I'm just genuinely confused why this is so praised. It's good for what it is, but the Davao scene sucked and that was suppose to be the big punchy scene as per the trailer. Even the F91 intro scene had more weight to it. Everything else is LITERALLY setup. There's like no big payoff in the movie because it's just prepping for the next 2 movies.

It has a lot of great stuff, but it has very big detrimental flaws as well.It really pisses me off that we didn't get a better look into Hathaway's philosophy/ideals and what motivated him to study, and later agree with, Char. I hope the 2nd movie touches on this and fills in with the stuff we see in the novels.

It's easy to see how he developed this way from that standpoint.
