>create some of the best edm/french house music
>go all in with robot disguises
>take a big hiatus doing fuck all except making the forgetable tron soundtrack
>return with RAM, pretty much no samples and live instruments
>make a big fuss about computers making people lazy, distancing themselves from their entire catalogue
>RAM ends up being their most uninteresting and boring album
>go on another huge hiatus, then disband because RAM had nothing interesting to iterate on
>thomas continues making more soundtracks of dubious quality
It's pretty obvious they came to dislike their own music, especially Thomas

In their defense discovery gets pretty old after the millionth time
>>
>>131136549
Nah he's back DJing now, this narrative doesn't hold.
Frederick Again saved his soul
>>
>>131136549
was this meant to be bait?
>>
>>131136549
What happened was very clear
>Go at it a few years, release Homework and do their first tour
>At some point during the tour or very shortly after they get really disillusioned with music as a whole and/or with their partnership, and want to step away. However this Daft Punk thing got so huge they would be retarded to step away now while they could make a career of it.
>Genius idea, make up robot costumes that anyone can wear and pretend to be them for promotion solely, and now that you are that disconnected from the image you do not even need to be involved with any aspect of Daft Punk you do not want to. So studio records, promotional records, the singular Alive tour they did since 1997, any of that could have been others using the Daft Punk name for them. Hence why so few things happened since 1997
>Eventually the business side gets unagreeable between the two, hence the breakup

nga you listen to untz untz techno
>>
>>131141838
yeah he made gay disco for homos and h&m stores
>>
They never started to hate their music, they just had the resources to hire studio musicians and make the kind of music they were inspired by and sampled.
>>
>the forgetable tron soundtrack
(Not true btw)
>>
OP didn’t even list their best OST.

just listened to it in full for the 1st time by watching the whole movie.
the movie is pretty moving, but it's the biggest vanity project of nepo babies i've ever seen in my life. the songs have a couple of cute ideas ("Veridis Quo") but they're still incredibly shit overall.
then i tried watching "electroma" to get the full picture of the level at which these guys were sniffing their own farts - it doesn't even deserve a comment.
>>
>>131143802
and their whole shtick about
>childhood memories slop worship
>being pure souls kidnapped by the evil music industry
>being humans behind the robot masks
is a bit pathetic at best. you can't call them innocent creatures either with the level of cynicism required to make their worst autotune slop singles.
kavinsky followed in their steps among these lines but at least his music was decent.
i wouldn't be surprised if one day guy-manuel does something solo that mogs all daft punk

my bad, he actually writes and produces for travis scott now. RIP

The comfyness and nostalgia with which tracks from Discovery hit me are off the roof.
>>
>>131136549
They made some ultra-catchy dance music, but their best work (Discovery) is just a bunch of samples mashed up and put through filters, and their worst (RAM) is essentially a tribute album.

I hate to sound like a /pol/tard, but once you realize Bangalter is a kike, Daft Punk makes a lot more sense.
>>
>>131136549
The current thomas bangalter press campaign makes me cringe
>>
>>131144720
So what, it's not like those other guys they sampled from created the sound.
>>
>>131144720
>just a bunch of samples mashed up and put through filters
Sounds like the entirety of 90s dance music

But le jews amirite xd

>I hate to sound like a /pol/tard, but once you realize Bangalter is a kike, Daft Punk makes a lot more sense.
just a kike would be banal - he's the son of a disco-producing kike already established in the industry. the merit of these guys is almost zero. they had some talent live as DJs and they can sample a catchy (though retarded) loop, and that's it
>>
>>131144746
>sounds like the entirety of 90s dance music
To someone who knows very little about dance music, I'm sure it does.
>>
>>131144752
Hah did not know that. Makes sense.

All La Compagnie Créole can be considered early Daft Punk
>>
>>131144797
Dear lord this is awful
>>
I really don't get the RAM thing, their entire popularity and the very reason as to why they even became known were because of their samples and electronic sounding music, seems kinda contradictory to then want to do a complete 180 and say that electronic music isn't real music. RAM wasn't bad but the approach they took just didn't really make a lot of sense. I'm still listening to Discovery and I've been listening to it pretty much my entire life almost and I still like it.

here's the biggest hit:

we poor frogs have suffered decades of this, it's probably still played at marriages
>>
>>131144872
>schläger-tier slop glorifying niggers
I mean he passed the torch, didn't he?
>>
>>131144864
a sign that they have huge egos while knowing that they got rich by producing garbage - maybe feeling guilty about the enshittification of music history.
tried RAM yesterday, everytime they try singing it's laughably bad and uninspired (as usual), even though overproduced in a 1970's LARP manner.

>>131144933
oh piss off to your rolling stones threads lmao

They always sucked, I never understood the blind worship:

around the world around the wooorld around the world around the wooorld around the world around the wooorld around the world around the wooorld wow very music
>>
>>131147200
they just wanted to be left alone and do noisy house/electro with random bleeps. but then an evil magician kidnapped them and forced them to produce walmart pop :'(
>>
>>131147366
What is it with these retards like daft and Justice that they do very good nasty bloops but then they have to go and larp as Prince playing some shitty wanna be funk
>>
>>131147980
>but then they have to go and larp as Prince playing some shitty wanna be funk
would be fine if they did just that.
it's the retarded and gay autotune slop that i don't get.
>>
>>131149683
Yeah but bad funk is much worse than no funk, you really can’t half-ass it… we may be thinking of the same tunes anyway, basically anytime these fuckers sing is a waste
