HUGS FOR THE HUG GOD!
Man, threads like these aren't lasting as long as they used to.
>Previous thread died at 11 posts
>>41361764I was asleep at the time, it can't be pinned on me.I'm more than happy to blame the one-and-done shitpost threads
>>41361764The board is still reeling from the wipe. That creates a lot of shitposts.
>>41361764I was asleep so it's all my fault.
I read "A Heart Longs For Another" by AnthonyC4.Literally could not take my eyes off of it at all. Took up 10 hours of a day off to literally just read it. I was so into it.Just for my heart to shatter into a billion pieces because the story gets left unfinished at the VERY HEIGHT of the climax that has been building up the entire time
>>41361896None of this would have happened without the board crash though. I guarantee you that the nuked thread absolutely would have reached the limit.
>>41361943
>>41361943I'm having deja vu with this post. I guess it happens to everyone who reads that green.
>>41362042It ends right as it's about to be revealed to Anon Luna is NMM. Like, literally 15 seconds before. It was so unsatisfying because Luna also abruptly leaves and then she's never seen again
>>41361943Maybe someday I'll get around to finishing it. Still don't have access to my original ponepaste.
>>41361943>moonfag storyYou wasted 10 hours, Anon.
>>41362242Call me whatever you want or call it cringe, cliche, etcBut the trope of Anon coming into Equestria and befriending a shunned Luna will always be good
>>41362234Sometimes I wonder if there would still be an audience if I finally sat down and finished my outline and got back to writing.
>>41361943>picWhat don't I mind?
>>41362234If it's actually you, I would 1000% read it. I need that ending and those scenes that were being led up!
>>41362308I haven't written green in a hot minute, but I have been working on an outline every now and again. Not promising anything, but I'll see if I can regain the motivation to write again.
>>41362251I'm still waiting for some 2017-2018 greens to be finished. I still care.
>>41362251We still care. Did you think that fucking greentext graveyard in the OP was there for decoration?
>>41362242I don't get this mindset. Luna is a fine mare.
Damn, the board is still really fast.
>>41363500Is the board fast or are we slow as fuck?
>>41363503considering there are a bunch of sub-10 post threads cluttering the board, it's both.
>>41363503It definitely got faster after The Scrub (TM).
Are you fit enough to toss your wife?
How do you guys ignore/deal with the constant shitposting and trolling about your wife? i've opted to ignore and report but that gets tiring at times when it changes nothing. Maybe I should just shitpost back, and burn the whole thread down until jannies decide to ban everyone when they finally wake up.
>>41363711considering my wife is Applejack I simply live with it knowing they're wrong and retarded, dismissing their ramblings as the mutterings of depraved madmen who do not know love.
>>41362435Considering the thread has less than 5 recognizable posters, yes it's for decoration - a reminder of a better time.
>>41363711Simple, I hide shitposting threads on sight.
>>41363751>less than 5 recognizable postersCan you name them?
>>41363751As usual it's just you and me and that third guy who posts a lot.
>>41364682And the guy who comments on the guy who posts a lot.

>>41366601>in the same way you would be nicer to someone who's mean but you know for a fact his little brother killed himself recently you shouldn't take someone seriously who doesn't understand your waifu the way you doworded that badlymeant to say when someone is trying to piss you off usually u just get pissed off but with the knowledge that the guy trying to piss you off is just trying to extract a tiny bit of joy by getting a reaction out of you because his life is a living nightmare would change the situation dramatically because now you aren't angry, you might even be sympatheticin that same way, a post made about your waifu based on wrong interpretations shouldn't make you feel bad because with a greater extent of knowledge about her it changes the dynamic from one of "this post makes me feel bad" to "no that's just flat out wrong because I know better than him on how she would act/this is how it would go/this is why she did X" and that sort of thing
>>41363711>see shitpost>roll eyes>move onSimple as. Calling the poster a fag if it's a dumb OP is an option too. Preferably with a sage.
>>41363711The most important lesson you can learn in your life is that the opinions of strangers do not matter. It's difficult to ignore if your mare is the target of significant shitposting, so you need to build up a resistance to other people's opinions. >>41381718I'd like to know the circumstances that demand we live in the middle of nowhere, but if I had to pick somewhere, I'd want to live on a crystal clear lake high in the mountains far to the north. Snowcapped mountains would ring us, and there would be an island in the center, heavily forested. To leave, one must go by boat or pegasi-pulled chariot, go over the ridge, and descend thousands of feet for miles over the rocky and root-gnarled slopes. The island would be sizable, enough to support a homestead, complete with hardy farm animals and green houses, a workshop where I could make all the necessary repairs and odds and ends my match asks of me, and a lovely cabin we had built together from what we could find. Life would be difficult until we found our routine, and I would need to learn a lot, but I can think of nothing more romantic than the simple pleasure of directly enjoying the fruits of my labor, and being able to share them with the one I love.>Verification not required.

>>41410795Then I don't think Cadence would bring you over to Equestria. Best case scenario, she'd throw the villain at your doorstep to get her out of the picture. Worst case, she'd dump both of you somewhere where no one will find you.
>>41411188I think it's the perfect plan to neutralize both of you in this case. Instead of bothering other ponies you turn on one another and eventually fall in love so you don't actually need anyone but each other to feed your ego.
>>41411316That could work. I still think she'd bring you to a backwater place to keep you away from important locations though.
>>41411188Cadence doesn't exactly do what's best for Equestria, she promotes love and family even if it means hooking up a villainous entity.
>>41411586>I know she's done awful, terrible things>but you know what'd sort her right out? A husband! Nothing gives a mare a bit of pep in her step like a loving husband.>And if she wants to keep him, she'll work at being a better mare herself, so it's a win-win! He gets a cute wife, she gets a stable husband, and Equestria doesn't have to worry about another kerfuffle with the time stream.
>>41411590Remember, each lonely young unicorn with maniacal tendencies matches is one less Equestria-level threat villain in the making.
>>41411586>doesn't exactly do what's best for Equestria>promotes love and familyThat's one of the best things for Equestria and the ponies in the long run though.
>>41361747Why would mares go for an anon when they have access to literal horsecock?
>>41412007Maybe some mares would like things a human can do with hands, rather than having their coltfriend do the same with hooves. In greens writers often say that ponies like being pet, scratched behind ears, mane kinda "brushed" by fingers of their soon-to-be husbando.
>>41412007we need to have a talk about human stamina

>>41428429This is way too tame for swt. She's a reanimated mare, not an eldritch abnormality from a different plane of existence.
>>41428748I mean, zombies/skeletons are definitely not "normal" mares. Kirins and seaponies (normal-sized, not big) would get a pass though since they (along with bats and changelings to some degree) are close enough.I could have sworn we had this discussion before at some point.
>>41428765Could be. I wager there is a vague grey area between just barely normal and already borderline strange.
>>41429183I think, honestly, the strangest thing we went with in here was flirting with the idea of a mare-shaped extension of the void between worlds that decided to see what the hubbub was about that was worth dragging men through her subspace from earth to equestria.

>>41429795Or that, yes.
>>41429253...thank you for reminding me that happened, anon. When was that?
>>41429986Christ, it's been a while but... over a year at least? Probably a couple. I honestly can't remember exactly. It was more of a spitballed concept that didn't actually turn into a story.
actually wait, I think someone did sort-of-kinda run with it a bit with a mare who had crippling confidence issues getting a little possessed by it and she ended up causing a ruckus on the human side of things by manifesting over there and trying to take him by force. Tied into the MRE (mate retrieval expeditions) idea and there was some kind of men-in-black deal trying to handle it and keep it from getting too out of hand.

>When you and your wife don't check the writing on the horsepital and enter the one run by bat ponies and their unusual medical practices
>>41431170Well, it gets "faster" in the sense you have more days to compare them to. When you're five, every day seems like it goes on forever because you don't have a lot of them. When you're forty, you can misplace half a week sometimes if the days are similar enough.
>>41431746>you can misplace half a weekAlready been there.t. 31
>>41431746In Equestria time will feel slower since everyone takes things easier than here.
>>41433112And daily life is much more memorable.

>>41451268It would be very embarrassing
>>41451653For whom?
>>41451869for both of you, depending on which panel you go to.
>>41450856No, the less Earth cringe she experiences the better.
>>41451953Mare fair is one of the better places on Earth for ponies though.
>>41452508Imagine your wife hearing that on Earth your kind made conventions about her kind.
>>41452508For mare lovers, not for mares. Just imagining explaining it to a mare makes me wince>"Well yes honey, these people are using pony imagery to shill their products and attentionwhore but it's okay because this is what's considered love in our world."Nah, the less they know the better.
>>41453035Is Mare Fair really so bad? I heard it was one of the more 'genuine' cons.
>>41453448As far as cons go I don't think it's that bad, but it's still a con. No idea if people have gay orgies there like other cons do but still. Anyway, I think the concept itself isn't something I'd boast about. In Equestria this sort of thing isn't really considered anything genuine, judging by the ponies who participate in "fandoms" of various popular personalities like princesses, but for us it's all we get. If there were "man fairs" in Equestria we'd probably consider it flattering.
>>41453555>we'd probably consider it flattering.checked but that would WILDLY depend on the content
>>41453858You're just afraid to find dakis or such of yourself, right?
>>41361943Damn this shit is fucked up
>>41454333I'd be both horrified and flattered to see a daki of myself because that would imply there was a demand for it
>>41454333More concerned about the slash fiction
>>41454664Eh, that one is easy to dodge. You don't have to read it.
>>41454942That still wouldn't work when most ponies recognize you as that guy from slashfics some Chuck Tingle-tier mare produces dozens a month.
>>41455071I think you overestimate that. It would be like meeting Pinkie Pie and thinking that she's the psycho killer from Cupcakes. Or that Rainbow Dash actually harvests ponies for essence. That's silly.
>>41455677That's true, but that's also because they're the main characters with lots of established characterization. But in the same fandom we have examples of fans dictating the characterization of background or supporting characters. In the show itself Derpy became who she is because it was collectively decided so by the fans. Nobody would argue about Lyra being into humans, it coexists with much later canon to this day. Other ponies have exhibited more human-like behavior than her but she was the first so it stuck. And then you have Coco who is an anal pony because a few people decided to force that and she's not popular enough for the fandom to reject that, so her only trait now is this fetish. So I think it's plausible that some pony might create specific fetish-oriented fanon around one specific human if she's passionate enough about it.
>>41455806>Coco who is an anal pony It's still a shitty forced meme that can't be taken seriously though.
>>41455806But anal Coco is epic thoughbeit
>>41456933I'm just saying how easy it actually is to force a meme onto a character if it's not important enough. Though imagine the mirror of Derpy's situation, where something ponies collectively imagine about (you) shapes your reality.>there is a human-centered comic series in Equestria popular among mares>it has a cast of a few important humans and a whole array of backgrounders and supports>one page of one issue has a background guy with no face drawn on him despite not being too small to warrant such lack of detail>it's obviously an oversight but the community decides to spin it as an actual thing>a mysterious stranger, a blank slate, a man with no name>the comic's maredom takes it into different places, from imagining him as the one directing everything from the shadows, to designating all low detail drawings as a variation of him>fanfiction and art follows>the authors notice how this has taken off and decide to give a nod to the fandom, portraying the man holding a plushie of a pony in one scene>the maredom unanimously agrees that this guy is into mares, or maybe he's from Equestria himself!>and so it becomes a canon thing, that this enigmatic everyman likes mares>be Anonymous on Earth>and for some reason you're really into cartoon mares

>>41482151165.3>The prediction about the length of the talk between Sky Squall and Firefly turns out to be accurate.>You sit in the hall for quite a while and have the time to play several practice games with #deca.mare whilst she introduces you to some of the most common chess moves and strategies.>And you for your part are fine with that.>Your game keeps you busy, it grabs your attention, and it is actually not as boring to learn as you might have thought.>Especially with #deca.mare as your teacher.>She has the ability to turn almost every subject into captivating learning material.>So you do not mind your current situation at all, and wait patiently for the two ponies to leave the quarters.>You wonder how well Firefly reacts to her newfound situation though.>After all, you have only seen the brief phase of her initial confusion, and a bit of her subsequent anger.>Both are immediate and natural reactions to a confession on this scale.>The time after the first shock, however, is a wholly different factor.>And even though you have no reason to expect any catastrophic consequences, you are nevertheless unable to put these thoughts aside.>"You are thinking about the two, are you not?">The voice of #deca.mare catches your drifting mind off guard."What?">She elaborates immediately.>"Your attention is slipping. And I do not need our link to see why.">A pause.>"Sky Squall. And Firefly. They are on your mind.">You look up from the game board and focus on the small automaton."They are. I hope everything is going well.">#deca.mare's voice remains calm and soft.>"There is no need to be worried. Firefly is sturdy. She will come to terms with the situation.">Then you hear her taking a breath over the comm channel.>"Besides, Sky will do his best to help her with it. She is in good hooves.">A second pause.>"I really have to thank him when they are done. For taking over so quickly, I mean.">You nod."Yeah, he could've made it a lot harder for me if he wanted to.">#deca.mare chuckles.>"But he did not. Another reason why you should not feel troubled. Sky Squall has regained his trust in us a long time ago and he supports our cause.">You can virtually feel the reassuring smile on #deca.mare's face as she goes on.>"Can you imagine a better recommendation than this?">You think for a second before you come to the foregone conclusion."For Firefly? No. And I get it, #deca. Really.">#deca.mare senses that there is more to it.>"But?">You take a breath."But I can't stop thinking about it anyway. You know how it is.">She does.>"I understand. And if it is any consolation to you, I share your sentiment, Anon.">You look at the camera directly again."So you haven't taken a look either, huh?"
>>41482162>The socketed camera attempts to emulate a shaking movement.>"I stopped right after your departure.">Of course.>Sky Squall agreed to let #deca.mare watch the reunion through his eyes to show her that you are fine.>With you out of the room, that point has become moot.>And whatever Sky Squall and Firefly are discussing now, it is a private matter between the two of them.>Your gaze returns to the board as you consider your next turn."Guess we can only remain patient then.">#deca.mare agrees indirectly.>"And stay optimistic.">You smile faintly and move your figurine.>So far, you have "won" two practice matches against #deca.mare, with her guiding instructions on occasion, and lost a third game in which #deca.mare ramped up the difficulty.>This time around, she lowered the difficulty again, but has not completely returned to the level of your two debut matches.>It looks like she is trying to find a perfect skill level which allows you to win, but still offers a certain challenge to you.>And you think that she is coming close to reaching this equilibrium.>For you believe that you can indeed win this match, if you remain careful and think sharply.>#deca.mare observes your actions with the help of the camera, and you do not need to see any bodily reaction to know that she is coming up with a proper response in a fraction of a second.>It is rather obvious that if she were to play "seriously", you would not stand a chance.>But despite the fact that her vast processing power gives her an unbeatable advantage, she does not act like it at all.>Instead of moving her piece immediately in order to pass the ball back to you, she waits for a couple of moments before she finishes her turn.>A decision which does two things at once.>It gives you brief mental respites between your turns, and it slows the pace of the game as a whole to more serene levels.>Plus, you can have a little bit of casual small talk as you play."And? How high do you rate my chances?">#deca.mare's response would certainly be more expressive with a visual reaction from her proxy, but you can nevertheless sense that she is grinning.>"Reasonably.">You tilt your head with a grin of your own."Oh, come on. That's all you have?">Of course there is more to it.>But #deca.mare wants to keep her assessment for herself.>At least as long as the match is still ongoing.>"It is all I can disclose without affecting the course of the game.">You think you understand what she alludes to.>If she were to tell you that you are close to winning, you might get overconfident.>On the flip side, informing you that you may have come close to bungling the match already would not be helpful either.>It would speed up the game as you could throw the round right then and there, sure, yet it would also make any further strategising absolutely pointless, drastically reducing the learning effect in the process.
>>41482166>Because if you are on the brink of losing, it would be much more beneficial for you to figure it out yourself.>So she decides to stick to her neutral and blank answer."Okay, fine. Let's find out.">You analyse #deca.mare's last turn and try to discover the motivation behind it, what patterns might follow, and asses whether this could also be a ruse or not.>It takes you a couple of seconds before you finally decide to act.>And a part of you quietly wonders how many games of chess #deca.mare could have played during these seconds.>You eye the small machine in front of you once you are done.>As expected, the unflinching metal surface of the unit is as rigid as always, yet the voice of #deca.mare is a little bit more informative.>"Smart move, Anon.">Well, this at least is a hint.>#deca.mare snickers, probably guessing that you are thinking like this.>"But do not feel too comfortable yet.">A rather clear hint as well.>Back to the neutral stance it is.>This back and forth goes on for quite a while until you finally find a way to reach a checkmate.>You do not dally and go for it at once, as #deca.mare could quickly seal the gap in her defence within a turn or two.>Seizing the opportunity, you beat #deca.mare within a few turns, thereby changing your score to a three to one lead.>And she is eager to congratulate you.>"Good match, Anon. You are getting better.">You smile and lean back."Thanks. Though I honestly wasn't sure how the match was going until the end.">#deca.mare chuckles.>"There were proverbial pitfalls, and you came close to falling for a few. But you still dodged them all in time.">You raise an eyebrow."Can't say I'm surprised. Where were the close calls?">You think you can hear #deca.mare inhaling over the comm channel.>"It would take too long to explain that here. But I can show you a detailed analysis of all four games in the simulation, if you wish.">You nod."Yeah. Sounds good.">You take a breath and briefly turn your head to the side corridor which leads to the quarters."Speaking of the simulation, any news about the two?">You think you can already predict her answer, and it does indeed align with your expectations.>"No, not yet.">They are truly taking their time.>Not that there is anything wrong with that in principle.>But after four games of chess in a row, you start to feel the onset of slight mental wear.>You stretch your arms."Any indication as to how far they are though?">Again, #deca.mare does not have any intel for you.>"No. I would have to know what they are discussing in detail to make any accurate predictions.">Which she obviously does not."Alright, fair.">You get an idea."We could ask Harmony though."
>>41482173>#deca.mare is audibly unsure as to what you have in mind.>"We could. But I fail to see how this suggestion is anything but prying with indirect means, Anon.">You shake your head."No, none of that. I don't want to hear any details of their discussions or something. I just want to know whether we have the time for a fifth game or not. Harmony can answer this without giving any details to either of us.">You take a breath."What do you say?">#deca.mare considers your idea and agrees.>"Very well. Give me a moment, please.">Said moment turns out to last one second.>"Harmony thinks we have the time for a fifth match, based on our average game speed.">You sigh with a light smirk."Man, I didn't know that Sky can be such a chatterbox. How untypical of him.">#deca.mare chuckles once more.>"Maybe when he is with you. But you are not the mare of his dreams, Anon.">You shrug, still grinning."True. And it's better this way. He's... not quite my type.">#deca.mare's chuckling fit turns into light-hearted laughter.>"So I heard. The wings are too intimidating, right?">You roll your eyes with a light smile."Yeah, that must be it. Right.">You pause for a moment and take another long breath."Okay. Round five. Do you increase the difficulty?">The automaton focuses on you.>"Do you want me to?">You nod."Just a pinch, maybe. Nothing too extreme.">The camera performs its quasi-nod once more.>"As you wish.">With that said, you arrange the figurines accordingly and play another match.>And just like the previous one, it is defined by a consistent notion of fickleness.>You find yourself in a position in which you believe to be performing more or less adequately, but the tipping point could always be only one or two missteps away.>So you stay attentive throughout the game and see where it goes.>But unlike the last time, you seem to have missed one of #deca.mare's pitfalls at some point in the game, as you suddenly find yourself trapped in a formation which pretty much forces your hand.>You realise this, predict that you will be drawn into a checkmate scenario within a few turns, and try to look for ways out of that situation.>However, you do not find any.>#deca.mare has sealed the trap tightly this time.>And you cannot really complain about it either.>She played a fair match which did not feel much harder than the last, and the trick which eventually got you was probably the small bump in difficulty that you asked for.>You take a long breath and play the game to its conclusion, changing the score to a three to two lead for you."Ah well, I didn't see that one coming. Not until it was too late, at least. Good game, #deca.">#deca.mare responds in a calm and even tone.>"Good game, Anon. You are making progress."
>>41482177>You smile faintly."Thanks. It wasn't enough to win this one though.">#deca.mare maintains her cheering demeanour.>"But you came close. And it still is a learning experience.">You shrug casually."Yeah. Can you add it to the recap list?">She does so at once.>"Sure, Anon. Consider it done.">You stretch your arms again."Thank you.">A brief pause."By the way, any forecast in regard to game number six?">She needs a second or so to answer, indicating that she is in contact with Harmony at the moment.>"As much as I would be willing to play another match, and to potentially even out the score, I think we will have to postpone that.">She takes a breath and confirms your assumption.>"Harmony just informed me that Sky Squall and Firefly are almost done.">#deca.mare is right.>This truly does take precedence."What's the outcome?">Her knowledge of the details is equally sparse as yours, but you believe that Harmony may have given her a few hints already.>She audibly clears her throat.>"I can only make assumptions, Anon.">So no hints then.>"But Harmony has not issued any warnings so far. This makes me think that things have gone well.">Reasonable enough."That's good to hear. I'm glad things are going a lot smoother this time.">#deca.mare sighs.>"You are not the only one. I... could still shudder when I think of his initial reaction. It was understandable, of course. A justified moment of anger. But it was also... unpleasant to experience.">You are tempted to agree with her, though you almost feel like you should point out that it was far more unpleasant for you than for her.>Then again, she must have worried herself into a state of nigh panic back then, considering that your health was physically threatened on that day.>Acutely so, even.>And since this is not a competition or anything like it, you simply nod.>It was a tough day for everyone, after all."My bones sure appreciate the more congenial treatment too.">#deca.mare almost chuckles at that.>And you bet that her proxy would have cracked the faintest of smiles now.>Before she can utter any further comment, however, something seems to happen, as #deca.mare falls suspiciously silent whilst you wait for a response."#deca? What's up?">Then you get an answer.>"They are coming out.">You blink."With, or without swinging hooves?">More of a joke than a serious question, but one can never know for sure.>"Without.">Good.>One more worry gone from the list.>And only a few seconds after #deca.mare's last response, you can hear it too.>The unmistakable sound of hooves stepping on metal sounds through the hall.>Fairly quiet at first, yet with an ever increasing volume.>They are, rather unsurprisingly, coming nearer.>You take a breath and keep your casual pose on the cushion whilst you pack up the game and wait for them to step out of the corridor.>And they do, shortly thereafter.>Sky Squall and Firefly walk side by side in almost perfect unison.
>>41482183>The two maintain their mutual trotting pace as if they had walked like this just yesterday.>It is a routine that is so thoroughly ingrained in their minds that they could do it in their sleep.>They would even be able to pull it off like this if they had been separated for decades.>In fact, if you were to scan their vitals, you would certainly detect that even their pulse and breathing would partially attune to the rate of the other.>At times, their two hearts quite literally beat as one.>It has always been a sight to behold when they strode through the streets and camps in the past.>And today is no exception, even though the image is somewhat skewed by the fact that Firefly is using the proxy of #deca.mare.>Either way though, they spot you and the automaton right away.>So they head directly for you without disrupting their mutual trot.>You briefly wave to the pair to greet them as they approach.>And you receive two nods in response, already telling you quite a bit in regard to what you can expect.>Because whilst Sky Squall acts as confident and straightforward as ever, the nod of Firefly is definitely more reserved than usual.>The mare does not appear to be visibly upset or confrontational, or intimidated for that matter, yet she makes it obvious to you that a part of her is still somewhat uncertain as to how she is supposed to judge you and your actions.>Which is definitely understandable after an experience of this magnitude.>With this first impression in mind, you decide to abstain from using any flowery phrases laced with courtliness in favour of a more direct, yet nevertheless friendly tone.>For Firefly will certainly appreciate an open and clear discussion more so than ever now.>Not to mention that she was never a great fan of overly honeyed words.>In public, at least.>You are certain that she is more open to this kind of thing in private with Sky Squall, and the snippets of their more intimate side that you could watch previously suggest that too. >But this angle does not really help you at all.>After all, you are not her husband, and your standing is at least chipped as far as the mare is concerned.>No matter how you put it, the direct and open approach is the best option in your eyes.>A notion which Firefly swiftly confirms as she addresses you.>"Hello again, Anon.">Her tone is emotionally somewhat distant, intentionally so, yet not outright hostile."Hello again to you too, Firefly.">She turns to the automaton.>"'Decanter'.">One of the grapplers does its best attempt of emulating a waving movement.>Firefly watches the act with an expression of perplexed fascination.>It is evidently alien to her to address the machine as #deca.mare.>Or Decanter in this case.
>>41482188>But considering that she has seen her fair share of Unicorn 'spells' over the years, simply calling it 'magic' for the time being should be enough for her to come to terms with the situation.>And you assume that this is exactly what Sky Squall did to explain the existence of this ship in the first place.>Because from the perspective of a pony who is only familiar with wooden and stone buildings, a veritable fortress of metal must have been created with enormous quantities of magical powers.>Similar to a certain city of crystal.>And this does not even cover the fact that said figurative fortress is floating in the firmament like a star.>Far beyond the heights that any Pegasus could reach.>You take a deep breath and use the moment to stand up before you come to the point."I figure Sky and you had a long talk about everything.">Firefly looks you in the eye and nods.>"In rough outlines.">You inhale loudly."And? What's your... verdict?">Firefly raises her voice as she stands right in front of you.>Steadfast.>She does not move, she does not twitch.>The mare does not even blink whilst she pierces you with her gaze.>At least it feels like her gaze is pinning you on the spot.>Still, you do not falter.>For you think that she is testing you and your reactions right now.>Just to see how you really behave, without any proxy bodies or other tricks.>So you simply stand there and force all notions of doubt or nervousness out of your mind.>And you seem to pass her likely test, as she goes on without any further remark.>"I'll help you. Provided you agree to some conditions.">Oh boy.>Where have you heard this one before?>You take a breath."Okay, name them.">Yet you hasten to add something before the mare can speak up."I'd appreciate it if you could leave my bones out of it though. My ribcage almost cracked the last time.">Firefly nods calmly, acknowledging your comment without showing any strong emotions.>"Yes, Sky told me about it. He said you have proven your integrity on that day.">The sceptical part of your mind is not entirely sure whether she is talking about the durability of your ribs or your decision to stick to your morals in the face of potential danger.>But your experience with her tends to lend credence to the more idealistic option of the two.>And Firefly has the grace to confirm at least that assessment right away.>"I don't want anything like that though.">You faintly exhale in relief and hope that the mare did not spot that reflex."Thank you. Please go ahead.">Which she does.>"The first shouldn't be new to you. I want your stories. The real ones, of course. In full.">You nod."No problem. They're yours. But be warned. Some parts of the distant past are...">She chimes in before you can complete the sentence.>"... less agreeable. I know."
>>41482193>Alright, the golden stallion has indeed covered a lot of the basics.>The better and the worse ones alike, apparently.>She goes on.>"But I can't skip these. On the contrary, I must know what I am dealing with. And whom. I need the full picture for that.">Perhaps slightly blunt in its wording, but a reasonable request.>After all, you have flipped her entire worldview in a moment as if it were nothing, and also revealed to her that you kept a lot of secrets for decades.>Her wish for the complete and unfiltered truth is only a natural reaction to that.>And she is right.>You have indeed seen that demand coming in advance.>But the previous concerns that you had in regard to Sky Squall's mental wellbeing apply to her now.>Of course, he handled everything well in the long run, and Firefly is just as resilient as him.>She should be able to bear it too.>No matter how often you tell yourself that, however, a certain inner queasiness still remains.>Again, you shove that thought aside to focus on the here and now."Alright. You get everything you want. The second condition?">Firefly blinks.>"Simple. You owe me a tussle.">You do not answer immediately, as your brain needs a few seconds to fully process her comment."A... tussle?">The mare nods and adds a little catch before you can get any ideas.>"Exactly. Right here.">Not good.>You clear your throat."Why here though? We have more options in the simu...">She interrupts your sentence once she understands what you are trying to do.>"No, not in the simulation. That would defeat the purpose.">#deca.mare chimes in.>"Firefly...">But she does not get her opportunity to speak out.>"No, Decanter. It is as I said, I must understand who you are before I can help you.">You try to appear as calm as possible, despite the fact that you do not like what you are hearing.>Not at all."I get that, Firefly. What I don't understand is why you need a bout to comprehend me when you can have my entire biography with a mere thought.">The mare shakes her head.>"Even when everything you have recorded is true, and I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on that, scrolls can only tell so much. Some things can only be learned through first hoof experience.">Well, screens and data files rather than scrolls, but that is not the point.>She goes on.>"Besides, I prefer to trust my senses. Now that they are truly... unhampered for the first time.">Fair enough, especially under these circumstances.>Still, her proposal awakes some inconvenient memories.>Which is another thing that confuses you."Okay, but it contradicts what you said earlier though. You didn't want to go there. Those were your words.">Firefly takes a breath.>"And I stand by what I said, Anon. You misunderstood me.">A pause.>"This isn't about force or physical threats. It's about you. How you think and act."
>>41482204>You blink."You want to test my character... in a tussle.">Firefly nods.>"Right. It's direct and honest. And no one gets hurt if you know what you're doing.">She takes a breath.>"You have never been a true Pegasus, but I hope you've at least spent enough time with us to learn that.">Her argument actually has some validity from the Pegasus' point of view.>Pegasi do indeed form a certain camaraderie and familiarity through their mutual friendly contests with one another.>And they also get an impression of how their companions might act under certain conditions.>Which can become important in serious situations, as it is always beneficial to know what the others think and what they are capable of when it really counts.>It is of course no sure-fire method to predict the actions of every pony in every single situation, as miscalculations can still happen.>But it is a solid general indicator, more often than not.>Your case, however, is a little bit different.>Physiologically, at least.>You inhale."Yeah, I did. But...">The mare is not pleased to hear this word right now.>"But what?">You clear your throat."Nothing against you, Firefly, but I think in this case you don't know what you're doing.">She shakes her head yet again.>"You're more vulnerable than ponies. I'm aware, if that's what you're worried about.">You do not hear any notion of irreverence in her voice as she says that.>Unless you are completely mistaken, it is simply a matter of fact as far as she is concerned.>Yet you still do not like the idea of facing her in a show tussle.>And you are, rather obviously, not the only one to think so.>#deca.mare chimes in.>"I do not like your proposal, Firefly. Even if it is not your intention, you are putting Anon at risk. Needlessly so.">Firefly remains unimpressed.>"Hardly. What Sky has done was much more dangerous than this, if I understood it correctly.">Something whirs inside the little automaton.>You have no idea what it is, but if you had to describe the tone in words, you would say that it sounds irate.>Somehow.>"Maybe. But it is a poor justification.">Firefly turns to Sky Squall.>"You're right. She is overprotective.">The mare faces the small machine once more.>"Decanter, you asked me to trust you. And I consider it. But this doesn't work if you can't trust me too.">Then she turns to you.>"Both of you. If you're too afraid of that, then everything you've done in Equestria, all those 'great exemplary moments', were not just a staged performance. They were a farce.">You could argue that you and your ribs have proven the opposite under Sky Squall's not quite so tender care, but Firefly has a point.>Trust has to go both ways.>And Firefly is asking for very little in comparison.>You look at the automaton, then at Sky Squall, and lastly at Firefly before you raise your voice."Okay. If that's what it takes to convince you, I'll do it."

A couple years ago, I started writing a green I'd been meaning to write for a long time. Despite being positively received, it didn't have quite have the tense enemies-to-lovers dynamic I envisioned. So I decided to scrap it and start over (pic related being my last post before disappearing). It took two years of tinkering with the project, repeatedly abandoning and returning to it, before I settled on something I'm satisfied with. I have several chapters written, and I plan on getting a couple more done before starting to dole them out. This is just me telling you I'm back, and to expect new green in the next thread. The outline I have planned is a very slow burn, so if you're someone who needs to jump into the romance right away, it'll probably be too frustrating.
