>>64496891I sometimes think "xyz belongs in a museum" as well but those fuckers still end up selling donated items to private owners pretty often so unless they REALLY REALLY fucking want something bad enough that they're making a dedicated (at least semi-permanent) display to it, a lot of shit just sits in the back (sometimes it isn't relevant enough to other items, sometimes it's not interesting, etc). Even then shit can't stay on display 24/7 if it's UV sensitive, like painted items. Yes, treated glass and the kinds of bulbs they use limits it but there's no* totally UV free environments except in complete darkness. Even if something is highly coveted by a museum there's a high likelihood it just sits in a drawer somewhere. Maybe having something on loan would be best IMO.
