Wouldn't the F-35 become the F-22?

But more modern and better?

>B.but muh dogfight
Nobody does this anymore.
>>
May as well make an entirely new plane.

You seem confused, the F-22 is an air superiority fighter, meant to fighter other fighters in the air.
The F-35 is a strike fighter meant to bomb shit on the ground with limited self defense capabilities.
You can easily tell from looking at the performance numbers, the F-35 cannot reach the altitude or speed to launch missiles with competitive range, and it also has a high wing loading and thus can't pull hard Gs.
Oh and ofc it's thrust-to-drag and thrust-to-weight is quite poor.

Anon you're responding to a retard. A 2 second Google search would've easily cleared this confusion, but he nevertheless chose to make t his thread.

Yea, you may even call it something like the F-47.
Nah, that's just crazy talk.

It could work if you hook them up like this. Plus you could keep the F-35 engine for VTOL. If you need stealth you can release the engines as a decoy.
>>
What if they put two F-35 engines in the F-22?

What about four raptor engines, two under each wing?
>>
>>64504497
Yea but why not make the ejector seat launch the pilot to low earth orbit instead? He could fly the plane remotely with a fiber-optic cable without risking his own life.

what's the tactical adventage of placing your open, exposed pilot's cockpit right behind your engine's exhaust?

Orange man bad
