I don't believe in 6.8fury, but I'd be happy if it did become the new standard. Still feels like it's in an Test Phase kind of thing, they didn't go all in which makes me think it's a scam to tax us for billions.

>Oh well we got this NEW Rifle with NEW ammunition, we're gonna need about three fiddy billion to get it up to speed
It was the same fucking way with the F22 Raptor. Spent hundreds of billions and that shit never got off the prototype phase. Just a money laundering scheme and the tax payers are getting bled for it.
>>
Would you believe that peasants in 1600th century Briton were getting taxed at a slave laboring, back breaking 20% that doomed them to a live of poverty? Yep, 20% back then was considered basically a slave, working for the Crown. A 20% tax was enough of a burden, that you couldn't get ahead in life, working to fill the Royalty and Noble's pockets.

Under Biden, we're at 35%.
>>
>>62803713
35% would be a massive tax cut for me
>>
>>62803685
I don't know what you're talking about, the F22 had almost 200 production air craft and is still in service. You have Obama to thank for axing the program.

But from what I've seen, they are going all in. There's a new plant in Arkansas that just opened dedicated to producing ammo for it, over 500 million a year, and that's on top of production at Lake City that started earlier this year.

I don't think it matters. No one calls the AR an M16. Or an AK a zasteva, M77 etc, the broad term for a type of gun just applies to all branches of that gun equally. An AK, an AR, a FAL.

I'm getting FTFs in my FAL/L1A1 mashup that look like picrel with most of my surplus magazines. Brass tends to have a big gnarly gouge going down the length of it, is this the feedlips all being really rough? Thinking I should just hit them all with a file but not certain.
>>
>>62806556
Do you have the correct mag catch?
My brass gets marks when I pull the bolt back half way and never chamber the round
my guess is it's not oriented correctly due to the catch or just the inch/metric differences
I've never built a FAL, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The catch is just a wide-foot metric. It's the 2nd FAL I've built and it sure went better this time around. I stuck in a fresh clean round and just rode it forward, the scratches are coming from below the guide rails and it's super damn stuck. Checked the feed lip again, it was hard to see but under light I can see a glint of brass smear and the paint on the front-top of the mag is being scraped off.
>>
>>62806675
Alright, just went ahead and hand-filed the front of the feed lips down, looks like they're feeding better now.

DSA receiver, course if old Imbel ones and such werent as much as the gun I'd get one of those. Mags are mixed Israel and Euro, Izzy ones are near unused but had a lot of storage crust. No issues so far now that the feed lips are more rounded and smoothed. Also, found a lot of surface rust inside the izzy mag bodies and scrubbed that out.

I have spent the past three hours trying to get the recoil spring tube nut back into the recoil spring on my FAL and I want to die. I've already ruined the brand new springs I bought trying to pull them off the recoil spring plunger. I cannot tell if the threads bite and I keep getting this shit cross-threaded, and the buttstock keeps wobbling, so I can't even tell if I'm aligned to the tube in the first place. Should I just buy the tool?

Sorry to bother you guys, but /arg/ is being very
Them.
And I'd like a second opinion.
I want to get the feel of an older A2 style sight system, but I don't want to waste money.
I'm considering ordering pic related.
I'm tempted by the scalar works peak sights, but that's $240.
There's also a case for Amazon chinesium DD clones, but if I hate them is it because of the system or because it's cheap crap.
I have a second AR with mbus 3 and I got a hs903r coming this week, so putting fixed sights on one isn't a big deal. (It's got my pistol optic on it now, I need it back for my suppressed nightstand pistol.)

Since I'm here anyway, eventually I'm going to learn to shoot my Springfield M1A. What do you guys think of the Bassett mounting system, and recommend a check riser or whatever it's called.

I'm a total noob at rifle shooting and I meant to learn this year, but I've been busy and barely had time to practice with my CC pistol.
Thank you for your time.
>>
>>62811542
I'm not a gear snob but I generally recommend avoiding chinesium when possible, both QC and durability are poor. I accidentally purchased an """aluminum""" chinesium rail that came with some mysterious rust, it regularly gets loose, and has some other issues.

>>
>>62811608
>I accidentally purchased an """aluminum""" chinesium rail that came with some mysterious rust, it regularly gets loose
I don't trust chinese stuff but there's a big leap between an AR rail and an Iron Sight set up. I got a set of chinesium pic rail for my shotgun and while I wouldn't take them to war with serious use in mind, they have worked for 5 years.

Iron Sights, pic rail segments and other smaller stuff don't really bring your ease of use down when they don't work. At $50, it's worth trying since he isn't out much if he doesn't like them. He also claimed it was more for style than functionality. Getting a good red dot is more important than Iron Sights in our modern age.
>>
>>62806556
>>62806858
Are those ones really tight to lock in? Because I have had problems with magazines being really tight to lock in because they sit too high and the rounds get gouged by the bolt. The thing is, most of my magazines work fine. It's only a few this happens with and I own a lot. I would take a look at the catch but I am no expert and all I did to fix this problem was mark those magazines and toss them aside.

I was serious about the Bassett M1A optic mount. Anyone know shit about it?
What about Bradley cheek risers?
I'm not in a hurry. 308 is expensive and I'm going to lean fundamentals on my ARs first. Eventually I want to learn to hit with this gun.
This is what came with mine. Not pictured are the gun itself and the reproduction us army M14 manual.
Should I fill out the warranty card? I really appreciate black and white magazine articles. It adds to the whole time LARP.
I'm not in a hurry to fuck with my .308. i do want the ARs gtg asap. That includes me and my wife having some competence with them.

I've never heard of this. I'll google it. I'm waiting on slings, an optic, and mounts, but I want to at least go to an outdoor range and test a 25-300 zero.
I have no idea what I'm doing. I've been putting this off almost a year. I've been watching videos, buti sunny know how the local outdoor public ranges are. They all seem to be owned by the same company.
If I'm going to order more shit I'll want to order it in time to ship for next weekend.

I'm figuring this out. You have to be sponsored by a member, but you can get an appointment with a range officer at some of these private ranges. I figure if I'm presentable, have money, and most importantly, am white, I think if I pay for a range officer session, I'll "get invited" to join.
I should try out a few.

I've had the Bassett picatinny mount, it never held and always unscrewed, torqued like they instruct or cranked it over, with and without loctite, just from bench shooting. Bassett Machine are good people I just can't recommend their mount. Go with an ARMS 18 or SADLAK. I got a SADLAK and its solid as fuck. The AMU story on Bassett is interesting, but for decades when the military mounts an optic on an M14 it's the Brookefield style (what ARMS and SADLAK based theirs on).

I wish you'd have replied earlier, I ended up ordering utg pro because they are cheap and made here. I'm curious to see what $30 USA made sights are like. I suspect they're made in Taiwan and "assembled" in Livonia Michigan.
Those spike ones look pretty interesting and I might have bought those if I had a chance to research them. I decided that I really wanted flip sights since I'm ultimately going to buy better optics. As far as the scalar ones, they're a solution to a problem I don't have (rail space, emitter blocking.) also, my rifles are 20". The scalar are calibrated for 15.
>>62816775
>Basset bad
Noted. One of the reasons I'm being cheap on shit like buis and weapon lights is because I want to get good shit for my m1a. I figure I can use the AR without an optic to learn to use whatever I decide to get for the m1a. This is so far down the road though. Right now I'm just trying to fill gaps during cyber Monday season. Today I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to find a pistol light I trust under $80.
Like I said, I'm not poor, but if I don't buy the cheapest shit that will do the job for everything but the stuff I really care about, I will be soon.
>Arms 18 or sadlak
Put in my notes for later. I really appreciate this kind of info. Once I decide how cheap I'm willing to go on a pistol light that's going to sit in a drawer 99.99% of the time, I'll look these systems up.
>>
I quick peek suggests only the sadlak is currently available, but I'll get back to this later.

I might but those spike irons anyway and get rid of the basic bitch mbus I have on the other AR (unless the utg pro really suck, then I'll get rid of them. Also, I fucking hate shopping for flashlights!)

i've had a cetme-c parts ki, flat, and barrel sitting in a box for over a year now. my welder friend is willing to help me put it together around christmas.

i've got some questions if any of you have experience.

parts wise, i think i'll need:

bushings for the stock pins
semi denial weldments
rear sight + base (i like the drum sight)
barrel pin
picatinny rail

also, i'm kind of getting cold feet about the barrel. i just got the 200$ one apex sells, and it's just a bare steel barrel. i wish i'd have bought the nitrided one from rtg, but i don't want to flush 300$ for the barrel + g3 triple tree and then have a 200$ barrel collecting dust. am i going to regret using the bare one?

It can be a huge life setback. Tragic. Girls can carry on about thier "good husband" or thier "bad husband", but it i just as significant for the man. Maybe more so, hear me out; the man is expected to be successful and advance himself, this can be significantly restrained by the wrong woman or she can be a _force multiplier_! The woman just needs to marry well and not get knocked up beforehand, equality bs aside, it is different. I would prefer a mousy house hussie 6 to a narcissistic power wife 8+ every day and night.

how was the build process? like would you do it again after having done it? part of me wants to do it because i already have most of the shit for it, but i've not even started cleaning up all the parts, and then there's the actual build and the painting and shit. i need to ask a buddy to turn down a 3/4" rod for a backer for the cocking tube, i've got to 3d print these little jigs and shit to line up the sights and holes for drilling the trunnion.

part of me is like, if you want a 308 why not just get an ar10. it would be cool to have a cetme. it's neat to have this thing that i rebuilt out of parts. but then i read about the process and people are like "it was much more expensive and time consuming than i expected"

On a side related note to my real niggas in this thread, Mountain House Bucket of meals wins another taste comparison contest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV_k-KSF36I

I have 3 of these at home in case lib hunting season started, and they keep winning when compared to other long term survival foods. Don't get MREs, don't get lesser food preps. Just buy these Mountain House buckets. Realistically, you only need enough to survive 3 months. Look at what people in war zones are doing and prepare with that in mind. PWS UXR is hitting the market slowly, which is a good thing. Don't want another MDRx mishap. A Light weight, slim .308 battle rifle, with the ability to change between 6.5cm and 6.8fury cartridges provided you buy the right parts. All three are plenty durable and will last thousands of rounds. All three manufacturers have a good warranty in case of parts breakage or if gun stops working.
I'm not big into AKs but I don't think I've ever heard or read a negative thing about M77s. Plenty of reliable, new-production magazines, and aftermarket parts are widely available because of parts interchangeability with M70s.
PTR 91 same deal mostly. Lots of magazines everywhere. Even more aftermarket parts and furniture on the market. If you can get used to the ergonomics and manual of arms, you could not go wrong with a G3. I love mine :]
With the FAL it's different. Not the biggest aftermarket support for this rifle since DSA is pretty much the only name in town but you can still find new-production furniture and pistol grips. Magazines on the other hand are harder to come by. Your best bet is surplus magazines because DSA's plastic ones suck. They were supposedly coming out with new metal ones back in april but idk what the status of that is. Regardless, FALs are cool and I personally plan on getting one next.
You should look into each of them in more detail to see what exactly that you're looking for. This is just a small, general overview of my observations on these BRs

My Vortex Viper for the PTR91 arrived today. I know its just a mid-tier optic, but man, its so much nicer than the cheap athlon I have on my axis. Glad I didn't completely cheap out, and looking forward to getting it properly zeroed next weekend.
Is there this much gain again on the real high end stuff?
>>
>>62858077
That's nice but not $4,000 nice. You can get better results from Bergara, Browning and Tikka rifles at a much lower price, but those aren't semi auto cool guns in Fortnite and CoWadooty.
>>
>>62860186
>Is there this much gain again on the real high end stuff?
Not much but I'm a poor that doesn't own a Night Force or Trijicon. Every gun toober seems to agree that the Primary Arms Platinum LPVO is the best in the market. For its glass, field of view and light weight. The Vortex Viper you got is good enough for everything, I would just suggest you hold onto that thing for another five years and see what happens in the market.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z_vs0suaIE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtvjgJjrCwo

LPVOs with range finder abilities, target tagging, target outlining and built in night vision are being tested right now by Vortex and Sig. Don't be in a rush to spend money when the tech is still evolving.

I used to use ye olde t-handled brass rod but I bought an otis wire kit like two years ago and it's great. You feed an end of the wire down the breech until it reaches the muzzle then pull it out with a plastic grip. The other end is the one with the patch. You don't need to remove the stock either to run patches. So much faster than the rod method
The kit is supposed to be paired with their own proprietary patches but you can make do with regular square ones once you know where to cut the correct slits in them to fit them on the end of the wire
Picrel
Highly recommend

Well, crap. I wanted to add a light to my br and it's in the back of the safe. It's a complicated puzzle to get the order and positions just right to get everything to fit back in, so I passed. Life is so hard.

My levers have a display case, so do my commie guns. The sober truth (for us all) is that we just need bigger safes. And I had that, and room to spare. ...years ago. So, every blessing is wrapped around a curse.

Shouldn't have listened to your bros and moved. Everyone wants to be a gangsta, until it's time to pay the bills or collect due. My advice, get a girl friend, and with a strong right hand you can have her help pay the bills. Get side gigs that are easy to do and give you extra income. Some suggestions from people I know:
>land scapping
>Ashpalt and seal coating drive ways
>Donating blood (if the pay is good)
>Call center, Help line
>Construction, Excavators
>Street ho
>Only Fans
>Sperm Donor (Warning: They CAN come after you for child support)
>Amazon delivery driver
>Online Gambling / Betting
These aren't get rich quick schemes but they might put an extra $600 in your pocket every month. I've even heard of scammers that pretend to be rich/celebrities and get women to give them thousands. One woman gave a dude pretending to be Bill Gates $2,000 because she """knew""" he could pay it back EZ. Some funny stuff out there.
>>
>>62881276
>need bigger safes
I don't have a good space for a larger safe. I can and should reinforce the door to my gun/reloading room which could work. Doesn't solve the fireproofing concern, but how good are safes for that anyway.
>>62881417
>get side gigs
Seal coating seems easy, but I've never done it before.
>street ho
>sperm donor
>only fans
>online gambling/betting
These could easily cause more problems than they solve. I personally would not recommend.
>>
>>62881500
>how good are safes for that
Typically rated by hour, in a locale that has a fire abatement dept, 1hr could be enough.

As a full time Amazon delivery driver, it’s not too bad, just make sure to join a decent company. Plus, all that walking is good for you.
If you mean doing the part time thing, I would highly advise against it. Lots of miles on the car, lots of interactions with dumb and suspicious people who think you’re stealing their stuff.

I'll keep that in mind for the future. Sadly the scar will have to be a future thing. Hence why I am getting the ptr.

Why are almost all .308 AR10/DPMS barrels being made in 416 SS? Tin-foil hats say it's because it's both a cheaper steel and much more easier to machine saving on tooling wear and machine time. I just want a 20" 308 barrel that isn't a bull barrel that I can potentially range dump with, I ain't doing that with a stainless steel barrel.

Amazing is subjective. But yeah. If you overlook the crappy sights, crappy trigger, crappy LOP, crappy wood stock and crappy plastic parts it's "amazing". Or change that shit and get a truely great rifle.

I still don't get it. I don't recognize that part and I don't know what a "safety tab" is, nor could I describe an "auto bolt release". My 10/22 has a crossbolt safety and a manual bolt catch/release and it works great.
>>
>>62893880
Its the tab you push to release the bolt, a safety feature Fudd Ruger added to prevent 1 handed bolt release. After you file that down you just pull the bolt back and let it fly.

Can anyone recommend a double shoulder sling for this thing? I have to lug it a mile and a half through knee high snow to get to my coyote spot, and I'd prefer to have it more secure than just a simple 2 point sling
>>
>>62900254
Do you have a pack on already? If not, you might be able to make use of one of those soft cases with backpack straps. I have a 3-gun one that's reasonably comfortable, holds the rifle nicely and has plenty of pockets. Also makes something like a shooting mat when opened up.

I will tell you a simple solution that us pros use when hiking and camping. Take a carabiner or bungee cord and use it to hold down the rifle, so that when you walk with it strapped on, it won't sway and drag or droop in place. You don't need a new sling, you need IMAGINATION~

>Carabiner with bungee cord
>Hook it to your belt line and wrap around rifle
It's that E - Z. You're welcomed.

To anyone who has shot Igman or Saltech 7.62 NATO, what are your thoughts on it and how accurate was it for you? Thinking of picking up some ammo for Black Friday this year and those 2 brands of ammo look promising.
>>
>>62904633
Saltech works, can't recall accuracy too well but I think my Polytech M1A was getting 2-2.5 inches with it, no malfunction from a sample size of 500 rounds. Does come with the caveat that I think a tight chamber might choke on it, from what I learned reloading the 500 I got. The case itself was very long, I must've trimmed at least 1/32 of an inch from every single one. Every flash hole was visibly misaligned, some so bad I snapped a de-capping pin every so often. If you don't plan to reload it (or can deal with it) and aren't shooting it in a match rifle go for it.
>>
Well I tried shooting my Sig tread. I need work.

>>
>>62900776
This is a great idea, never thought about the versatility of a soft case. I could stuff extra gear in there and I wouldn't need to carry a mat on me
>>
>>62904633
Here's 8 round of Saltech through my M1 at 100 yards, on par with Lake City M80 that I've shot out of it. It was also shooting well in my Israeli Mauser. Compared to US M80, German MEN 7.62 and Malaysian L2A2 ball the Saltech has a substantial muzzle flash and loud report.

This is my 50shot MOA test. I reckon my FAL's accuracy is between .05MOA and 10MOA, could be more if we count the shots in the surrounding area.

The elites don’t want you to know this but the paper plates at Kwik Trip are free. You can take them to the range. I’ve shot 458 plates.

I met a guy at the range, called himself Radar, no I'm not joking. He would print out free targets from printer paper at the local library. One time, i took large left over boxes at work, cut them up and made targets out of them. My favorite improvised targets are fruit, but the RSOs are fags and don't like them.
