Is it time to admit they were the most damaging thing to happen to modern music?
>>
Based and kino millennium ironic pseud shit
>>
>>128454146
No, that's Arcade Fire
>>
>>128454146
It wasn't that influential
But it must have spawned the shortest lived genre in modern music
>>
>>128454788
this lol. nobody goes back to any of those albums. just another forgotten hype bubble.
>>
>>128454146
They actually pretty much saved underground EDM. The most damaging thing to happen to music has always been soulless corporate pop.

>>128454335
Also this.
>>
>>128454146
Explain how
>>
>>128454824
isn't the entire point of PC music to make soulless corporate pop though? Just because they're doing it ironically doesn't make it better
>>
>>128454867
no
>>
>>128454867
Not at all lol... they were wildly experimental and only used the soulless corporate pop aesthetic a la Hannah Diamond for postmodern commentary. Also, if you listen to the music (specially SOPHIE), you'll see that it was full of novel ideas and innovation in production. Hyperpop wouldn't have existed without AG Cook's and Sophie's ideas, and Charli XCX wouldn't have released brat without PC Music's input. I was there since almost day one, so I can tell you that PC Music was actually a great scene with lots of cool artists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2haRSNr08M
>>
>>128454146
Feels like it was the last "new" thing whether you enjoyed it or not
>>
>>128454867
No it was supposed to reinvent pop for the digital age and the ADHD-ridden brain, with all sorts of randum bleeps and blops
>>
>>128454916
>Brat
>Not soulless corporate pop
>>
>>128454964
2deep4u
>>
>>128454964
Who implied that? brat is not even a part of the PC Music scene, just influenced by it.
>>
>>128454964
brat is years after pc music was a thing. listen to vroom vroom.
>>
>>128455029
Pc music is why hyper pop exists
>>
>>128455045
hyper pop is also years past its relevancy and has nothing to do with brat.
>>
>>128455061
Brat is hyper pop. Hyper pop is still relevant. It’s not a singular sound. Grimes most recent single is hyper pop adjacent

>>128455029

how is this not soulless corporate pop too?

Bro, wtf?
>>
>>128455135
>trusting rym on genres
that being said, brat isnt hyperpop
>>
>hyper pop must have pitchshifted voices
>>
>>128455155
>trusting rym on genres
They're right 95% of the time unironically.
t. regular genre voter.
>>
>>128455195
5% is too high of a chance
>>
>>128455107
brat is not hyperpop.
>>
>>128455308
Suck my hyper dick
>>
>>128455317
how is it hyperpop?
>>
>>128454964
>>128455125
no lol. most zoomers would think you're weird as fuck for listening to that without the hype around her from 2024 tiktok. its too experimental for them even though it really isnt.
they like basic shit like taylor swift ed sheeran imagine dragons etc.
>>
>>128458161
Broheim. Non-npc Zoomers do not like that shit. They actually have good taste in pop.

>t. Millennial who knows
>>
>>128454970
A.G. Cook produced the entire brat album, so it wasnt inspired, it was literally pc music production.
>>
>>128458523
sure but pc music as a genre term is different from the label.
>>
>>128458523
AG Cook is not PC Music, lol... That would be like saying Michael Jackson was Epic Records
>>
>>128458627
>AG Cook is not PC Music
literally the face of PC Music along with SOPHIE. Where would PC Music be today without AG?
>>
>>128458190
im a zoomer though thats why im saying that. everyone in my high school and college would just listen to the most basic pop and hip hop imaginable except for the alt punk kids.
>>
>>128459070
well, you're just describing normies. It's the same shit with Millennials. I don't count them as actual people.
>>
>>128458161
>experimental
how
>>
>>128458662
Being the face of PC Music (fake, btw, that was SOPHIE), don't mean being PC Music.

>>128460470
Super accesible, bro... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uERIXLWeik0
>>
>>128460584
i'm talking about Charli XCX anon
>>
>>128460584
>Being the face of PC Music ... don't mean being PC Music.
that makes no sense retard
>>
>>128454867
I mean, a lot of it is better-produced than normal corporate pop. You can argue they didn't do much to help the state of things but I think if anything they made a marginal improvement in that regard rather than making the situation worse given the bar's on the floor.
>>
>>128454916
The "postmodern commentary" was always the most half-baked thing about them. It's so easily reincorporated by the machine it's an immediately recursive tailspin, more of a point-instance than a commentary. 'Art under late stage capitalism gives us mixes feelings; but fuck it we're gonna enjoy it anyway in the end because fun is fun'. Okay, now what? There's nowhere for it to go past the initial premise.

And my point isn't reliant on it, I know it'll make some people here pissy to bring it up, but funny how this just happens to help keep any real-life stuff out of it exactly like the actually corporate pop machine they're supposedly observing and commenting on as opposed to literally just being it (N.B the amount of zio money tied up in London arts stuff, A.G.'s Israeli connection and lack of the scene taking part in any comment toward the Palestine shit - relevant because of London/UK's part in pushing the violence; and other artists like Liz and GFOTY in the same scene also being racist etc. - here's your metacommentary by people who definitely aren't literally just the establishment, hmm). Not talking from a partisan perspective but a purely humanistic one.

I guess my point is for all its intellectual posturing it's all just an excuse to further perpetuate the same ugly culture under the guise of being arty. Some of the music is genuinely good and the newest-sounding thing we've heard to date imo though, so I won't be a little bitch about that and deny reality.
>>
>>128461229
It makes sense if you're above 10 IQ
>>
>>128462733
gfoty is racist?
>>
>>128463654
It's why she was pushed out of the label/to the fringes of the scene iirc
>>
I just wish they'd release all SOPHIE's WIPs in lossless instead of them only ever leaking in shitty mp3, why denigrate the music like that? Desperately want to hear Instruction/Structure on my hifi.

https://pitchfork.com/news/59874-producer-lotic-and-pc-music-slam-racist-comments-made-by-pc-musics-gfoty/
she might have been pro- the Israeli genocide too according to some people but I haven't seen evidence of that
>>
>>128464007
oh and after this she made some shady tweets implying the label were pushing her out
>>
>>128454146
They didn’t invent anything new. Sounds like normal british club music from 2000s.
>>
>>128464044
Nah it's like an exaggerated version of it
>>
>>128464141
Exaggeratedly normal?
