Is it worth it except for the pictures?
>>24848148sure if you're a casual jungian but you should know it's a filtered version of his original black books not even half of the material was carried over
>>24848148Only if you acknowledge that it was never intended for publication, and is one of the most personal works ever written. If you want to spend that kind of money on something so obscure, don't complain if understanding eludes you.>>24848208>The Red Book is for casualsLOL pseud.
>guy wills himself into a florid psychotic episode and for some reason thinks this qualifies him to morally lecture the rest of humanity on every issue in existenceliterally what the fuck was jung's problem?
>>24848208Are these even publicly available yet?
>>24848244The guy was shown visions of Europe being washed in waves a blood months before WW1 and continued from there to interface with the divine through his subconscious for years after. It’s your fault if you can’t see past your own necrotic modern perspective to actually read and understand what Jung was getting at and was in touch with.
>>24848257>months before WW1You say this like this is an impressive or significant achievement. Many people predicted a large imperialist European war happening around that time because it was fucking obvious that it was going to happen.
>>24848268Everyone was completely delusional and thought peace through trade was going to hold. Over rationalism is a sign of a diseased and necrotic modern mind.
>>24848270I agree with you but come on, there were near misses on outbreaks of war multiple times between the 1890s and 1914.
>>24848270>Everyone was completely delusional and thought peace through trade was going to hold. This is profoundly ahistorical. August Niemann, in 1904, wrote a utopian book about a world war in which Germany would conquer England (though he incorrectly predicted that France and Russia would side with Germany.) In 1908 HG Wells was writing about a future American war against Germany and Japan involving aerial warfare. And of course, many years earlier, in 1888, Engels (prescient as always) predicted a continent-wide European war stemming from imperialist conflicts over territory and markets.Did some people naively believe that trade alliances would prevent war? Yes, of course. But Jung was far from the only person who saw the writing on the wall, and those other writers didn't need psychedelic and schizophrenic visions to see it either.
>>24848148Yes but you have to read the bible, neet'cha, hegel, modern christian apologists, plato, and maybe 2-3 other major works of jung to get anything out of it

I'm a shitter whose never read psychology, but jung seems less redpilled than freud. In a good way. Should I pick up and read jung?
If you haven't read Aion or Alchemical Studies I don't know what you hope to gain by reading The Red Book. Jung's published material was already esoteric on its own, but at least he was holding your hand along the way. The Red Book is pure schizo-babble.
>>24848148Thaf book looks comically large with comically funny font like in whataver spunchbob episode
>>24848863Artistically, the Red Book is practically worthless, and Jung would agree. But psychologically and philosophically it's of immense value. Finnegans Wake and The Cantos are both 10/10 as far as artistry is concerned.
Thoughts?
