What would your preferred sidearm be if you were an international spy? Remember, Geoffrey Boothroyd said the Beretta 418 was a woman's gun.

1911 of course.

Fun urban legend about those: it's been claimed that HAFSADA made some of the batch sold to Britain using steel salvaged from the scuttled wreck of the Graff Spee. Never been confirmed, but it's a fun story.

>Geoffrey Boothroyd said the Beretta 418 was a woman's gun
yeah but he's br*tish, that's like listening to vegan's opinion on how to to cook a good steak.

I'd go with an LCR in a clipdraw in 9mm
>NATO caliber so you're likely to be able to scrounge ammo from mooks you kill
>DA revolver so it can't jam
>can be clipped to your waistband if you aren't wearing your tux jacket
>lightweight polymer frame doesn't deform the pocket of your tuxedo jacket if you want to pocket carry
>>
>>62873536
none, because it's extremely conspicuous to carry a firearm in almost every country on earth except the united states and, maybe, a handful more.

"Depends on the assignment" is the only correct answer.
A Lifecard would unironically serve a spy pretty well in most countries, since most foreign LE isn't going to recognize one, it's easy to silence, and you can hide it anywhere. You could even probably stuff it into something like a phone or an external hard drive. For an assassination assignment, it's perfect.
Sometimes, you wouldn't want a gun at all. Guns are intended to help you fight back when you need to stay alive, but an intelligence asset is expendable and sometimes it would be more valuable to let you die in the event you got caught. You also might go through tight security at an event where you likely won't need a gun.
On the opposite side of that, you might just keep a full-size handgun and extra mags on you if you're going balls-deep into some crazy shit. If you're taking someone out in a war zone, you could probably get away with full kit, as long as you have an extraction ready/someone to get you out of military prison.

It's important to remember that most intelligence work these days is just the stuff we meme about though. The CIA recently did a round of hiring for "special officer" positions that are just people doing work related to their college degree, so there are unironically people just making sure the right propaganda gets put out, some guy is keeping tabs on wannabe militias and creating boogeymen on Twitter, etc etc

What's the job? Depending on where I am I'd source the weapons locally
>>
How people think arming clandestine operatives works: An elite team of Tier 1 black ops pipehitters visits the armory at Ft. Liberty and loads up in the latest and greatest super secret squirrel weaponry

How it actually works: "Tony" from down the hall got Abdul to buy some decent AK's from Ibrahim and a couple Toyota's from The local dealership. "Spencer" is in country but only in the sense that he's already on a fishing boat posing as a hippy tourist trying to surf the worlds oceans. He'll probably need a pickup but more than likely he just needs a ticket (NO BUSINESS CLASS FFS) on the next plane out

>>
weren't spies basically press ganged tards blackmailed by their agencies to do their bidding, or else?
>>
>>62875624
Spies historically have always been criminal rings that exist with the consent of authorities. Nowadays, they are usually minority groups roped into shady dealings for money or protection.
>>
>>62873536
>international spy?
if you're relying on a firearm, you're not doing a very good job
>>
>>62875624
No? Or do you think MI6 doesn't exist?
>>
I hate to say it cause yeah its like the cliche choice, by honestly what could be better for a concealed defensive handgun you have to use in any country in the 50s-70s other than a PPK in .32
>>
>>62873536

Since the next James Bond is gonna be a Jewish American I'd love to see any British spy fighting Nazi zombies in a Wolfenstein movie. Also Doomguy is a great-grandson of the protagonist of these games

A spy would not be using a weapon. He will be a nondescreipt clerk, scientist, low ranking soldier etc. If he has a gun, it would be whatever local model in order not to blow his cover.

>A spy would not be using a weapon
Dawn of War Dark Crusade had infantry that could fight and be stealthed at the same time. Empire Earth II had spies who weren't having access to any weapons even if they were British MI6 agents or Japanese Ninjas and World of Warcraft tried to balance the previous two ideas with Rogues who were awarded an damage boost every time they successfully used their stealth abilities but still couldn't continue with further attacks without being forced to drop their stealth protection. 2006 was great but everything went downhill from that point onwards starting with Vladimir Putin's clone Daniel Craig who replaced OP Pierce Brosnan as the Casino Royale protagonist Henry Cavill was considered too young but he was still perfect casting his Warhammer movie ain't ever happening so his career is permanently ruined by Jewish wokeness that tried to use Idris Elba as a distraction before finally revealing their true plans they always wanted to cast Aaron Taylor Johnson from the very beginning

>When I was fresh out of the Navy and an eager new NRA Staffer our Executive Editor Ken Warner asked me to assemble some cast bullet loads for an M1903 Colt Pocket Model .32 ACP. The first thought in my head was, “why the ^&*^%#!@ would anybody want to do THAT? The gun belonged to the late Harry Archer, who then worked for our government and was being sent out of the country clandestinely on our behalf. Harry needed some ammunition which reliably functioned his M-series Colt, and which would be more effective than hardball, the only ammo then available.
>When I asked why Harry was packing a .32 and not something more effective, I was informed politely that it was really none of my business, but that “when in Rome, you do as the Roman’s do.” Ken explained to me that if Harry took a .45 or a .357 it would be obvious that he was “not a local.” Since “the bad guys” where he was going normally used .32 automatics, while military and police carried various 9mms, the Colt would be discreet and also “blend in. https://www.hensleygibbs.com/edharris/articles/32ACP.htm
32 was the historically accurate spy weapon in the 20th century. It was much easier to resupply on Europe than a bigger gun.
Also archer was a real spy
