Chopping samples isn't the same as making beats really. I view it more like, a sort of remixing. Making beats means loading samples of instruments up in the MPC or using a drum machine, and creating your beats from scratch.I guess these days the kids are all using clip launchers or some shit though.

It comes from the heart as does any other passion. It's a form of expression. Anyone that makes beats is expressing themselves through the beat, even if it's just a little bit. It's an art form. It's the same as making a painting. Yeah anyone can grab a brush and paint, but not anyone can create a beautiful portrait. And just like with anything else not every good beat maker gets recognized or the recognition they deserve. There's really dope producers out there who've never been discovered and not every one who makes it is truly talented. It all depends on where you are and who you know and who dedicated and committed you are. A lot of people do it just for a hobby, just because it makes them feel good. Kanye did a lot of work with Jay-Z and Roc-a-fella plus when his mom died he started saying and doing outlandish, shocking things an I think that's where much if his lore comes from.
