Putting aside traditional options, what is actually the perfect ranch gun?

That gun is beautiful

Naboo Royal Guard's standard marksman rifle.

I go weak in the knees seeing wood like that. Imagine it on a lever action too. Beautiful.

Dunno if you're after an actual ranch gun or just want to talk about what a neat gun the one you posted is but either way I approve.

>low recoil
>tiny dimensions
>16" barrel
>varmint cartridge
>reasonably priced
>>

Unironically this. Very compact genuinely fun gun and doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. Certainly not as cheap to blap with as 22lr so if varmints are literally and exclusively tiny stuff at shorter ranges probably best to stay rimfire but if anything bigger is in the mix it's a good one to consider. Even if wood like OP has is ultra sexo.

Look, I’m just gonna say what everyone with a brain is afraid to admit on this so-called “outdoorsman” forum: guns are ruining the sacred art of hunting. Yeah, I said it. Go clutch your "ranch guns" and call me names later.
Real hunters—intimate hunters—don’t need some bang-stick to do the job for them. They rely on poisons and traps, the way nature intended. When you use poison, you’re not just killing a deer… you’re entering a relationship. You’re saying, “I respect you enough to let your body chemistry and my chemistry defeat you.”.
And don’t even get me started on my signature method: decoy feeding. You amateurs hide in stands like frightened squirrels. Meanwhile, I’m out there at dawn, fully committed, wearing my handcrafted deer suit (real hide, none of that Party City trash), walking on all fours, letting the herd "watch me munch" from a trough of carefully prepared pre-poison feed.
You gotta win their trust. You gotta know the deer, spiritually. I look them in the eye and nod like, “Yes brother, I too graze.” That’s when they let their guard down. That’s when the intimacy happens.
Some of you might say, “That’s dangerous, you’ll get gored.” Yeah, well, greatness has a price. Tell me again how squeezing a trigger compares to hand-mixing the perfect lethal pellet ratio while wearing scent glands you scraped off a dead buck with a butter knife. Oh wait—you can’t.
But no, go ahead, keep blasting away with your overpriced optics and your tactical cosplay. Meanwhile I’ll be out there, face-painted like a woodland druid, crawling through ferns, whispering to the herd, earning my harvest the old-fashioned way—with deception, poison, and emotional connection.

Don’t reply if you’re not ready to hunt with your heart.

Well first we must understand the "ranch gun" concept is just the civilian version of a calvary weapon. Principally it must be
>easy to carry and manipulate on horseback (or ATV/ dirtbike)
>fireable from that position
>Primarily meant for small varmints and possibly people
Or to break it down even simpler we need a short rifle that can be shot one handed if need be. >>64571024 is onto something but I'd genuinely recommend a P90 with such a criteria list. Another good pick would be an underfolder AK or "draco" as they call them, assuming you have the arm strength to shoot it one handed

>slap a traditional stock on an AR, making it worse
>now its a ranch rifle

Maybe. I've noticed someone knocking hunters in every thread that's vaguely pertinent. I'm guessing it's an anon from a single mother home in a huge city, with absolutely zero life experience, too risk averse to ever do anything and so criticizes.
I say that because I see that sentiment growing exponentially over the last few years outside of /k/
>>
>>64573087
Not him but I've handled them: they are a visual abomination, but holy fuck is it comfy
>>
>>64570831
>>64571024
>>64572976
Besides the easy to handle part, I think high capacity is also a requirement.
Partially made this thread because a vet friend kept trying to convince me that a semiauto P90 is the perfect ranch gun and I was wondering if I could get crazier opinions here

Or scout.

>>64573265
scout is too common

>>64569723
A ~12" 6.5 Grendel AR.
Seriously that's probably the best combo of affordable cartridge, mid-range cost for gun, handy dimensions (throw it in a truck or tractor and not have it get in the way) lower drop at longer range than 30 cal stuff, and effect on nuisance predator animals.

I owned one of these for a while and while it's a joy to hike with, it feels like it's going to fall apart any minute while shooting it.

A lightweight AR with a suppressor
>>
>>64569723
Really any bullpup fits the bill. Just about any one of them can be held and effectively fired one handed while being very short which is ideal for riding around a property with. A good runner up would be something like an 8" ARP or PCC, again for its diminutive stature
>>
>>64573727
No larporator shit
>>
>>64573727
He should take off that gay attachment shit at the front so he can have an overbarrel suppressor

Calico M 100 or 105 I think

DeLisle Carbine but with swappable barrels/magwells so you can shoot whatever bullet is relevant.
For me, the most convenient thing for a ranch gun is not needing to fuck around with earpro if I see something that needs to be shot.
>But small bullets aren't that loud
I already have EEEEEEEEEEE I have no intention of letting it get worse.
>>
>>64573224
Genuinely he's not too far off base. Consider the usual things you're gonna be blasting are coyotes and raccoons which are both very small creatures. Loaded with something like Gold Dot or a similar hollow point, it'll make quick work of any varmints while having WOUND VECTORS against people
>>
