>>64500504Wasn't that by the same guy who wanted soldiers to have Five-Seven pistols on bike helmets and a button on the bike to fire it? For use in Afghanistan of all places.
>>64500530He also wanted to make a bajillion destroyers to use instead of carriers for launching F-35s. No aircraft maintanance facilities included.
>clip fed 30mm with manual crank only vertical elevation >but has electric teapot
Looks like something straight out of a mecha show. The ones where multiple robots assemble to form a more powerful robot.
>>64500734It's like a retarded version of Gundam's Base Jabbers.

>>64502394 Wait west taiwan aircraft designers freebase draino. That explains a lot of their shitty designs
>>64501289>Using the fucking Porche Tiger's engine in a modern vehicle designWhat were they thinking, even just using a high-end civilian engine would had been a better idea
>>64503728Is that true? I never saw a conclusive answer on the engine matter
>>64505387That's classified. As for an actual answer, we don't know. I've never been able to find a serious source or seen one posted anywhere. The only thing we actually know is that it sucks ass and screams like the souls of the damned.

>>64505387>Is that true?Kinda. Probably? No one who actually knows for sure is sharing that info.As far as anyone can tell with open sources, the 12-cyinder 12N360 engine in the T-14 is probably developed from a half-finished 16-cylinder engine that was being developed by Simmering-Graz-Pauker in Austria for Porsche. There are several significant differences between these engines, so they're by no means identical. But they both use an exceptionally unusually X-configuration (these things are uncommon for legitimate reasons).Without further details, which aren't openly available, it's not really to say with absolute certainty if the 12N360 is derived from SGP's engine, or if it just has a bunch of similarities. Personally judging by comparing the available photos and drawings, to me the 12N360 looks like a weird hybrid of the Nazi-German SGP-engine, and various cold-war era Soviet V-12s derived from the old Kharkiv model V-2So I'd say there's likely a significant degree of truth to the rumors that the SGP engine and the 12N360 are related, but the 12N360 is by no means a direct copy, or slightly modified copy of the SGP engine. It's obvious that the russians/soviets put a bunch of their own work into this project and didn't just copy the krauts. What can be said for sure is that an X-engine has far greater potential potential power output than a V-engine with the same external dimensions. So the 12N360 is compact for a piston engine of its (alleged) power output. It also doesn't fucking work reliably. This issue is a huge headache for the russians because they've designed the whole vehicle series for this compact and powerful engine, so they can't just shoehorn in one of their old V-12s which date back the 1930s. Those old V12s are simply too large to fit. That means the entire Armata vehicle platform is a useless dead-end waste of time and resources unless they can manage to make the 12N360 work, which they've been failing at for decades.
>>64506030It kinda looks like they could fit a Ka-500 in there, there would be a bulge over the engine compartment but it looks like it could be made to fit.
>>64505387It's using a partially revised but still failed soviet loose clone of the german engine, which failed back during the late 70s, got put in the parts pile, never found a successful market and then was used as "hey we have this" type of deal by UVZ, thinking they'll fix the issue while the tank being developed and put into production.

>>64500539Put a Fischer Price logo on that. Looks like something my toddler would teethe on.
>>64503728Every "succesful" russian tank engine has been some variant of the Ford V-12 they received in the 1930s.
