In head to head combat, would someone with this knife beat out a Ontario Mark 3 Navy Knife carried by a Navy Seal?
yeah
yeah, reach is king
>>64575256He's going to cut himself, otoh, that is the only blood this will ever see.
>>64575256That looks disgusting, but it's actually similar to an indian katar, which was a serious weapon.
>>64575256>head to head combatHe isn't wearing the knife on his hat, so I don't think the knife matters.
>>64575256I think there's a pretty good chance the Seal could get in and stab him just off speed and aggression, but he could get cut up in the process.
>>64575321It's all dependant on one thing; who breaches the center distance first.Navy Seal can't do shit if he's in striking range of AnalFister3000 and can't hit back, but AnalFister is an aged boomer with terminal brain worms, there is an extremely high likelyhood AnalFister will attack out of tempo and allow the Seal to close the distance
>>64575256>Navy SealSpecial Forces being "knife experts" is a movie mythmost of them can't even fight hand to hand properlyonly good ones with the knife I've seen are the immigrants from philippines and gurkhas
>>64576621Steven Seagal is an expert with a nife.
>>64575256Would this unsharpened, unwieldy, pot metal, mall ninja bullshit held by a senile smoker do well against a person literally trained and selected to kill people?
>>64576638And fork
>>64575265Perfect time to drag out the knife-chucks then
>>64575277>>64575292>>64576670I dunno if this is the same guy and I'm not checking, but a select bunch of these ridiculous mall ninja knives are made by a genuinely great knife maker and he just chooses to sometimes make ridiculous knives because he thinks they look cool. I'm pretty sure it's the one that made the original shark-shaped knife that straps to your arm.
>>64577485they are also probably great practice if they're smithing them by handmaking anything not-flat that is not a tube or a funnel and you don't have a hardy of some kind for already is total ass on its own but making some decorative shit like mall ninja knives seems on par with making a chandelier
>>64575315Carlos strikes again!
I suspect the issue would be how heavy it is, and how likely the person you were attacking would be to simply grab it. It's too heavy relative to its length as well, you couldn't even swing it, it would just take so long to recover, probably weighs as much as a great sword. Unironically. So like a katar you're really limited to thrusts. The katar was like the gladius, only useful if you have a shield, and generally armoured. You just press and thrust. That's why it was a knightly weapon, it was associated with armoured troops. Having so many stupid blades you'd also be unable to target any vitals. Whoever you were attacking would offer their left arm, and you couldn't avoid it with your chandelier daggerSo how this plays out is that the guy with the regular knife advances, the katar man can either swing it and be unable to recover, or stab with it and stab the knife man's arm. Either way the knife man just grabs the katar man, who's knife is too long to use in the clinch, snags on everything, is at a fairly fixed angle.Jump on him and shiv the shit out of him, maybe he cuts your arm with the fantasy knife, doesn't change the outcome.
>>64580026For all practical intents it acts as a shield, as long as he keeps it between you and him you can't do shit. It has barbs like a harpoon, the instant he manages to stab you with it you are dead. The mere fact that you are confronting someone who is holding it tells you that you have made some very bad life choices, you either walk away, make friends with him or die;
>>64580086What? Some feral commie metal head might cut my arm, as if I give a shit. Swing a spiky chandelier at me, see what happens.If you can't fence with it, because it's so unwieldy, nay, if you can't even swing it, well I'm just going to grab it and cut my hand/arm. The second we're in the clinche I can stab with a regular knife, he can't stab with the chandelier.If we both had armour, well maybe it's weight becomes relevant. If we've got shield, well maybe i can't just tackle them and fight in the clinch. But all things being equal, someone with a chandelier katar loses in a fight to a knife, a chair, a club, a coat, it's a liability not a weapon.
