The only potential perk is you can be assigned to any base, so you could end up somewhere really cool...or somewhere really lame. There's a reason that career field is never short in demand. Went to college with a bachelor's, but my GPA is crap (3.0) and I have next to no references. Also, the degree is Marketing, rip. Could I still make it to an officer school for one of the branches, or should I suck it up and enlist somewhere? What can I expect while I'm slaved to Uncle Sam? I don't know why, some retard part of me wants to join adult boy scouts, where I can get paid poorly to be fit and maybe die. I'm not a patriotic person, nor do I come from a family with an extensive military background (my Grandfather was a Lao Green Beret, a Captain, whom the US military trained in preparation for their operations preceding the Vietnam War... he also had good sight unlike myself and kind of but not really kidnapped my grandmother into one of those arranged marriages by parking a parade in front of her shack and paying multiple dowries). I'd be commissioning or enlisting behind my parent's backs, being that they're entirely against me dying for "rich people."

If I ever joined, or if I were drafted, I feel I'd only be okay with the work so long as I've the attitude of a merc. Yeah, I could get paid to shoot people, or participate in morally questionable activities, but that's just part of the job and I'd be okay with it. Like, if I had to die, I wouldn't be dying for my country or the rich, I'd be dying personally for money or my screwed-up sense of self-fulfillment. A disability gained from combat would be the worst outcome I could imagine, but I think I'd make do so long as it's not my dick and balls that are lost.

Any other vets having a hard time adjusting to civilian life after getting out? I've been out for a year now after doing two full contracts and i feel like i cant relate to most people.
