Had to delete the original post because I had a stroke while writing the title.ITT, we discuss what equine-human relations would have looked like between the early modern colonial empires and the Diarchy Equestria.
I would say that, of course, the transfer of ideas, crops, culture, religions, etc. would be inevitable, but I would say that Equestria has a much better chance at fighting off the Europeans compared to the Native Americans. For one, since Equestrians are equines, they won’t have to deal with mass epidemics caused by smallpox and other illnesses since viruses crossing the species barrier is rather difficult without constant contact. Even if that were to happen, Equestria does have some form of medical infrastructure, so infected ponies can have a fighting chance. The natural abilities of the ponies, including magic and flight, would offset the European technological advantage in gunpowder weapons. And unlike the Aztecs or the Mayans, Equestria is far more unified and would band together should the Europeans decide to do what they did to the Native Americans in our timeline. Equestria also possesses professional standing armies, including that of the Equestrian Guard and the Wonderbolts, although I imagine in a time of war, most combatants would be paramilitary in nature. The most interesting part in my opinion would be that of the exchange of religions. While we aren’t too sure of Equestria’s religious beliefs, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that some worship(ed) the princesses as Goddesses, infallible and all powerful. This, along with the “witchcraft” of the local ponies, including the manipulation of weather patterns, levitation magic, etc. would probably rustle some feathers of the Catholic Christians who wouldn’t take too kindly to the blasphemous pagans of this realm. At the same time, would there not also be settlers who would work with the ponies, better understand them and their magic and maybe even trade with them? And of course, most importantly would the mares fuck human men?

>>42792667>it wouldn't be a stretch to think that some worship(ed) the princesses as Goddesses, infallible and all powerful. It would be a stretch given all we've actually seen in the show. The nobility interact with the princesses much the same as typical nobility would with any other royalty, and Celestia in particular makes a concerted effort to be humble and not let herself be removed from the common pony, especially after her sister fell into her shadow. It isn't impossible that some ponies would try to worship her and/or her sister regardless, but she'd doubtlessly make every effort to discourage it short of directly forbidding it.It's honestly an interesting parallel to Christianity's own teachings of humility and warnings against the pride of kings.
>>42794742Good point.
>>42792665Considering that they defeated a reality-warping nightmare and had mages powerful enough to be spoken of reverently over a thousand years later, I think confronting age-of-sail humanity wouldn't even be a two-parter.
>>42795257It's more about how they'd be handled.
>>42792665The pegasi whip up a storm and the classic Armada/fleet pastime of getting dicked down by a storm occurs. Perhaps some merchants or peasants get escape to Equestria and kill each other every once and a while. Basically, humanity is seen like Griffonstone on a good day and the Dragon Lands on a bad day. Equestria is actually technologically advanced in comparison.
bump
They would totally smack those ponies
>>42792665>European contact with ponies>Christianization of the Equestrian continent>Recognition of ponies being human-esque by Pope>normalization of Human-Equine relationships>Immigration of ponies to Western Europe>Restoration of the Roman Empire>???>Profit.
