliant on velocity gimmick to be effective better in shorter barrels and far superior barrier penetration
>long stroke piston just works
>just more cool and aesthetic in general
>symbol of rebellion instead of symbol of zogbot soulless conformity
>basically a red lightsaber in gun form
>made of steel not aluminum or polymer

It’s the Les Paul to the ar’s fender stratocaster

I recently kneeled to 5.56 after 10 years of AK use but I will say one big advantage 7.62x39 AKs have is penetration in woodland environments.

Hardly these days, the aftermarket is pretty sizeable.
>>
>>62622642
they aren't as likely to not work due to oil evaporating/dripping off after long term storage, if for some reason you were wanting to store a rifle for years on end and expect to be able to shoot it at a moments notice

otherwise there is not a good reason

cope from a noguns who one day wishes to own an ak to look different

I don't

5.56 is pencil dick 7.62x39 is chode cock
Bakelite drips harder
Made in Russia
No stupid shit like floppy dust cover and forward assist
Rock in mag locks every time without smacking anything and drops free every time
Mag release design naturally ambi and also just better cause its not a gay button
Way easier to make full auto (legit or not)
Better for lefty shooters (me)
Insanely easy to tune reliability and felt recoil, no dumb gay A5 captured flatwire tungsten carbine buffer coping

Yeah thats about it off the top of the dome

What can are you rocking on that MP5 clone, Anon? Looks nice.

>>62623107
Which AK?
Beryl has the Beryl telescopic stock
WBP has the KPYK stock
>>
>>62622642
i prefer no specific rifle because i am a casual, civilian gun owner. I like AKs.

>longer bolt travel behind magazine quaranteeing a larger window of reliable operation
>slighty higher BCG mass for higher reliability
>simpler disassembly and maintenance/cleaning
>bolt pre-engagement stop shelf to reduce friction
>cammed locking surfaces for primary extraction and lockup
>rock in magazine with a pivoting mag catch for leverage and not freezing in the cold
Those are some of the pros.

the AK just makes more sense to my monkey brain. no matter how much you dress it up its 40s tech, and I like old guns.

I never understood why ppl buy an AK when they can have a VZ 58 instead.

I just like notch sights, rock-in mags, and a reciprocating charging handle. The manual of arms for the AR, is kinda wonky with the double finger pullback, release button, mag slap, and honestly I just don't really like peep sights.

AK is simple stupid. AR is also good.
>>
>>62622642
The lack of a buffer tube in the stock allows for side folding stocks, and because of the gas piston system, they don't need to be cleaned as often. I also don't often have the opportunity to shoot at distances where the flatter trajectory of the AR would benefit me much.
>>
>>62625683
I own both, though my Vz. 58 is in .223
A boon now that steel case is nearly extinct, a lot more ammo options this way
>>
On purely aesthetic grounds the Galil is one of the very best. Maybe not quite the best though, because the SG550 is pretty cool looking (never seen one in person though).
>>
>>62622798

after shooting in thick brush recently this became very apparent.
its crazy how a stick can ruin a 556 shot.
