Do people seriously like this album? I mean its not terrible but people claim hes a genius and its innovative and people just dont get it cuz its different.

I think it's good. I have never considered Kevin Parker a genius.
>>
>>128285545
It's the biggest trainwreckord of the year
>>
>>128285545
I can understand why some people enjoy it, but I do not. It is a boring album to me.

Look at the comments of this article lol delusional

>Dylan goes electric, his fans revolt. Radiohead ditches guitars, the band's fans revolt. Parker gets dance-y, his fans revolt. "Deadbeat" is no "Kid A," but the backlash, to me, speaks more to the inability of most people to appreciate artistic innovation than the merit of the work.

I was at Tuesdays show and I thought it was amazing. The songs and the light show were fantastic. I felt vibes of Pink Floyd at times. The crowd, consisting of all ages, loved him. The energy from the fans was palpable. I'm 56 and have been to many different concerts with many different types of music. The stage design complimented his music perfectly. And the light show along with it was perfect! He is "real" which pulls the fans in. You feel that you could hang out with him, that he is just like you & me.

Kevin Parker is a genius and we are lucky to have his work in any capacity.

Shallow and empty headed just like the people who like it

I’ve seen someone doing this better before. Toro Y Moi changed his genre and style on Anything In Return because he wanted to make an album for his girlfriend. The type of dance music Tame Impala chose is just very generic that’s all.

>the new album from Toro Y Moi is summarised as follows: “this record was just me having fun – making music that my girlfriend would dance to or something

True, Most people prefer their favorite artists to keep doing the same thing ad infinitum, hence the likes of AC/DC and Rolling Stones keep having filled stadiums

>>128285545
And they would be correct, people would be loving Kevin Parker if he kept making Currents, or plagiarising 70's aesthetics like on "Elephant" or "Feels like we're only go
backwards".

No taht woudl be Taylor Swift. The sales of her albuma lready dropping liek mad compared to previosu albums. No big radio single.
She's fucking done for.

He didn't innovate anything, though. We already had dance-y Tame Impala with The Slow Rush, it was fine. We didn't need a followup, especially one this clunky and directionless. The genres he tries on here, he doesn't really succeed at. It's not offensively bad, just not good, either.

Kevin Parker got married and had a kid not too long ago. So, this just cement the idea that dance music is for chicks, and rock music is for guys.
>>
>>128287857
It's much better than the Slow Rush.
>>

Hardly, not a single track is that memorable in comparison. Deadbeat is also his least psychedelic album so far, and that's why it sucks.
>>
>>128287973
I disagree.
>>
>>128287978
Memorable as in you want to return and listen to them. The album deserved one play through and that's all it's gonna get, that's how bad it is. Especially that really long piece he did, can't remember a single bar or anything from it. And yeah, apart from the spacey vocals, there's nothing on here that is screaming psychedelia. Although House music has always been drug oriented in a way, this one is just so lukewarm in terms of presentation.
>>
>>128288020
I found many melodies immediately memorable amd have revisisted it multiple times.
>>
I bet he could make a great comeback if he developed a serious drug habit
>>
>>128288055
Highly doubtful, but sorry for your brain cells if you have.
>>
Imagine getting this triggered because someone dared to like an album you don't.
>>
Even that shitty King Gizzard electronic album mogs it lmao
>>
>>128288380
Imagine not knowing what bad music sounds like.
>>
>>128285545
The coachella dance slop actually grew on me ngl BUT theres still only 3 good tracks.
