Took two guns to the range today. Brand new sig p365 and a crusty 1911 Series 80.

Put 100 rounds through the sig no problem. The 1911 on the other hand would fire, load the next round, but the slide wouldn't return fully. I could push it with the back of my thumb and it would then fire.

First time I've fired this gun, got it from a friend's dad. Not sure the last time it was fired.

Does it just need a deep cleaning?

I did find it interesting that there seemed to be less recoil from the 1911 compared to the sig. I assume that's because it's a fatty fatty two by four?

My range buddy with the 365 macro was maybe 350 and carried his with a wing. Wing attachments pull the end of the handgun grip in towards your body helping it print less, it shouldn't add to discomfort at all as it indexes off your pants not your body.

Why are you yelling?

likely has a super old recoil spring and can't get it back in battery.

>On most Government (5") size guns, we suggest you use a 17# to 18.5# spring for standard factory ammunition (2,000 rounds). If you plan on having an extended shooting session using hot or +P ammo, then opt for the 20# spring.
>>
>>62795269
Bet seriously, clean it up really well. You may consider replacing the recoil spring. The next time you go out, grab each end and stretch it out. If that fixes your problem, just order a new one.

>less recoil from the 1911 compared to the sig
That's the benefit of full size and heavy vs small and light polymer. Theoretically polymer of the same weight can flex more than metal and reduce felt recoil but let's all be honest nobodies carrying a polymer gun that heavy.

It’s a tampered design where they put a PPK slide on a PP frame because the pocket pistol ban meddling. It makes it bulkier but without the longer barrel advantage of a PP.

Some people are autistic about the GCA import restrictions, but I think it’s retarded if you’re planning on carrying it. The PPK/S is better simply for the +1. The PPK has wraparound grips while the PPK/S doesn’t. That’s the only advantage the PPK has.
>>
>>62795487
I think faster than I can type.
>>
>>62795499
PPK/s is wider and noticeably taller. It’ll conceal worse. You might as well get 380 if going with it so you can exploit the bigger grip area.
>>
>>62795473
I just think they are overhyped and have just a few good hits. They had more of a cultural impact than musical one. I don't share music taste with most folks though which is fine, to each their own. I listen to a lot of $uicide boy$ and post hardcore like Eidola and Unprocessed. Check out Counterfit Shrines by Eidola and Memoires of a Gorilla by Suicide Boys if you're looking for something new to listen to. Pittsburgh Sound by Wiz Khalifa if you're into that 90s shit, it's off his first(?) album and has a similar vibe.

Had an interesting experience at the range last night. Accidentally loaded my 10mm glock magazine with 9mm. First two rounds cycled. The third round fired, and then the case failed to eject. The case was bulged, but it was the only bulged one of the 3 rounds. I was surprised the g40 was able to shoot 9mm, so I had to try it again. Loaded up a few 9mm rounds and shot a couple more before experiencing the same malfunction and another bulged case.

Additionally, you can see in picrel a fired bullet. When shooting 9mm out of the g40, one of the bullets ricocheted somewhere and hit me right in the stomach. It wasn't hard enough that it was painful. I was with a highly knowledgeable and experienced shooter. Neither one of us could figure out where the bullet ricocheted off of. An unusual occurrence for an indoor range. Still kind of confused about what happened really. I would also assume the bullet would be somewhat fragmented? But it was intact. I was wearing eye pro at the time, which I maybe only do 20% of the time. Might be bumping that percentage up after last night.

Can't wait for Trump winning on the fifth but it taking 7+ days to get all the mail in ballots counted so Kamala wins by 0.1% on the 12th after one district in Pennsylvania found 14,000 more mail in votes for Kamala the night before in the back Alley of an abandoned Wendy's, then 1-2 years of shitass gun and ammo prices until people realize Kamala's likely a lame duck. I'm the anon that actually made that post. I like the PPK over the PPK/s because it is pocketable where the PPK/s really isn't. I also prefer the wrap around grips. If I am going to have the longer grip, I want the longer slide, too. Don't get me wrong, for the right price, I could see myself getting a PPK/s, but we are talking about a $1,000 so I don't want to compromise.

Yesterday, I finally got my hands on a Ruger SP101 at a local indoor range. I never buy a gun unless I'm 110% sure I want it but I've been reading about this one for awhile and it's at the top of my list so I couldn't wait to try it out.

The model I've been looking at it is model 15707: the 3" .357 Lipsey's Exclusive. Unfortunately, my range only had the model 5782: the (pic related) in 4.2" .357 Match Champion. I rented it and a box of .38 SPL. Despite being a DA aficionado, my first 5-10 shots were not great even at 7 yards but once I fixed my grip and my stance, it was like shooting a lazer beam. Even at max range (49 feet) I was having little difficulty putting my bullets where they needed to go. Unfortunately, the range doesn't allow pictures and I didn't save any of my targets as I attributed any good placements to the gun instead my admittedly rudimentary skills so you'll have to just trust me, bro.

As for the gun itself, I chose it over the GP100 because I'm hoping it can be used as a CCW. I fingerbanged the GP100 they have on the shelf and it is heavy as fuck whereas the SP101 felt fantastic. It has a heavy barrel but it's pretty narrow and the grip is very light. My only complaint about the SP101 is I did have to cramp my hands up pretty close but it's not a big deal considering it only holds 5 shots.

tl;dr The SP101 exceeded my lofty expectations. I'm gonna do some more research in how practical it is to carry and I'm gonna put a box of .357 through it but overall it was very nice to be excited for something and have it over deliver. If you're looking for a revolver, give it a try!

They're neat, have a unique and cool aethetic, and people see how expensive they are and associate cost with quality. When most people rent them their groups go down by about 1/3 due to a combination of it being fullsized and the trigger, the felt recoil is minimal, and loading staccato mags feels like pressing hot brass into a stick of butter.

You could get most of those benefits with a Shadow 2 which cost half as much or really any other race gun, but Staccato capitalized on branding so folks gravitate to it.

Every beginner I have had shoot one had their grips shrink so noticably and significantly that they GEEKED out. The gun absolutely makes a difference and staccato is a very good gun. I posted earlier about my gym buddies the fudd and the dudebro I took to that rental range and they were both enamored with the staccato and shadow 2 because they "felt like laser guns".

Those guys probably could shoot a pdp just as well with practice and training but having their groups shrink like that got them REALLY jazzed about shooting and made them want to go train and practice.

I'll be as concise as I can be.
It's because you fundamentally haven't paid attention to the pre-election polls vs final results. Hillary was +8 nationally before, she lost. Biden was +7 nationally, he just eked out a win. Harris is even, that's a big problem for her.
>but the polls have been wrong!
In a consistent, predictable manner. There is a 2-6% of the electorate that votes for Trump that cannot be reached by polls/surveys. As a result, Trump has consistently outperformed his polling average, no indication this has changed and pollsters are suddenly reaching this demographic. Rather, you saw the swings in polling data ever since july, that's driven entirely by response bias and poor modeling.
I'm pretty optimistic, there's almost no way to create enough anomalies to overcome this predicted lead.

Ignoring cost.

507 Comp is too large for carry while the RMR HD is just a taller RMR which adds some difficulty but is still able to be concealed. The 507Comp is noticeably wider in window.
507Comp is a larger window than the RMR HD but IMO not bigger in a meaningful way, the RMR HD is perfectly usable at speed.
507Comp has more reticles but I don’t think any fancy reticles are useful, I disable my RMR HD’s and just use the dot.
RMR HD uses a 2032 and the 507Comp uses a 1632

>pollsters can only poll whoever picks up phone/answers survey/email/etc
This guy gets it, Trump has fairly unique characteristic about 8-20% of his base in that they absolutely will not talk to pollsters.
Which is pretty based in its own right.
Polls are an aggregate of those who wanted to answer them at a given time relative to what was happening then.
For example, no democrat wanted to take a poll after Trump/Biden debate and the numbers reflected it.

Thought about ordering the decoxk-only plate but figure why not just let there be a safety there. It’s not like you have to use it and the option to carry cocked and locked is always nice.

The USP full-size is easy to detail strip as long as you own a hammer and a punch set. I am the most mechanically retarded person I know and I still found it pretty easy to run through the take apart > reassemble > discover you fucked something up > take apart again cycle. However, I did try to detail strip my VP9 and discovered that was bullshit. Took me a solid half hour to squeeze the trigger return spring back into place.

My gen 3 glock 19 has worn out 2 recoil springs in the time I’ve had it and stopped going back into battery on the tail end of both spring’s life spans (why I replaced them, stock a backup spring, and make sure it WANTS to go into battery even when lowered into battery instead of dropped after range trips now)
Had certain ammo brands induce a version of the gen 3’s infamous brass tk face where it bounced off my sro and back into the chamber, I fixed this with a $10 gen 4 ejector swap
And when I fed it a few boxes of “hugh’s precision” it had a 50% dud rate (even when then fed into my range buddy’s hammer fired repeatedly) and my first and only squib
Luckily due to having video proof of how comedically shitty the hugh’s shit was out of multiple guns the place I bought it from gave me a full refund

There's a ton of gun clubs and outdoor ranges, but I travel for work 3-6 month contracts and all the ones I've been around for the last year here in south, central, and east MN where all the money has been the past 1.5 years have 1 year memberships only AND are closed in the winter. One place required I go to TWO of their monthly meetings at the club house before I could be considered to buy a 1 year membership to their range with no fast fire allowed, no holster draw, and all the other fudd shit that I don't care for.

That's looking pretty good. Are you having any work done on the internals or any trick parts installed?
>>
>>62799872
A lot of the internal parts are in fact interchangeable
>>
>>62800962
They are not, in fact it would be easier for you to tell me what parts you think are interchangeable. The trigger(it's anfitted part anyway), hammer, hammer dog, trigger plunger, pawl, cylinder latch, crane lock, the ejector rod, etc are all not interchangable.
Excepting the spring loaded plungers, the mainspring shaft, the mainspring, the trigger return spring, and sometimes(depending on the age of the guns) the caps at both ends of the return spring.
In other words the parts that make the guns work, aren't interchangable because many of the SP101's parts are scaled down.
>>
>>62799935
Why do people say he's the AntiChrist?
>>
>>62801021
A large amount of parts within the trigger are the same, for instance. Also a bunch of small fittings are the same. They have a lot of parts in common at the end of the day.
>>
>>62801021
Oh yeah, transfer bars aren't interchangeable either.

>>
>>62801036
I said they were patterned the same bud.
You said the parts were interchangeable, there's not actually much that is truly able to fit into a GP100.
>>
>>62801047
>sights
>trigger springs
>firing pin
>many small pieces
I was under the impression that many parts out of the trigger assembly are the exact same, and also the extractor.
>>
>>62801063
They're not, the trigger assembly is populated by the trigger plunger, pawl, transfer bar, cylinder latch, and a few spring-loaded plungers. Only the spring loaded plungers would be interchangable. All these parts function the same, but they're scaled down in the SP101.
You also can't put any iteration of SP101 sights in a GP100. The GP100 has a lot more interchange with the Super Redhawk.

Man, that's kinda sad. Halloween is pretty based in general and it's really fun to see how happy the little kids are and what their costumes are (and spook them out a bit.) Plus, trick or treating is the kind of thing that makes a group of people that live near eachother a community.
In my neighborhood, we sit on the porch or in the driveway if we are giving out candy. I wore my Crimson Ghost costume, watched Adam's Family and Treehouse of Horror episodes on my phone, drank a couple beers and handed out candy for a few hours (under the vigilant eye of the Ring camera.) All in all it was pretty a pretty fun time. We had more trick or treaters than last year so that was nice.
Thank you for reading my blog.

Is the cz shadow series viable for a combat/duty handgun or is it strictly for target competition?
>>
>>62801173
yes and it's perfectly safe - even with the firing pin mods - as long as you're not doing stupid USPSA gamefag shit with it. just use the half-cock notch or carry it cocked and locked, a modded one only becomes drop-unsafe with the hammer fully lowered and you have no reason to ever do that outside of a competitive space with retarded rules

Well, as far as revolvers go, it is one of the better options because companies are making holsters for them and it's not just the leather
>fits large frame revolvers
type, so you will have options there
>My only complaint about the SP101 is I did have to cramp my hands up pretty close
This is another area where you have pretty good aftermarket support.
All in all it is a great gun at a good price (I assume you will try not to get ripped off.)

Yes, anon I own and work on both.
The internal parts work the same, but they aren't the same size and very few actually interchange.
Why would the pawl be the same size between the two when the 101 is a 5 shot with a shorter radius to turn the cylinder?
Why would the trigger plunger be the same size when the cylinder latch sits closer in a 101?
Why would the transfer bar be the same size when it doesn't need to travel up as far?
I don't know how to explain it to you better.
