Remember, a handgun is not a replacement for a personality. Carrying a Tokarev or a cap and ball revolver does not inherently make you "cooler" than a guy carrying a Gen 3 Glock 19
>>
>>64589723
yes it does
>>
>>64589723
Carrying a Glock doesn't make you cool either. In fact the Glock you mentioned is outdated.
>>
>>64589723
It does if it's that fictional TT-33 with an underbarrel one shot 12 gauge that you machined yourself.

If you shoot cowboy action and have the skills to back it up, carrying a single action revolver does, in fact, make you cooler than the dude with mediocre skills carrying a glonk. Cap and ball revolvers are too outdated though. You have to use a Ruger Vaquero or SAA replica or really any if the non-conversion cartridge revolvers.

Vz.82 and the derivative CZ 83 are the only Czech Cold War era service pistols worth a damn.

CZ 50 and 70 is the same pistol made way too long with negligible tweaks. Looks quite sleek, is flat, has decent sights and is mechanically quite accurate but sucks in everything else. Ticks all the boxes on paper but doesn't handle well, controls are just so out of reach that you have to break firing grip to do anything and it bites. Decockers are unreliable, firing pins fragile, DA triggers poor and grips too long front to back. Cannot recommend. Here in Czechia you can sometimes get one for free and that should tell you something.

I appreciate the answer, this is kinda what I was looking for.
Could you justify a 50/70 if its cheap enough as a foreigner because funny or is it genuinely useless?

Also if you are familiar with the vz61, are there rubber grips for it?
Ive seen the wood and black plastic but I want to believe I remember seeing rubber as well.

Also recommendations for mounting anything on it?
I would love a light on it.

>Could you justify a 50/70 if its cheap?
Hard to say. I would actually rather carry one (or keep it in a nightstand drawer) than use it as a range toy, as to me it feels downright unpleasant to shoot (it's snappy and pinches me at 2 different points), but YMMV.
I do wholeheartedly recommend trying it out before buying.

>rubber grips for vz.61
No factory rubber grips that I'm aware of, just wood or shiny black plastic. But there is an adapter that lets you use AK grips and bunch of 3D printing files for grips on Cults and Thingiverse.

I'm not really familiar with OG Skorpion mounting solutions and even less with what is or isn't available in the States, but I always thought FUSE cyberpunky conversion kits (picrel) were cool.

How long has the Ruger SP101 had a locking ring on the hammer pivot pin? My old one only retained it with the grip and spring tension. The new one I just got has a locking ring and I had to use a screwdriver just to get it off. I went and deburred everything inside, stoned contact points nice and smooth, then shimmed the trigger, hammer dog, and hammer. It's so smooth now! Now I need to get more sandpaper so I can melt the outside down smooth too and eventually I am going to polish it to a mirror shine. It's gonna be the prettiest pig at the county fair!

I absolutely hate these threads because no one posts any actual good handgun setups other than the 1 or 2 people who have Staccato Ps and that one guy who builds custom 1911s. I have yet to see an actual G17/G45 setup with a RCR/Rmr/x300T setup, pathetic. Ben Stoeger would be disappointed. All of you people shooting these shitty Berettas and Sigs, and not a single G47/G45/G17. Sad.

You will eventually realize you made a mistake not having backup concurrent Glock setups with red dots. Disgusting.

Anyway, have fun with these poorfag setups.

What about the more likely scenario where the “dipshit” with a Glock has 20,000 rounds through them and chooses to carry one because it’s the lightest and most effective tool for the job. I mean, I carry a 642 most often. But, I would run circles around almost any other “dipshit” on this forum with a stock Glock. I don’t even have a glock right now, I have an M&P 2.0. But the point stands. I’ve been carrying daily for 15 years, shooting competition, have shot and carried every variety of firearm from da only to SA/DA striker etc and could likely outshoot any of you. My “duty” sized handgun of choice (19 or larger) is a 9mm polymer double stack. When it comes down to it, if I’ve got 17+1 of 9mm +P in a package the same weight or less as your goofy ahh autist pistol, and I can quickly put rounds exactly where I intend to within 100 yards, then where is your advantage? Also I’m actually autistic, and you’re a redditor.
>>
>>64589903
I'm not terrified of any redditor or 4chan autist that doesn't know how to shoot Glocks

That’s the integrally suppressed variant of the mk2 and I’m not sure how common they are on the civilian market as they stopped making them quite a few years before the suppressor and NFA trend caught on. The mk4 all come with threaded bull barrels and are effectively the same thing with a ruger 22 suppressor attached.

I’m not doxing myself. I’m a regular on other generals here. But I have shot a sub 2.5 inch group with a factory gen 4 Glock 17 at 25 yards with 124gr CCI lawman and regularly take my handguns out to 100 yards on steel plates. I shoot local competitions every year and do fairly well for someone who doesn’t actually give a shit. The point is that I can put shots exactly where I want to when I want to and accuracy is more important than anything else in a gunfight.
>>
>>64592182

Does it matter? I prefaced this by saying that I have 20,000 rounds through Glock pistols and I actually put the time and effort into getting good at shooting handguns over the years. Posting any of my guns would dox me. Posting a practiscore would be actually retarded because I live in a rural area and that would narrow my location down to 10 square mile radius. I’m not trying to brag about my proficiency, I’m just saying that having a certain type of pistol doesn’t automatically make you a superior marksman. There are people who shoot all types of handguns well, and people who don’t. The point is that if you’re competent enough to shoot anything well, that you should carry the most economical pistol because it gives you the biggest advantage in a gunfight. The fundamentals of marksmanship aren’t specific to one type of pistol. And to be honest, there are vastly more excellent Glock shooters out there than there are any other make or model because of the simple fact that they’re the most economically lethal option for excellent shooters. By economically I mean size to weight to capacity and lethality. Then you bring in the factor of durability and aftermarket support and it’s not a surprise why so many excellent shooters choose to carry a Glock over other pistols. It’s like trying to argue that a Nissan GTR isn’t an excellent car just because some dipshits who don’t know how to drive buy them and crash them. It’s a skill issue, and because they’re so popular there tend to be more people on the low to average skill side of the bell curve than the high side. It’s the same with AR-15’s. Everyone has one, most people are below average in skill with one. Doesn’t mean the weapon isn’t capable of being one of the most effective weapons in the right hands. I would not take a highly skilled shooter with a lever action 30-30 over a highly skilled shooter with a mk18 if my life depended on it.
>>
>>64592233
Claws can be whack. Like sometimes they make it really hard to get your holster on and off and can cause things like your sights or optic to dig into your hip when sitting or walking and rub your skin raw. It’s more comfortable in my opinion to carry without a claw, but the downside is that your handgun will print more. I don’t care about printing so I don’t use a wing claw. I carry somewhere between 3 and 3:30 and if you see my gun that’s your problem.

Patently false. I returned my enigma after a week with it and got into an argument with the owner because it cause a severe rash all over my groin. To be fair I drive semi trucks that are bumpy, but they are only comfortable if you’re someone who isn’t highly active or doesn’t spend a lot of time in commercial vehicles. It also helps that your holster is leather. But even the buckles and belt rubbed me raw.

But I will say if you have a manual safety and you don’t take your holster off a lot probably the most comfortable carry option out there is a hybrid like a galco kingtuk. You get the positive retention of a kydex holster with the comfort of a leather holster and don’t have to worry about the trigger guard getting something stuck in it because you have a manual safety. Phlster products are dogwater tho.

I have a stainless mil spec Springfield and like it. It’s the bastard middle child of the wasteland that is 1911 production.. it is unloved by the traditionalists who point out it’s got differences from the GI 1911…. And is more expensive than other more replica oriented options.. its not well liked by the tacticool crowd because it doesn’t have the beaver tail safety, or speed holes in the trigger or front slide serrations….

If you want a nice 1911 that looks traditional, but has some of the nicer functional upgrades like the slightly larger ejection port, and sights of a height that are functional compared to the military original, but don’t give it the over the top tacticool look, then it’s a great option. I actually keep mine in my house with some loaded mags because it’s the most reliable of my semi autos, and it’s less likely to go through multiple walls with hollow points.. up to probably 5k rounds through it, owned for about 3 years now. No issues honestly. Put the eyelash scrape on the side because learning is a process… no plans to polish it off…. 10/10 would buy again. Practice with your thumbs on top of the slide lock and safety lever…. Just don’t ride the slide.

Nta but I messed with a SS mil spec at the store earlier today and no shit, it was one of the tightest feeling non custom 1911s I’ve ever felt. The slide to frame fit was perfect and had zero play, the barrel itself was perfectly fit and had zero play, genuinely really impressive for the most basic Springfield model. For sure one of the nicest feeling 1911s I’ve handled. Makes my tisas feel like a piece of shit in comparison, and that’s a good pistol lmao.

The two I got with it work well, picked up some used kimbers cheap that also work well. For what it’s worth I didn’t buy the lumber mags over more Springfield mags, it’s just they were like 10$ a piece used so I grabbed the 3 they had.

There's no point in linking you to some czech e-shops as you won't be able to get the parts sent to you anyway. Not that it's verboten but with the Great American Tariff Fuckery of 2025 our post suspended commercial package services to USA cause they just can't arrange for customs clearance on arrival.
Can't give any advice on what's available on american market too - can't buy anything there with a non-US debit card so no point checking out stuff I can't get. I just know that vz58usa dot com offers some Skorpion mounts but AFAIK everything is out of stock.

Get a TLR 7 if you have a Glock 19-sized gun. Get a TLR 1 or an X300 if you have a Glock 17-sized gun (or bigger). You probably don't *need* more than 600 lumens unless this gun is being used as a patrol weapon or something. Candela vs lumens is another discussion I don't want to get into, for brevity's sake.

For optics, the 407, 507, 507 Comp, RMR, RCR are all good RMR-pattern options. For Shield/RMSc options, look at the EPS and EPS Carry. For DPP pattern options, people like the Vortex Defender.

If you're getting your gun milled, you're probably best off getting it milled for the RMR pattern.

There's no foolproof way to comfortably carry, but you can try to find something that works for you. PHLster has good advice: https://www.phlsterholsters.com/how-to-conceal-a-gun-comfortably-and-safely

Their advice is also why I'm designing holsters that fit tight to the gun without shrinkwrapping it, because while I don't want a ton of extra holster to conceal, I do want to maximize contact on the skin side, and I personally like a subtle integrated wedge.

How important is having a battery powered sight on a handgun actually?
Wouldnt tritium be fine?
>>
>>64595094
>How important is having a battery powered sight on a handgun actually?
it's significantly faster for target acquisition, tritium isn't bright enough or can project a red dot the way a LED emitter can.
>>
>>64595103
Hypothetically in a situation where shaving fractions of a second off of target acquisition time matters wouldnt point shooting suffice?
Its a bit old school, but serious question

The RXM does look more ergonomic and is feature rich but Ruger never had a reputation for quality control. It might take some time but the Gen3 spec will eventually get to the same point as AR-15's with quality offerings from various manufacturers

using a red dot effectively is the same as point shooting where you look at the target and shoot the target. But with a red dot a red dot will appear on the target as you look at it if your eye and optic are aligned. There shouldn't be any "finding the dot/sight" as if your index was correct it's already there on the target.

Depending on target distance you should switch aiming styles, close targets you do not need to confirm the sights on target and just blast away, but at longer or moving targets you use the dot. Tracking a moving target with a dot is easier than maintaining sight alignment while tracking the target. The dot allows for target focus in a way irons do not.

Red dot optics are old school. They have been used in competitive shooting for many decades now and have continuously shown their superiority to irons

Thanks, but I really only see my pistol ever being used on close targets, even in self-defense situations. I also think tritium sights will suffice for in the dark, which is more what Im thinking about.
>Red dot optics are old school. They have been used in competitive shooting for many decades now and have continuously shown their superiority to irons
Red dots on 99% of peoples guns, especially pistols, are pretty new. I agree on their effectiveness but I just cant justify the cost and would rather buy a good light.
I will ask though what is your opinion on them snagging when drawing whilst concealed?

>Thanks, but I really only see my pistol ever being used on close targets, even in self-defense situations
Even at that red dots still excel by showing a flash of red on the target, you can kind of get the same effect of colored front irons. Red dots are also extremely good training aids since they show exactly where the gun is aiming at all times, no lies from it where you're aiming from any sort of sight misalignment. If you are choosing between a red dot or a light, then probably a light, but at that same time then ammo is also prohibitively expensive for you as well. That means then Dry Fire is your training and you then shoot live fire to test out your training instead of only practicing live fire once a year.

Red dots allow for good dry fire training, being able to pull the trigger without disturbing the sights, the red dot does not lie as I said where slight movement in irons does. Having a red dot on your carry pistol is more of a fight the way you train thing, as many people train with red dots so they might as well carry the way they train. Some still carry irons but red dot skills do cross over to irons.

>I will ask though what is your opinion on them snagging when drawing whilst concealed?
It's a possibility, you just need to train. One of the benefits of appendix carry (11-1 o clock carry) is that you have easier control of your clothes with your off hand verses 3 or 4 o clock carry.

For me what really sells a red dot is rapid fire, since I can easily see the red dot return to the target before firing again, either as a streak of red across the torso or I can let it settle into a dot. Finding irons in rapid fire is much harder.

If it's dark enough that you actually see the tritium, you need a flashlight. Tritium is also guaranteed to fade.
If it's too dark for you to use iron sights, you need a flashlight.
A dot is not really required, but some light source is. In well-lit conditions you don't need either.

The recoil impulse went from a hit to my hand to sharply stinging my hand
>WTF
Why the hell are my grips making the recoil sting? Same gun same load, only difference is the grip material being wood rather than rubber. Why the hell do wood grips exist if the difference is that huge?
>>
>>64595657
Wood is hard and doesn't compress. While honestly wood and other hard grips like g10 and fake ivory are used just to make revolver more pretty, there's a tiny utility difference, light shirts riding on the grip get caught on rubber and climb up, making them print, but slide down hard slick grips.
>>
>>64595657
That sucks. I have a similar issue with PPKs and P230s in .380 acp. They cause a bit of pain in the web of my thumb. Annoying.
But yeah, this anon nailed it
>>64595667
I generally hate dildo grips, but on revolvers, they make sense because you are getting 100% of the recoil and they help delay the delivery. Ultimately, I feel like they make it harder to get back on target, but that might just be psychological.
In any case, I don't want to shoot a 2" .357 without them.
>>
>>64595657
Despite looking pretty, altamont grips aren't rounded well where the web of your hand goes. They're kind of sharp. This is a common complaint with them.
>>
I have a question but I'm waiting for the next thread
>>
>>64595657
This is why most stock grips are rubber nowadays. You should have gotten an SP101. You get rubber grips, but you can replace the panels with pretty wood or pearl or whatever your faggy heart desires. Or you could just keep the plastic panels and not spend money on something that has no use at all and are only really seen by you.

Because they have a peg grip frame rather than a nice round extension of the frame like a Smith. SP101 is great with one pice grips that slip over the peg, but it's harder to design wood grips for it. They tend to require being halved and screwed together.
