You don't need a pickguard. Or a pick really.
You don't need fresh strings.
You don't need a tuner.
You don't need 10 pedals.
You most definitely don't need an amp modeler/profiler.
>>
>>124598000
No. Your palm is gonna do more damage to the paint than a pick ever will.
>>
>>124598046

You don't always need contact cleaner. Scratchy pots usually develop because the knob's been left in one position for a long time without moving, just turn the pot backwards and forwards through its full travel a few dozen times. If that doesn't fix it then you need to spray into the pot in the gap above the solder tags. And don't buy cheap shitty contact cleaner, get Deoxit or don't bother.

Playing at an open mic night tonight, first time I've ever got on stage and I'm bricking it. It's just a blues jam thing. I've been playing for years and I'm reasonably good but never played with other musicians before.

Advice?
>>
>>124601823
I go to blues jams weekly. Best advice is to not overplay unless it's a solo. Mind your volume and watch the band leader for cues. Other than that focus on phrasing add space in your solos and don't play over other musicians

What kind of guitar battle? Mindless shredding back and forth like it's a movie? Pointless.
>Froosh isn't even the creative force in the band. Corgan is a real star and a real guitar hero
Frusciante is the creative force in the band. Without him, they noticeably take a nosedive in quality of their output. All of their biggest songs and best albums are with Frusciante.
Frusciante is the beacon of inspiration and creativity in the band. Without him, they are lost.
Frusciante is far more of a guitar hero than Corgan. RHCP's streams and sales dwarf Smashing Pumpkins and more people have picked up guitar because of Frusciante than Corgan. I always see people list Frusciante amongst their favorite guitarists, but Corgan not nearly as much.

Alice in Chains weren't grunge. Stuff like Mudhoney is grunge. AiC were a hard rock / metal band, and they were the best band to come out of Seattle at the time. There isn't a better band from Seattle of that era than AiC. None of them ever made a Dirt or Jar of Flies. AiC's Unplugged is the best. They have the best songs.

Buy something second hand, ideally with a humbucker - single coil - humbucker layout and no tremelo. (Ibanez make great guitars and they are common second hand. Look for ones with a five piece neck, you can tell by the two darker stripes down the length of the neck on the back.)

This should set you up for playing pretty much any genre of guitar music, IMO.

The real guitar redpill:

Any guy willing to spend 3k on american guitar mogs any anon with a cheap import guitar.

If youre capable but unwilling to buy better you dont take music seriously enough. If youre too poor, youre probably a 3rd world sub human and thus too stupid to play good music. If you have some notion that non american instruments can compete, youre either not white (i.e., sub human ape) or a libtard (i.e. retarded and incapable of music)

Do not expect to brag about your shitplank out side your reddit hugbox and not be taken to task for it. You will be mo/gg/ed. Ev'rytime

I haven't bought an electric guitar in over a decade. And merely replaced an acoustic with another. I'm happy with what I have. I don't buy a bunch of shit. I invest and get quality over quantity. You can do it too instead of getting mad at me.
>>
>>124608522
The bleed cap is across the top half of the volume pot. The top leg and wiper lugs are joined at full volume taking the bleeder out of circuit.
There's a long thread on guitar nuts about TB circuits and trying to maintain the same tone across all volumes. They agree the bleed is defeated at full. If you installed yours incorrectly, it could be a high pass filter. So look at that schematic vs the thread schematics.

Throwing money away is a poor people trait actually. Also a prevalent trait among the African-Americans.

What you don't understand is me buying a new guitar is equivalent to you buying those chips at the gas station. For you it's something you'll have to save for months, or even years.
>>
>>124608886
If you care about creating music, then don't let the instrument itself be the weak link. Only you yourself should be your limit. Sure, you can go for years using bad tools. I did. But once you get your hands on something good, you realize you how much you're missing. You're no longer fighting the instrument, and you think of ways of making it possible to own something like that.
If what you have already works, fine. If not, be honest about it.

surely that justifies the player series to cost 800 dollars when you could get a real MIA for 1200

That's not what I'm talking about. That's basic bluegrass/folk playing. I'm talking about riffing and mixing lead in seamlessly. To do what you're doing all you need is a picking pattern
>>
>>124612819
you sound good, friend. you are good enough to start a band or join a band. you should focus your attention on 3nps and playing melodies instead of rhythm (cuck) guitar. and you should also play with no distortion. that's how you will actually be good.
>>
>>124612868
That is impressive but would sound better in the context of a track. It sounds mindless. I could do the same thing with blues lead and it would sound ass without context. >>124612868

>85% of my listening is metal
playing with distortion makes it easier. you get compression (all the notes sound similar volume)
if you start playing tunes clean you will notice that maybe you're a little sloppy or inconsistent.
if you can play something clean expertly, you're good. then you put the distortion on and you're god
metal is cool kid. if you've only played for half a year according to your vocaroos you have talent. don't waste it
that's what i'm saying
>>
>>124604063
Chili peppers suck ass if the vital flaws to everything you typed. I bet you're into the food fighters, too.
>>
>>124613108
do both.
You have to learn to tame the distortion as well.
>>
>>124613108
>playing with distortion makes it easier. you get compression
But for metal rhythm isn't it more useful to make sure to control string noise, palm mute the right amount, etc. For leads I think I see your point though. I do want to learn more than just metal, I'd like to learn some classical and folk styles as well.
>if you've only played for half a year according to your vocaroos you have talent. don't waste it
Well it's probably more like 8 months actually but for a few stretches I haven't practiced much. I've been playing drums for a while though, I'm okay at that I guess. I can get through all of Holy Wars fairly clean.
>>
>>124613136
true. ii started on steel string acoustic though and every kid i know that was lucky enough to get an electric first sounds like shit clean. you have to know how to let the instrument sing.
>>
>>124613208

>>
>>124613232

You hold it like normal. I recommend using a yellow tortex whatever thickness that is. You can either down pick or alternate pick. Fast down picking is hard. But playing slower, down picking is probably easier at least at first. Most or all the movement should be in your wrist.

You are gonna have to just spend a lot of time doing it and feel it out though its just a little too hard explain

Bass seems like an instrument that actually sounds better with finger picking. Kinda like jazz sounds more full warm using your fingers vs pelcrum

I think fingerstyle sounds good but my favorite bass sound is a pick hitting fresh round wounds

The clank is really satisfying to me

>Carol of the Bells

All sound good; most are iconic in popular music.

i wouldn't get it. 30 watts is a stage volume amp and it would be incredibly embarrassing to have a Stage Right amp. you will never make it with something like that. get a peavey classic 30 combo. that's respectable and you can find them used for cheaper than that abomination
