I do think the artist went a little too big here, I've noticed there's been a drift towards larger sizes since I've started commissioning him, and I'm going to ask him to go smaller next time. There's some perspective meant to make her look bigger in the second and third panels, too. Still, if you make ponies stubby, I think it works. If you look at how big this real pony is, but make her stubbier and cram twins in her instead, it definitely works out; regardless, Twilight Sparkle is a unicorn whose anatomy is very different from this real pony when you start comparing just about any aspect of it.Ultimately, it depends on what you want to do. There's drift in anatomical sizes for every aspect of ponies, and since they're cartoons there's not strictly a right answer. I also like Twilight Sparkle to be a little chubby anyway, since she's a sedentary little nerd.
