Now that latest USN program has failed, or USN failed it, (lol) allow me to present a group of new ship types never seen before, that any navy SHOULD be building. :)#1 of maybe 4 completely new types I'll be laying out. Pics later if you are lucky.1)1000-2000tn barely submersible and even optionally manned smallish Arsenal Boat. These would be built around 4 VLS boxes of 4 cells each. The VLS group would be a big "conning tower" of 2 boxes wide and 8 cells long.Besides weak diesel for cruising and limited electric or air-free for submerged, it would be powered by basically 1/2 half of what a LCS has. One 777 engine and 2 water jets.Idea is you get 99% of the benefits of being a sub (protection from Anti-ship missiles and radar) by being even very shallow submerged. VLS would have outer door to launch when barely and briefly surfaced. Most ops would be with none radar reflecting snorkel and receive only radio antennae. I guess you could carry a few pre-loaded Heavy and Lite torps, because why not.At about 1,500tns with 1/2 of LCS power, it would be very fast on surface when fully surfaced.Main idea is to create FUD, since you can never be sure if a submerged thingy isn't around able to launch top tier missiles, and you can never be sure if you sunk a sub or just got decoyed.https://www.seaforces.org/wpnsys/SURFACE/Mk-57-missile-launcher.htm
>>64567298The other types will be:#2) small sub with 3 Heavy weight pre-loaded (no spares) Torps, in the bow, and 4 Lite Torps also pre-loaded, in the gaps between the big 24" tubes, also in the bow. Basically the smallest sub that makes any sense giving rules of geometry.#3) A militarized https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy-lift_ship which would normally carry groups of #1 and #2 designs, since 1&2 would be short range and tough on crews. Since its already mostly submersible, a military version would be barely fully submersible to evade radar and missiles. It would be able to have an optional full flat deck over the main deck, to support aircraft opts, carry lite cargo, etc. It could also serve as a Container ship carrying heavy boxes on the main lower deck, or other heavy cargo like MBTs and other oversized heavy equipment, or other smallish craft. Able to serve as instant ship to shore floating pier after deploy some stuff from its main deck.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy-lift_ship
#4) A Tank-air-erer. A full flat deck (like Jap early carriers) NeoPanmax super-tanker based design, that is mostly a super-tanker, but has modular desk over the main deck and pipes. The deck would be maybe 20ft above main deck to accommodate F-18 tall aircrafts, and would have elevators at the four corners. In addition, inside the main storage tank framing would be a scheme of rails (just weld a few more tabs to frames) to allow lowering, shuffling of Shipping Containers. These ships would be powered to be able to hit 20knots and sail with the fleet. In addition to civilian tank sections, these would have a few more sections to allow open usable spaces in the interior that would be protected on all sides by 50ft of layers of seawater ballast and air-gap and 1" steel plates. These would be cheap most regular tankers and earn their pay in peacetime as tankers or Container ships. Idea is during war they could server as low risk forward air-ops and back up CVs. Due to being massive hollow honey combed, they could soak up hits with little worry of sinking, as well as provide super-heavy logistics.
>>64567298this thing was rejected back at the turn of last century (1900's).
>>64567370it was preddy goot except if only one gun fired it would start spinning and it took a while (and skills) to correct out of that condition. :)They would be all "full reverse on Port" but more often than not they would start spinning in other direction! Took some real skills to bring it back to stopped and pointing forward without over or under correcting.
OP here: I've got at least one even odder proposal. Be back later.
BTW, Chi-Coms are thinking about barely submersiblehttps://www.popsci.com/futuristic-chinese-warship-concept-is-making-waves/
OP here: disregard everything. I'm a nigger
>>64567298Didn't the ziggers turn one of these into an ocean-going yacht and it wound up sinking with all hands because it's an unstable piece of shit that can't handle waves?
>>64567430>>64567430>because it's an unstable piece of shit that can't handle waves? It's was opposite. It was very stable but that created very short period pitching with high acceleration. Instead of slow pu and down of conventional shop it felt like sitting in the pot dragged over hard terrain behind car.
>>64567430>into an ocean-going yachtyeah, some Noble's wife heard it was "max stability design" and she didn't like normal boats that have some roll.
>>64567429what design ideas you got?....that address the rise of anti-ship missiles VS surface ships, including hypersonics?.....and could be constructed fairly quickly and without breaking the bank???I'm all ears.
>>64567429OP's stepbrother here: Navies should give up on building dumb warships and submersibles and focus on building massive fleets of automated networked drone ships to overwhelm or engage enemy defences long enough for a missile strike to take out the enemy. I'm a half nigger by the way our mother was a white woman and a QoS
>>64567298Yer stupid ain't ya bud?
>>64567298Could modern technology actually make puck ships work?
>>64568346IMO "stupid" is a relative term.I'm not the guy who spent the last 30yrs investing in Zumwalt and LCS concepts, even though everyone was screaming not to, presenting facts and logics. :)I'm not the guy who just lost a 20+yr 2 trillion dollars war to a few politically isolated goat herders. :) When USSR lost in Afghanistan, the Taliban was getting the world's most advanced and new at the time MANPADS Stingers.I'm not the guy who's "biggest most powerful navy ever" just fled in shame, fear and embarrassment from the Houthies, leaving Israel's Red Sea port closed with no plans to re-open.
>>64569651Zumwalt was a good design strangled by idiotic senators. It can still do surface-to-surface better than anything else afloat today.
>>64569651>presenting facts and logicsCome on, bro. You gotta make it less obvious than this.
>>64567865Drones and unmanned shit sounds great, but what enemy are you fighting?ChiCom PLA-N? Hypersonics and E-War will frustrate them.Russkies? Ditto, but add SLCMs to fuck with them.Majiikifreekii-stan? Cheap long range ordnance, even artillery, will work.
>>64567298For what it was meant to do, the design had promise. If they had better power plants and azimuth thruster tech back then, it probably would made for a really good monitor.
>>64569765The Smart Money was shitting all over it from get go.Multi-billion dollar ship to do shore shelling, but even its wonder waffen gun puts it in easy range of shit tier missiles. It would've lost to Houthies, because it wouldn't have enough super missiles to deal with spam of cheap missiles.Big "stealth ship" is also dumb. Even if the ship can defeat radar via EW, it still throws a massive wake that can be seen, day or night, and unless its under 10knts, can be picked up by passive sonar. Having a barely submerged ship as I propose, fixes most of that, and even some of the prop cavitation at even mild depths. Also way too many eggs in one basket. Concept fucked from about 6 different directions.Cause was "stealth" was the big thing, so USN said "we need it too".
