It is pretty obvious what is the weak spot. When you see the photos of them destroyed, the turrent is always blown away.

All Russia has to do is weld the turret to the hull.
Thus the turret won't be blown away.
Thus the tank will survive.

People don't see it due to the survive bias, all the tanks that didn't get destroyed, the turret didn't get blown away. Thus it gives the impression that the turret isn't the weak spot.

It was a weak thread, and possibly Russian too.

brother I don't think any so yviet tank that disintegrates when something looks at it funny gets its survivability improved with some welding done

Unironically ukies did "fix" them in some of their post-1991 modernization prototypes, e.g. new turret with a bustle autoloader, normal reverse speed, non-retarded fcs. But they never had the money to actually procure that shit for themselves, trying to sell it to foreign clients, e.g. Turkey.

It's 50 years out of date from a country that doesn't exist anymore. There is no fixing it.

You ever try to blow your nose while holding it closed with your hand?
Now imagine a Soviet tank where the turret can't toss.

There's normally bustle cargo containers and a snorkel back there which slot into the turret dicks.

The Ukrainians already designed a kit to do that. Just replace the whole fucking turret and give it a bustle mounted autoloader with blow out panels. Also having a reverse speed over 3mph. Chinese light tanks already do this with a 105mm guns. They're also offering Brazil a NATO-ized version of the Type99 with a 120mm gun and bustle loader.

External crew mounts, one mobik per shaft so they can ride outside like in a BMP.

>How to fix soviet tanks
Not feasible with Roossia's economy
>Design new turret with armored ammo bustle
>Design new autoloader b/c the old one's are build to get their ammo from below the turred caroussel
There's not enough space inside to turn them into 4-crew tanks with a loader so you'd be better off with a completely new turret. Would get easier if these mongrels wouldn't use seperate ammo components like dad gummed artillery
>>
At absolute minimum western style Insensitive munitions + soviet emulsified diesel. Good luck affording any of that on a zigger budget though lol.

Soviets did actually have handrails for tank desant (although on this particular pictures the guys aren't actually using them), until the T-64 I think?
(early prototypes of the 64 had it too, but by the mid-'60s they had enough BTRs & BMPs to not really have to bother with desants anymore)

but those particular mounting points are something different

This is kind of off topic but has anyone seen pictures of ERA on the lower glacis of soviet tanks? I would think it'd get fucked up to the point of ineffectiveness the first time you came across any sort of vertical obstacle a tank would be expected to clear but surely someone's done it right?

>weld turret to hull
>install rocket nozzles in floor of crew compartment
>ammo detonates on penetrating hit
>tank leapfrogs to next position
>???
>PROFIT
We may unironically be on to something here lads.
