Why were pump actions on semi auto shotguns like the m3 (I know picrelated is the m4) and spas 12 deleted when the next gen of semi auto shotguns came out during the GWoT?
>>
because it fucking sucks
>>
Unnecessary. The pump mode was for low pressure rounds like beanbags, and the M4 self-regulates so low pressure shells will generally still cycle it.

This. Those guns were designed as cop guns, not combat guns. They needed the pump function for things like less-lethal and tear gas that wouldn't cycle a normal semi.

Idk, I've always wordered why in an ordered world where the DBAL A4 failed the the M3 wouldn't become the standard. I can understand why the SPAS 12 failed to spark a next generation due to its bulk and it feeling like a gen 1 product but the M3 is a solid shotgun that fully supplants the need for a pump and a semi auto in a lightweight package. Then again I'm severely buzzed so maybe there's a je ne sias quois lost on me that pumps have over the M3

I had a MSgt (USMC) that served in the early 90s and he said they would just skip buckshot off the ground into people's shins when they got rowdy at embassies. I believe him, he ran 10 miles every morning with a sledgehammer in each hand among other shit.

why even live

I'm sure they would have a use for it. But there's not enough of them. They're not the main customers driving design decisions. They are irrelevant.

mossberg makes a magazine fed pump action shotgun, and a semi-automatic shotgun is made by just about every manufacturer on the planet.
a belt fed shotgun is in no way beyond the pale. especially once we stop pretending that we care about the geneva convention.

They'll be using 40mm launchers.

Did this with birdshot in prison. Buck would be fucking hilarious though

The Franchi SPAS12 sucks because you're fighting the spring in pump mode and it's rather clunky & heavy. The SPAS15 isn't a lot better.
The Benelli M3 sucks because its semi mode is inertial, and the way it operates in pump mode doesn't allow you to put rearward pressure on the pump when you have a round chambered (it doesn't lock, so you can push it out of battery, preventing it from firing).

I'm not sure how the american military uses the Benelli M4, but it seems like the breachers are using smaller pump shotties rather than that one. If breachers had M3s, they could pump the breaching rounds. But the disadvantages seem to outweigh the advantages?
Maybe there will be more interest in shotguns in the future due to drones? Would be neat if they brought back the 12g grenades too.

When I bought my M3 Tactical, it came with the sliding stock and I had intended to buy the fixed one you have. Never got around to it, cuz the adjustable stock feels comfy.
>>

why does putting an ergonomic handle on a shotgun make it something that automatically requires several hundred dollary doos to meet an early death?

The M4's stock looks stupid.

I'm not sure what your retarded ass is trying to ask. There's nothing illegal or restricted about pistol grips on shotguns. Shotguns with pistol grips are not NFA items. The only thing the government bitches about regarding shotguns is their barrel length.

I claim it is, because there's simply no purpose for it other than being a range toy. And even that would be greatly limited. For combat purposes or drone defense a machine gun is far superior. The belt-fed would be useless for hunting or clay sports thanks to laws and game rules. It would have no purpose other than shooting it for fun, and that's not enough of a driving force to pay for the R&D.

>>but but but what about box mag fed mossbergs
those are equally pointless, but they are also extremely easy to make, being just a minor modification to existing guns. Those don't have all the issues with making the belt feed work reliably.

Give it some time. You underestimate how good humanity is at inventing stuff used to murder other humans. Eventually, we'll miniaturize everything.
