>>25295645Architecture isOutside beauty elevatesTo great poetry
>>25295637Depends on what you mean by "highest form". In my view, music is the purest example of Art. I define Art as anything that communicates emotions rather than concrete concepts. A manual and a poem are both communicative, but the manual's intent is to communicate concepts, while a poem's intent is to communicate emotion.Poetry requires the person to read the content, interpret it and form an image in their mind; it is this image that creates the emotion; the communication is indirect. For music, there is often no real interpretation to be made and no image to produce; you can experience the music as is.
It's only good when it rhymes. Talking about a womans hair being yellow as wheat, and eyes as blue as the ocean, etc is fine and all, but still.
>>25295682>repetitive beats that make niggers and hylics want to hump are the highest of artno

>>25295746I have no further comments
>>25295771No because games are games and not art.
>>25295637Film > visual art = music > poetry >>> proseThe order should be defined by the way that each medium syntheses its lower order art forms. Prose is at bottom, simply because it is the most imminent mode of communication as the language of the everyday. Poetry is one level up because it takes the language of the everyday and gives it metric/metonymic weight- it turns it into aestheticised language. Music and visual art are equivalent because they operate on distinct aesthetic registers that cannot supersede one other but are an order above poetry because they no longer require mediation: emotions, ideas and concepts can be communicated directly without a typographic middle man.It is in this sense that Film is the highest form of art by virtue of containing all other forms of art within it. It’s also why it is so challenging to make a truly great film that respects the medium as the highest artform, a script that reads like poetry, a pitch-perfect soundtrack, masterful cinematography, editing, etc.. I am unsure that we have ever seen a truly Great Film in the same way we have seen a Great Book, a Great Work of Art, a Great Symphony, etc., simply because a Great Film demands all 3 to be Great.
>>25295776Wrong. See:>>25295746
>>25295774>>25295774fair, but then still , movie musicals have more art in them than theater in theory right?
>>25295782No because film is a medium, not a form of art.
>>25295781Film is poetry (the script), music (the soundtrack) AND visual art (cinematography). Music is only 2/3. I’d say your math is a 3rd short.
>>25295787See:>>25295784For example, music is the art form and CDs/wavs/LPs are the medium. Do you understand now?
>>25295784Nta but I think it’s fair to assume that when people say “film is a form of art” they mean “film-making” rather than the physical medium itself
>>25295788See>>25295787Nitpicking over semantics. Why don’t you make an actual argument?
>>25295790That’s disingenuous because it’s just a visual storytelling medium. Anything that makes it “unique” from other visual media is quite literally a product of the medium.
>>25295792Meant to quote>>25295790
>>25295637EPIC poetry is the highest form of Art.

>>25295794>visual storytelling mediumAnd I could call fiction a linguistic storytelling medium but that wouldn’t change the fact that non-narrative literature (and film) exists.>Anything that makes it “unique” from other visual media is quite literally a product of the mediumCorrect. But as stated previously, what makes it the highest art form is because it synthesises the lower order forms. It is “unique” in the sense that it is the only artform that is truly comprehensive, not unique because it is contingent on the specific properties of film as medium.
>>25295815Your argument actually makes film seem *less* significant. I think you should take a few beats and get your head screwed on straight before you try to shitpost about things you don’t understand.

>>25295853If I can understand the content of their poem, they are not a keen poet.
>>25295776>It is in this sense that Film is the highest form of art by virtue of containing all other forms of art within itThis was my reasoning for making theater the highest form. Film is understandable, but theater has the live-action element to it
>>25295830Your “argument” has consisted solely of semantic nitpicking, poor definitions (“music is poetry + extra art”? Such specificity!) and general posturing. You’re even posing as another anon to try and make yourself look better >>25295852 here. Pathetic
>>25295870I understand that but you’re still unfortunately wrong.
>>25295873If it’s such a flimsy argument, dissect it. Otherwise it’s poor form to complain about an argument you’re unable to dismantle. I hope this is a learning opportunity for you anon, because you definitely have some capacity to understand. Just not enough, yet.
>>25295870>Film is understandable, but theater has the live-action element to itThe problem with this is that the audience is rooted in place and can only view the mis-en-scene from a fixed angle. The reason why I posed film over theatre is because the ability to move the audience’s perspective introduces entirely new dimensions to how we receive and engage with the work. Championing live-action is a respectable position tho even if I disagree with it
>>25295883Again you’re reckoning with the differences of mediums and not forms. You’re more than an exponent below where you should be in this argument.
>>25295883Fair enough. I just think that an astute observer should be able to point out the focal points of a play intuitively
>>25295898Neither of you have considered that the theater also engages your sense of smell and adds a layer of implied social decorum. Regardless, these are mediums and not art forms.

I do think it's interesting to think about to the 18th, 19th centuries when any intellectual was expected to be able to compose verse and drama in any language they're fluent in. A pre-novel time. No one gives a shit about poetry or drama anymore, not to mention intellectuals are not expected to compose in general.

>>25297325Go on
>>25297327The thought is already expressed in overly autistic detail. The torch is passed, the data transmitted, you process it or you don't. If I complicate it further the formula is diluted. And it continues to suck at meter somehow, meanwhile its solving previously unsolved problems in mathematics
>>25297980AI music only works with structurally repetitive genres like dance music, and even then it is garbage at actually finessing musical moments or building to anything interesting. The best way I’ve been able to use AI to work on music is just brainstorming and asking it to use its search tools to find books for me. It can program MIDI to a minimally passing degree, unable to write in rests, syncopation or emphasize rhythm. It makes pretty boring choices too
every time I try to get into poetry I give up pretty much instantly, because if its not rhyming, I have no idea how I'm possibly meant to interpret the meter

>>25297393Explain your poem
>>25298302I already did
>>25298008It's okay, most resources are very bad at teaching scansion. Just remember that if well written the rhythm naturally comes to the fore, longer syllables are usually but not always stressed, mono-syllables allow for varying stress patterns, metrical variations are well established and that a single metre even without metrical variations can still be handled in widely diverse rhythmic manners. Rhyme has nothing to do with identifying the metre.
>No, being bad at understanding poetry or lyrics does not mean you have a low IQ.>Intelligence is multifaceted: IQ tests primarily measure analytical, logical, and verbal reasoning skills, but they do not fully capture creative, emotional, or artistic intelligence. Many individuals with high IQs struggle with the abstract, metaphorical, or non-literal language often found in poetry.>Skill vs. Trait: Understanding complex literary themes is often a learned skill rather than an innate measure of intelligence. Struggles with poetry can stem from a preference for literal interpretation, lack of exposure to specific literary styles, or neurodivergent traits (such as autism), none of which indicate low intelligence.>Context matters: While low IQ (typically defined as a score below 70) can involve challenges with complex language comprehension, difficulty with poetry is not a diagnostic indicator. People with average or above-average intelligence frequently find poetry challenging or unintuitive, while those with lower IQs may still appreciate the rhythm or emotional resonance of art.
