Dungeon Synth December - Lost Euro Tales Edition /nbbmn/ fugitives welcome!
First of the year for Mortiis.
posting favourites to get things going
>>128651026Reminds me of Redwall.
>>128651157yeah it is propably redwall inspired. there is a whole sub category of dungeon synth called redwall synth. I dont know if they were the first but Mäuseprinz certainly the first I knew of so I dont know for sure if it was created with redwall in mind
The Swedish DS community seems to be pretty tight knit, eh Fåntratt?
i fvcking love dvngeon synth decemberich liebe evch alle Dvngeonbrveder avch
We need to get a calendar going here gentlemen.>2024
>>128651719>2022
>>128651719>>128651733how were the calendar doors typically chosen?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bcD5_vaXAY>>128651812Typically by nominations from the thread. With a mix of 90s releases earlier in the month, moving up to newer modern stuff towards the end.
any recs for vinyls that I can buy that have black and white album art?
>>128651719>>128651812Here's a suggestion I made for this year. No real thought behind what's in each door except that I wanted it to have a mix of classics, obscure gems and modern releases.
>>128655206Fåntratt is a fun name.
>>128655246It's one of the best ones imo, since the majority of the community still probably don't know what it means. Also great fun music, especially this wintery one https://youtu.be/042TRCqbhuY
>>128655253I'll put it on my list. The only dungeon synth I have listened to is Burzum.
>DSBM cover>look inside>dungeon synth
This stuff it soo good, holy shithttps://youtu.be/jyxI6powh9w?list=PLqbNLZv8slPL7VOcZ8psWLzVIEt1Djv-P
>>128655246>>128655253what about the name?
I'm not feeling the DS spirit this year.
>>128656569It basically means someone who’s being silly, goofy, or acting like a bit of an idiot, but in a light-hearted way. It’s like calling someone a goofball. A literal translation would be:fån = fool / silly persontratt = funnel>>128656580how come?
>>128656650thanks anon :)
>>128656650>how come?I kinda burnt out on the genre, there's nothing new. I listen to new Fief, Serepent's Isle, and Hillsfar, and that's p much it in terms of new releases. And come to think of it I haven't even checked out the last 2-3 SI releases.
>>128656650>>128656749feel the Christmas dungeon cheer approaching!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuLkiItgcbk
>>128656767I put it in my Watch Later.
I love Serpent's Isle but unfortunately I just can't find all of his albums on 320 so some of them are just 128kbps rips from Bandcamp. I'm not paying $4USD for like 10-15 mins of music per. I actually did buy all of his original albums but then at some point he wiped all the releases he had at the time from his Bandcamp page and I ended up having to email Out of Season and they gave me a free dl, but fuck paying for any of the new ones.
>>128656749SI releases? I almost never listen to new DS, it's very hard for me to actually feel something when listening to modern artists. However, I keep finding "new" old gems that I haven't heard before, and that's what keeps it interesting for me
Started a calendar for anons to nominate!number one is >>128655838 because i really liked it and am listening to it right now while making the calendar. all genres and eras allowed, obscure stuff prefered, dubs or free dates as last two digits get added. I wont listen to the additions i dont know so i have something to discover over the month. lets get this going
>>128650891Hi Neema.
>>128656927Serpent's Isle.I listened to that lil Christmas EP too. I quite liked it. Now I've got >>128655838 queued up after Camel.
>>128656956not them but hi
>>128650945>>128651883>>128655206 decided to honor your soul and dedication induced posts with additions to the Calendar so we have the next days covered at least
>>128657239This one is going to look beautiful!
>>128657278thank you! any addition you'd like to see?
>>128651883>fardAlso, shid.
>>128657294Starting Dec off with this.
>>128656948get some weird shit in therehttps://inattentiveapprentice.bandcamp.com/album/why-must-wizardry-be-so-complicated
>>128657574>>128657579 5 and 6 added. Thank you for your contribution
>>128657449thank you, anon. I was waiting for the yearly ">fard" jokegreat release btw
Since /dsd/ threads are so comfy i decided to just go by the order they are suggested. looking for 7 and 8 right now. 5 and 6 were more modern so maybe more newer stuff for the next slots?
>>128657239>>128657294May we please have the forbidden Caduceus demo on there?
>>128657806where can one listen to this?
>>128657803best release last year
>>128657239only release I listened to from 25... got lucky and it's actually decenthttps://potionsofeleanor.bandcamp.com/album/eleanor-my-beloved
>>128658007just a shame that he keeps using AI artwork for every single release on that new label
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpBs_VkXWXoAtlantean Sword just released a new one, holy shit
>>128657449Nothing brings in DSD liking farding and shidding
>>128658190>Conan, what is best in life?>fuckin' fardin' and shiddin'>*crowd cheers*
>>128658128>>128658128all these are AI artworks?? damn
>>128658629Bandcamp-core dungeon synth was a mistake. If it’s not a 90s cassette it’s not trve.
>>128658629absolutely, yes. If you've meddled around a bit with Midjourney, or simply seen enough images like these, it's quite simple to tell. Also, the owner of the label has been asked a hundred times by different people if and why he uses AI artwork, but he has never replied to any of it, and does not give credit to any artist on each album artwork except for himself. Do you think he painted all of those images? nah
so far so good. removed the one with ai art sorry
>>128660166Inattentive Apprentice has such a good aesthetic for being comfy and melodic, but instead it's just crappy noise. What a let down.
>>128660166Very nice! I love how how the dates progress into the tower.Another rec.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYxayg12reU
>>128660710Decent rec, thanks!
>>128659124>Also, the owner of the label has been asked a hundred times by different people if and why he uses AI artwork, but he has never replied to any of it, and does not give credit to any artist on each album artwork except for himself.where have those questions been asked? can I confirm this somehow? the Artist Simon Heath does have an Artstation page where his art looks ok to me and he names some tools and a "digital workflow"
>tfw I'm no longer a neet and can't bump these threads anymoreGood luck bros. I'll be listening along and keeping these threads alive in my soul.
Thanks to all the anons who contribvted so far! may the lazy anons rot in the forgotten bog
>>128662073This year's Fimnur was good and is worth including imo:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JAtGUuBzeA&t=393s
Hitting a classic:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2lPcW1EOY8&list=RDA2lPcW1EOY8&start_radio=1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRIYdSL6ICg Kicking off the month with one of the most Christmas inspired albums I have in my library. Based on the Letters From Father Christmas from Tolkien.I mean, all of Frostgard's stuff is Tolkien-inspired, but this one feels especially Christmas/winter-y.
>>128663558Forgot to say I got this on the 1st vinyl run when Weregnome posted about it. My vinyl collection is very small since I only started collecting last year around this time, but it's a nice first addition for a DS section of my library.
>>128663558Iskall has some good winter albums.
>>128663707Thanks for the rec, will check it out!
Getting back into the genre after not checking much out the last few years, my memory of the different subgenres has escaped me a bit. Any artists that sound like this? https://youtu.be/mgC2X7fOz28?si=74jdiCV1V0vWxctD
>>128664185You might like Fogweaver
Any Wojnar-bros this year?
Can we post darkwave in here
