How do you think the small arms of realistically sized anthropomorphic animals would look? Assuming a dog equates to the size of a human.
>>

Assuming a dog is 4ish feet tall on its hind legs and an elephant is 16ish feet tall, and assuming that equates to an elephant being roughly 4 times as large, I assume that would mean that an elephant could comfortably fire calibers 4 times as large. Being that the largest caliber that seems to get regular use in terms of an infantry is .308, that would probably mean that an elephant could fire something over an inch in diameter without much of an issue, assuming the dog-elephant size ratio stays constant when the dog is sized up to a human.

The question is how do mice do combat with dogs, and how do dogs do combat with elephants?

Do carnivores enslave other species for food? Do herbivores consider themselves morally superior? Id like to think the German equivalent animal race is a horse.

Say that again, but slower.

Looks like the "designer" of said projectile wanted to imitate Raufoss rounds.

Four times the height is not four times the size.

Sure I get that but... I think there's a reason it's not shaped like that in real life.

Yeah. Just my thoughts on why he did that.

Yeah that's the thing you can't assume that because it makes no sense.

What if they are 4 times the height but same width?
Narrow elephants.

Love the setting but they shouldn't have killed off the coolest faction before it launched.
The Knights of Catraeth of the Catraethi Regenium, a religious faction of brutal, biologically immortal, knights who have their armor grown onto them, and worship their high priestess empress. Such a good faction that had so much potential as a Imperium alternative they could have used. Nuked into oblivion...

If they don’t have thumbs, then they can’t manipulate any objects, right? Guns for apes would look the same as ours.

What would picrel (Pygmy marmoset) use?

This is a weapons board and so you should know all about sectional density. Answer: if you keep getting taller, your sectional density increases. I.e. more mass over your footprint. Your bones, if they remain the same thickness, will eventually be unable to support the load, and if they could, your feet would dig into the ground. It’s why elephants have fuckhuge footprints.

Here’s a thought. Take an ar15 and scale it up 2x in every dimension so that volume-wise, everything is 8x bigger. The bullet has 8x as much momentum, but the gun is 8x heavier so recoil velocity stays the same. Thus recoil energy is 8x higher. However the area of the buttpad is only 4x bigger, so there’s twice as much sectional energy. I imagine you can’t scale this up forever cause after a while, the sectional energy is gonna be too high for soft tissue and bones.

If you scaled up an AR by let’s say 3x in every dimension for an anthropomorphic bipedal elephant, recoil would feel to him like you shooting a 5.56 but with 2/3rds of the stock’s buttpad chopped off. Probably painful. Uncomfortable at the very least.

But also, in practice, the scaling factor is not the same for every part. You could transform a 5.56 into a 308 by scaling up by the cube root of 2, doubling its bullet mass and energy, but the gun that chambers it is not 2x bigger/heavier. More like ~1.3x. So there’s a rapid and disproportional increase in recoil energy as the gun gets bigger. In practice, not in theory.

Wait is this a boltgun but when back when it was "new"?
