When deployed in sufficient volume, no.

If the Iranians had added a zero after the number of missiles they shot at Israel tonight, they’d have had the chance to do serious damage. Granted, it’d have invited strategic reprisals, but he who doesn’t take risks, doesn’t drink champagne.

Say it with me. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS
>>
>>62625638
You're right of course. The most effective weapons the taliban had in afghanistan were cultural affinity, a safe haven in pakistan as well as a pool of millions of pashtun in the tribal region of pakistan to draw recruits from, a willingness to take huge numbers of casualties, but most of all the ideological commitment to see the war as a multi-generational struggle and the ability to transmit that ideology to enough people.

It's important to note that the population of afghanistan literally doubled from 2001 to 2021 from twenty some million to over 40 million. Half the country was born after 9/11. That had a lot of implications, Implying them.
>>
>>62625638
>Then how did you lose to them in afghanistan
because of the retarded nation building goal, getting mudslimes to behave like civilized human beings is impossible
>>
>>62625657
The taliban defeated the Afghan national army in battle. And there were multiple districts of the country that remained in their control throughout the war, not to mention that the maps of control show a steady takeover of the country over the course of more than a year before the collapse. Now you could be pedantic and say well they never won a decisive battle against US/nato forces and you would probably be right. Doesn't make any of the above any less true.

>>62625638
>hundreds of billions
it was at most 7billion, which is still a lot but whatever. It's not like the taliban knows how to keep that shit in working order. I don't know what they plan on doing with 20,000 humvees because they can barely feed their own troops, I doubt they can pay for the gas or upkeep. The only things they can use are the mortars and small arms.

The US left Afghanistan because the afghani people showed that they don't care to fight their own battles. They really don't give a fuck to live under Taliban rule no matter how awful it is. Muslims have shit lives and they just don't care. The entire middle east is just filled with people that don't care whether they live or die, they have all pretty much given up on life.

Are these just the upper stage boosters? Do the warheads seperate before reentry?
I'm assuming Iran used a 2 stage MRBM.

Both look relatively undamaged, I'D expect a high-altitude intercept to cause them to tumble and thus break apart to some degree when hitting the thicker parts of teh atmosphere.

it's booster and upper stages.
MRBM usually only need a booster -- no upper stages.
booster will separate while still in atmosphere but then be on a similar trajectory as the warhead.

No but they are incredibly expensive and difficult to make reliable both to build and maintain. Cost to payload ratio is atrocious.

Really? My dad used to make bottle rockets and fire them off from our front yard all the time. A ballistic missile is essentially the same thing. It's just bigger.

The sound and fury of the attack was all that was needed in the eyes of those who matter most to Iran right now. Iran has been using ballistic missiles as their go to power projection (not counting the axis) when they need to directly make a statement. They've launched against Israel, Pakistan, and Iraqi kurdistan this year.

Unlike third world armies, the Israelis actually have armored hangars to put their stuff in, and Iranian missiles are still nowhere near as accurate as the weapons used to delete the Iraqi airforce (who did have armored hangars) some two decades ago.

The tech disparity remains laughable and all conflicts in the sandbox remain a farce.

They are somewhere between Mark 82 to maybe Mark 83(I may be exaggerating about mark 83, giving too much credit) but they are not as accurate as bombs with kits.

In general, although some of the missiles hit the target, many missed or were intercepted.

The attack was ineffective on purpose. Probably just a show for Hezbullah supporters. As you know, Israeli BMD determines if a missile can hit something substantial before starting countermeassures. Here we see quite a few impacts, which means they were mostly directed towards empty areas. Seeing that there was no real damage done, Israel is also not forced to answer with a destructive retalliatory strike.
tl;dr nothing ever really happens.

The iranians did a dumb thing. Once the israelis get a notice of an incoming missile strike from US units stationed in the gulf, they send every aircraft they have into the air to dodge the missiles. The smarter thing would have been to bomb the israeli military industry, ammo dumps and the intel chip foundry. These are strategic, immobile targets that are critical to the jewish state.

The most effective Taliban weapon, a weapon that the US never overcame, was their deep contempt for America and American culture. To the Taliban, americans are nothing but untermensch. America managed to sabotage them by digging wells into fossile water, which will lead to a population boom from increased agriculture, until the fossile water runs out, and then you get a mass starvation event and a rapefugee wave. Guess where that wave will go.

That's not what happened, the USA (and allies) went in and murdered the shit out of the taliban to the point they basically gave up any attacks at all using firearms. The US got bored, killed bin laden and decided to leave. It was not anything like Vietnam in terms of fighting either. You halwitted ragheads really like to gargle your own shit far too much. So Iran fires half their ballistic arsenal at Israel and all they manage is to swat one guy with a rocket booster. That opens a few questions to me?
Is Israel lying and they did a lot more damage? Possible but unlikely given the amount of mobile phones
Is Iran fucking inept and can't hit for shit? Definitely, but they still should have hit something statistically
Did Iran feign the attack and deliberately hit sand in the desert just to save face with their muzzies but not start a war they'd lose with Israel? My money is on this one

>The smarter thing would have been to bomb the israeli military industry, ammo dumps and the intel chip foundry. These are strategic, immobile targets that are critical to the jewish state.
An actual counterforce strike would basically guarantee Israel goes on a full war footing against Iran. So far this is looking like a repeat of the first salvo where Iran saturates missile attacks at certain military targets to project the illusion of strength.

This is also the reason why Israel hasn't just gone and blown the shit out of Iran's nuclear plants despite having demonstrated they have bunker buster capabilities. They don't want Iran to go into a full war footing, at least not until they've mopped up Hamas and Hezbollah.
>>

Iran is not inept, their missiles are probably something like v2 level of competence, which is no small feat for a shitty third world country. Sadly, they are against one of the most, if not the most advanced and developed missile shield in history.
Israel is literally one of the most funded, most experienced and most motivated in missile defense.

Again, decent accomplishment for Iran, but they should put their energy in killing their child rapist extremist who put them back in the stone age instead of trying to meddle with a war thats far away from them
>>

>An actual counterforce strike would basically guarantee Israel goes on a full war footing against Iran.

You mean countervalue because this was a counterforce strike against military and intelligence targets. But these were not very efficient, since at most they destroyed a couple of empty buildings due to the advance warning from USN assets in the gulf. If these strikes were meant to stop Bibi's warmongering, they were meaningless. Dropping warheads on immobile essential value targets is far better as this will cut into the jewish state's flesh. In the coming Iran war you will see USAF wrecking iranian power plants, factories, railroad yards, bridges and more.

defending Israel usually gets you a presidential citation:
"Following the April 13-14 operation, the President of the United States called the Commanding Officers of both the 335th FS and 494th FS. The President commended the F-15E squadrons for their excellent airmanship and piloting skills in defense of Israel and US military personnel in the AOR."
