I have an AR that has been up to this point pretty reliable. I hadn't been able to shoot in a few months, then the last two trips I took with it I had failures to go into battery, both when I was shooting and when I was dropping the bolt with the bolt release. The rifle was somewhat dirty, and adding some lube seemed to help temporarily (about a mag) before the issue returned. the thing that's weird is that the rifle has been run dirtier and drier than this before, the only difference is that this time the gunk was allowed to sit for a while. So, does that gunk start to settle after a few months an get to a point where it's harder for the gun to push through than when it's fresh gunk?Either way I'm gonna start with a clean and lube, this is more just a curiosity thing.

>>64572062Unscrew the pistol grip screw a bit. There is a spring and tiny detent on the pistol grip itelf that probably got out of the slot in the safety. That should give you enough for you to push the safety back in place and then screw the pistol grip back tight. Then you can install the ambi lever again.

Thanks to you that mentioned the pistol grip and I got reminded of my previous action. Lucky for me the spring was on the ground easy to see. Freaked out since this is my first AR and I don't have any spare, heck I even got a brand new set of imperial allen keys for moving around it. Thanks!
