I've been on 4chan for 18 years but this is my first time here.

I need a novel set in the snow and cold, like the Terror or that movie with Liam Neeson, The Grey

Are you also suffering through winter in the southern hemisphere?
>>
>>25296399
No, I'm in California and it was 80 degrees today.
But I quit drinking after 10 years and need something to do so I make my room as dark as possible, blast the AC, play some YouTube blizzard atmosphere for sleep video and eat a chocolate bar and read

That's comfy
What kind of chocolate bars do people in California eat?
>>
>>25296405
I don't know what other people do, but I like dark chocolate because of the antioxidants. Anything more than 60% Cacao

if you want /lit/-approved scifi (? maybe? genre unclear) that's a vague metaphor for heroin withdrawal (kavan was a lifelong junky) then picrel is excellent

Someone else mentioned Jack London, pretty sure Into the Wild or the Call of the Wild or whatever it's called has some.
A fun one I read was just a few pages but it was John Muir talking about exploring Yosemite and there was a snow storm while he was up there and he got stuck so he just made a little cave under the snow and hunkered down for a week or two, not concerned in the slightest

Who Goes There? is the novella that The Thing is based on. It's set in Antarctica.
Not a novel, but an entertaining poem about the snow and cold is "The Cremation of Sam McGee" by Robert W. Service.

I wish there were more games or pieces of media which would invoke the same or similar feeling or environment. The modern noir environment with winter as setting
