I think the best metric for a movie is how memorable it is, and I remember way more of Sith than Jedi despite having not seen either in well over a decade. >>65174673I disagree, though I understand it's all just opinions at this point. I remember Jedi much more, and more fondly than episode 3. Culminating a shitshow is still a shitshow, I felt nothing when Anakin finally turned to the dark side, his entire character was annoying, argumentative, extreme, and he had basically no ACTUAL relationship with Obi-wan or Padme, rather the story just forced them to be friends, despite on screen them doing nothing but being awkward and fighting all the time. Especially with how stupid Anakin was with the whole "I had a dream Padme is gonna die so I'm going to kill a jedi master to save Palpatine, then fall to me knees in regret, then immediately say I'm going to just do whatever Palpatine wants now. Honestly, and ironically, the ending of Jedi felt more cohesive than the beginning, rescuing Han from Jabba doesn't make a ton of sense given that he's a high ranking member of the rebel alliance, if they wanted to rescue him they shoulda just showed up in force and told Jabba to fuck off.Ewoks are ironically one of the really bad portions that I don't mind cuz I grew up with it, I don't think they're a good addition mind you, they just don't bother me, but I can totally understand why it's stupid to have teddy bears, and wouldn't be upset if they didn't exist. The second Death Star however, I'm actually on board with. The Empire dissolved the senate in A New Hope, and changed its entire strategy to using this battle station to maintain order, after it was destroyed it actually makes sense they'd rush to build a second one, since now the rebellion is much larger and includes entire planets and their native species getting involved.

>>65176415NTA, but having actually seen it again within the last few years, fuck no. That's where they set up the whole train wreck, letting in an emotional time bomb of dependency issues against their better judgement, because the alternative is that an unqualified knight fresh out of his own training leaves the order and does it with no oversight, because the one jedi that stood a chance of being able to pull that off begged for it with his dying breath. It shows us the sheer level of chess that Palpatine is playing on, warping LE TOTAL GOOD GUY VICTORY into his own ascencion (incidental: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocDvmJ1VSS4 ). And it provides our parallel with Luke, for contrasting their eventual fates. If one of the more common jokes about Clones is "why couldn't we get the movie where they fight the gundarks?", how the hell do you think leaving all of that to talky-talky scenes would have gone?>flashbacksStar Wars does not do flashbacks, JJ you fucking buffoon.
>>65176578Not him but all of what you said is proof of the terrible writing lol.>jedi strive to guard against people who can't control their emotions so thoroughly to the point that they start as basically toddlers>eh well GUESS WE CAN LET EM TRAIN instead of you know, expelling them from the order and cutting off their training before they become hyper emotional space wizards, you know, CUZ QUI GOONER WANTED IT. Like...what?>level of chess Palpatine is playing>literally hinges on the fact that everyone playing against him is written to be retardedPalpatine makes no moves through the prequels, he literally just has all his pieces in line. This isn't because he's smart, it's because he has multiple deus ex machinas at his disposal, again, from poor writing. Palpatine says he'll return emergency powers, he doesn't, goes on to create a galactic empire, majority is cool with it. Palpatine tricks Anakin into thinking he has magic to save Padme, he doesn't, Anakin goes along with it anyway. Palpatine has a clone army at his disposal with a secret code to allow him to slaughter every jedi and take over the galaxy, no one stops to inspect the clones or devises a way to ensure the orders given to them can't come from a single source. There's aren't great, smart, genius moves, this is Lucas writing Palpatine getting everything he wants because he has to be in charge when the OT takes place. It also works against Luke's success. You have this guy who is written to just have perfect foresight, power, manipulation on an irresistible level, can diminish other's force abilities, etc etc, but he gets thrown down a tube by Vader. It makes no fucking sense, people who think the prequels are good have child brain, they never grew up, they're part of generation video essay where as long as the content creator shows a couple easter eggs they didn't know, and it confirms their bias towards a product, suddenly they take it as gospel of why the product they like is a masterpiece

Your argument is the same shit we said back when the prequels came out, people fucking hated them, kids were forgiven for enjoying them because kids are idiots, we just never expected kids to continue being idiots into adulthood. Mark my words, the sequels will have their own video essay renaissance, even idiot out there wants to know that shitty thing they like isn't actually shitty, and everyone else was just wrong and boomer about it.Mind you, you're allowed to like whatever you like, I like all kinds of shitty stuff, but I'm under no delusion that they're a "masterpiece."
>>65176578Everything involving Anakin was halfbaked and Lucas relied on it being a prequel where everyone knew the gist of what happened as a substitute for good character writing. If you must keep TPM you can drop Qui-Gon entirely, made the film about Obi-Wan and Anakin, and saved the time filler pod racing for more important shit - like actually making us think Anakin and Padme have an emotional connection. You can even go further with Anakin's attachment and abandonment issues while adding to his dissatisfaction with the Jedi. After they escape Naboo with Padme, Anakin suggest hiding on Tatooine, it's then explained that he was born there as a slave before being taken by the Jedi Order. You use this information to establish that Anakin is still kinda sore leaving his mom behind as a slave but accepts he leads a better life because of it. They land and Anakin immediately goes out to find her with Padme in tow, eventually discovering that she escaped slavery and leads a quiet life as a moisture farmer with her husband and stepkids. Not only does he get the dramatic irony of discovering his life would have turned out fine if he hadn't abandoned his mom, he discovers that all he really wants is a family and life of his own as opposed to the asceticism of the Order. With Darth Maul coming for them they have to leave Tatooine with Anakin promising to return. And with that you literally set up everything involving Anakin's character arc and you're only 2/3rds the way through the first film.
>>65176733>eh well GUESS WE CAN LET EM TRAIN instead of you know, expelling them from the order and cutting off their training before they become hyper emotional space wizards, you know, CUZ QUI GOONER WANTED IT. Like...what?And what, let Obi-Wan run off and train Anakin without even the vague semblance of a safety net the order tried to put up? The secret sauce was that he was very good at just looking like a nice, inoffensive guy. It was always someone else giving him power, which he oh so humbly and reluctantly accepted. It was Padme that called for a vote of no confidence, Jar Jar that proposed emergency powers. The Senate voted to extend his term, and it was Yoda that dropped out of the sky with a mystery army, which the Kaminoans swear was paid for by the Jedi, and they instantly take the Jedi on as officers, so what the fuck are you up to, Ketamine Kermit, hmmmm?>>65176791One of my favorite little details is how starfighter weapons have gimball and dynamic gun convergence adjustment.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMfuJBnYNncIt makes for a fun balance between the funny WW2 wild spray and the precision lethality you'd expect out of a sci-fi setting. >>65176874>They're movies for childrenThen why are you defending it?>>65176865>And what, let Obi-Wan run off and train Anakin without even the vague semblance of a safety net the order tried to put up?Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying, the EU had already established this was a thing up to that point, and if you don't consider that canon, at least understand the idea that the order of borderline Vulcans who place logic and doing what's right above emotions guiding them probably wouldn't be cool with just taking on an unstable apprentice to learn how to do dangerous space magicks because you're literally being overly emotional and letting those feelings guide you. Also, it makes Obi-wan and Yoda seem retarded and hypocritical, again, helping ruin characters that were once seen as wise. Prequels do the same shit the sequels do, ruin good characters, tell bad stories.>Is a phenomenally good gaslighterYeah, if you're able to be gaslit by a 10 year old. Literally the scene tied to the approval of emergency powers at the senate they're talking about approving the clone army.>Do you even know when the good guys became aware of that, and who told them about it?Well it would definitely be information at risk of being exposed given that the leader of the Trade Federation were captured at the end of Phantom Menace.>I think you have an issue understanding the basic premise of a tragedyI'm sorry, I wasn't aware the basic premise of tragedy required everyone in the movie to be never ask questions, go with things even after they've been exposed as evil plans, and just trust anything that might be convenient despite the fact that it seemingly came from nowhere, information about it was deleted, and it carried the potential risk of handing the entire galaxy to a potential hidden threat that everyone in the movie admitted they were aware of.You just don't understand what good writing looks like because of your child brain and confirmation bias, the video essays told you it was a masterpiece, and you REALLY love them, so you believe it through and through, willfully ignoring glaring flaws because "That's not what Star Wars Theory told me!" It's also ironic that you keep linking videos to the movies, when you yourself don't remember what was actually said, or the context of given situations.
>>65177018>"nuh uh"compelling>Literally the scene tied to the approval of emergency powers at the senate they're talking about approving the clone army.Exactly. Oh, and the other team just happens to be led by a former Jedi, how convenient. Palpatine is not the suspicious guy in the room, and that's why it was so easy to keep heaping powers on him.>Well it would definitely be information at risk of being exposed given that the leader of the Trade Federation were captured at the end of Phantom Menace. So you don't know, and your retort is "it would have made more sense if Gunray just admitted to conspiring with shadowy powers to catastrophically fuck up the Republic".>[wall of bullshit]Genuine question, when was the last time you watched Clones? If we're straying into personal attacks, I'm going to guess it was 2003, and everything since then was with a Red Letter voiceover, the most telling aspect being your inability to distinguish between hating everything about this situation and admitting that they are flying blind for trust. >>65176961Honestly, I prefer the Lancer class but that's not really an option here.
>>65177329Okay, I can see we're winding down, so I'm gonna ignore all your other bullshit and stick with>I'm pointing out plot holes, and you're running around trying to pretend they actually make sense if I only buy into the shitty writing. If the writing makes sense, then it's not a plot hole. You are simply the latest in a long tradition of retards that failed to absorb the plain, on-screen text, and blamed it on everything but yourself.
>>65177347What if I don't think there are any plotholes, but I think the writing is garbage?
>>65177347>I'm going to willfully ignore critically thinking about the subject, and then ignore your posts because I've got baby brain and love me some poorly written Star Wars and can't cope with being wrong."Gotcha, I'd leave too if I got thorough btfo.
>>65177358Then I'd say it's probably actually the delivery that's your real problem. One of the most iconic scenes in the franchise is exactly the same kind of cheese, but sold exceptionally well. Ian MacDiarmid and Christopher Lee also steal the hell out of the prequels in how they work their material. For Christensen in particular, trying to mix that writing style with an emotionally unstable teenage character is an incredible challenge, and I'm not entirely surprised that the result is janky. His physical acting is damned good, though.
>>65177393Reminder you had no actual rebuttal to what I was saying aside from repeatedly misrepresenting my argument, if you think your interpretation has value, stop lol.
>>65177393Delivery is separate from writing, and covers far less in terms of final product.
>>65177416You don't have an argument, you have a baseless assertion. You attempt to cite examples, and every time I answer them, you retreat to "that's irrelevant/you're misinterpreting me/idklol". You complain about the Jedi making bad decisions, when the whole political arc of the trilogy is the Jedi being deprived of good options. You freely engage in coulda/shoulda/woulda thinking, then chastise me for doing the same. You claim to be thinking critically, but display a shocking lack of familiarity with the source material. Also, you're a furry avatarfag. I am done speaking with you.Fuck yaMudda>>65177452That's a whole philosophical debate unto itself that probably really does belong on /tv/. Art gonna be wishy-washy like that.
>>65177502I thought you were going to ignore my posts, btfo again lol.>you're misrepresenting meWell, you are, I asked to cite where I said any of what you claimed, that's when you opted out. You lose this one.>I am done speaking with you.I accept your defeat.
>>65175646You have eyebrows but no pubes anon.
I would be the future equivalent of a gunsmith, but would render my services to whoever paid the most, because the Rebellion is cucked compared to the Empire. Simple as. >Star Wars is gay and cuckedAgreed. So the challenge is, what would you do about Star Wars to make it /k/ approved. The last time I remembered we had pure /k/ino was anything the ARC Troopers did in the 2003 Clone Wars animation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJ06YqytYMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIj7gIDFDe4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRLyJ2g3d0M
