It's the zombie apocalypse and you get one handgun. You may never find replacement parts. Go.

USP in any caliber is a solid choice, they are all stupid tough. Second choice would be a 2nd Gen Glock 17, my county's sheriff's department has one that hasn't been cleaned since 1995 and currently has over 170k rounds through it. No breakage of any sort, and no malfunctions that haven't been resolved with a mag change and racking the slide.

In my neck of the woods, CZ-75s are quite popular with private owners, and all military and police units are issued Glocks, making them by far the two most common pistols. Glocks being in a league of their own, all things considered. So probably a G-17 or a G-19.

A 4" .357 magnum that has some sturdy heft to it. As long as I can scrounge up some non-corrosive lube/fats to occasionally keep the cylinder spinning, I should be good for at least two decades.

Another good option would be a double barrel 12 gauge.

The US military uses them in trained fireteam contact drills to suppress and use fire support. I assume you have firesupport and trained fireteams because otherwise someone witha 270 is going to take you larperator head clean off and 500 yards or take your leags off with buckshot while you flap around wearing worthless gear that means nothing outside of it's correct military appliation as part of a vastly bigger integrated mechanism than (you)

.357 revolver, L frame or similar, ill take the 7 shot if I can. That's assuming you mean a REAL apocalypse not just a "oh man theres suddenly zombies" situation in which case its a glock. That shit will likely be mopped up pretty quick anyways so capacity is king and the usual BS. DA revolver becomes the obvious choice long term in an actual end of days sort of situation since its gud enuff for defense against other people(use your rifle dummy) while tons of people have a .38 revolver stuck in a drawer or closet somewhere and you can even use black powder and improvised primers if things go that far. Its the best combination of not giving up too much modern advantage while also offering the ability to improvise. Major downside is that BP fouling can cause all sorts of problems with a modern DA revolver unless frequently cleaned.

DESU any of them that dont have immediate wear issues (EG CZ75 roll pin might be an issue even though I love them) are going to be enough. What, you think you're gonna be firing 500 rounds of ammo a day? Assuming you have food/food hunting needs covered in another gun, the only way parts breakage and wear becomes an issue is if you are constantly encountering hordes of zombies. After the first month or so to find a place away from civilization, you're a retard and it is entirely on you if you keep fighting through hordes.

If it is the only firearm I can ever own, I'd almost say a pistol with a chassis and stock would be the best. C96 and Luger are peak cool but too finnicky, Glock and pretty much anything modern goes. It needs to be comfortable enough to carry, but no reason to ever care about concealing. Those chassis for the CZ Shadow 2s with a Holosun and extended barrel and suppressor gets you close to pcc territory.

>>64559591
As much as I love black powder revolvers, things like hand springs and nipples do need to be replaced from time to time.

Unless you are talking about say a flintlock single shot pistol.
>>
>>64561205
I like them too, but it wouldn’t be a first choice, it would however be a long term survival option from the standpoint of being able to make caps and powder. A cap making kit can be improvised, I would trust it over many modern firearms with the caveat of not needing to fire it continuously as they do foul up. I put maybe 4 cylinders through one of mine(Pietta New Model Army Remington copy) before it started to foul up.
>>

A .357 revolver with a couple speedloaders. You can use a Lee to handload shit, OAL isn't nearly as much of a problem, it retains cases, it'll take BP in extremis, and home-made magnum primers are easier to make go bang reliably. If I'm not having to improvise ammo, then the Beretta or a 1911. I love my 1911, and I've built another one from damn near the ground up so I know I can keep it running. But they're finicky enough with ammo length that even if I know it'll eat BP for a half-dozen mags I wouldn't want to have to handload for the damned thing in the field.

Knapping flints for a gun is a bitch. You need the skill before shit hits the fan, and a solid wad of spare flint. They snap at the rudest times and replacing them is annoyingly fiddly (to be fair, about as annoying as swapping caps)
