>>23653660The version of the first opening in old fansubs has some of my favorite lyrics for an anime OP. Feels like it was written specifically for lost generations (e.g., Millennials). Literally brings a tear to my eye, as does the show's premise, which is imbued with an astounding amount of pathos that I'm not sure the series itself quite lives up to. It sometimes gets a bit too silly and unfocused when just dealing straight with, "Young people trying to hold society together after their parents threw away a perfectly good future," would be gold in and of itself.

>>23653660I'm about halfway through and the plot is incredibly boring apart from 1-2 good individual episodes. It's likely going to ramp up soon, I find most Gundam does when they go to space, but right now it feels like disjointed plot of the week shit while Tiffa gets kidnapped over and over again. The episode with the two side guys going off and doing their own thing was pretty neat at least.

That's what really sold me on the show.The space is arc more plot focused, since it was done after the show's episode run was cut already, so they cut all episodic adventures and focus on taking the plot to the finish line.
Show felt like it lost all of its uniqueness after awhile. It just became a standard Gundam show.The Vulture stuff disappeared and was barely mentioned later on. Jamil's Vulture friends he called to help them save Tiffa never appear again. Garrod and Tiffa were a great romance but all the other romance sucked. The DX had the best build up to any upgraded suit in the franchise while the other 4 Gundams got theirs with no fanfare. The whole arc about that prince was pointless and took up too much time. Most importantly, it didn't have the flash Wing or G had. People compare Leopard and Heavyarms all the time and it's obvious why. But Heavyarms is used far better in Wing. Wing made everything dynamic. Just the Gundams walking is framed to be amazing. X didn't have that. X's Gundams were boring. It goes to show that having the same ingredients won't make the same soup if a different cook is in the kitchen. I can't think of a standout moment from any Gundam aside from the X line.
