Serious question: how can anyone enjoy 'music' produced by these guys? It sounds like it's made by a random teenager who used FL Studio for the first time with the lyrics taken from snapchat captions. It's so cheesy that even if I was 11 I would be embarrassed about listening to it

THIS AIN'T NO FOOLING AROUND?

The turbo-normies have always had something beige and vaguely emotional to latch onto
>>
>>72321862
Same reason why people like Twenty One Pilots.
>>
>>72321862
Call it a longshot but it might have something to do with people generally being musically ignorant
>>
>>72322009

People go nuts for 21 pilots, what's the reason?
>>
>>72321862
literally all of their hits sound the same. it is unbelievable what happens when luck favors you.

Also they made that one meme "Selfie" track, and haven't made club music since. Now they just make Pop
>>
I find it hilarious you guys hate on this shit and champion Lil Uzi Very, Yachty, and all that trap shit when its all the same basic common denominator EDM bollocks.
>>
>>72321862
Because it's there
The thing you've got to realise is that the vast majority of people don't listen to music which they've found on their own, they listen to whatever is on at that particular moment. Same as TV, food, etc.

>>72322539
white guilt
>>
idk I got some good feels when I listened to Closer.

Yea

THIS IS ELL AY

>>72322489
It's "different" and "unique".
>>
>>72322540
This.
>>
>>72322539
The only trap that is even somewhat acceptable here is Travis Scott and Future. Get your head out of your ass
>>
>>72323434
But they sound like every other emo/indie alt-rock band
>>
>>72322539

only newfags like any of that trash
>>
>>72323651
Their songs appeal to privileged teens who think that school and relationship problems are the world's biggest problems. The lyrics to Stressed Out basically sums up their entire fanbase. And it helps they sound different that most stuff on top 40.
>>
>>72321862
its easily enjoyable music. zero challenge needed in listening to it. also kind of force fed happiness or whatever the fuck notes and melodies they use.

how can u not see how its popular? this shits for girls.
>>
>>72323651
But anon they're "DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE"!! What don't you understand about that?
>>
Why are they so punchable ?
>>
>>72322539
Holy shit this

90% of the hip hop posted on this board is no better than any chainsmokers crap
>>
>>72322539
The people that like that crap on /mu/ are white suburban teenagers who heard about how edgy and cool 4chan was from reddit.
>>
>>72322539
know your difference between patrician trap, and generic least common denominator trap.
>>
>>72323889
>patrician trap

No. Such. Thing.
>>
>>72323817
Because they're american.
>>
>>72322539
I find it hilarious that you're so insecure that you force yourself to hate popular music just to validate your taste
>>
>>72324116
How ironic, in this thread.
>>
>>72324174
>How ironic
/mu/ is ironic

Then explain this
Lemme guess, you think prog-rock and metal is the be-all end-all of music.
>>
>>72323759
could you sound more angry at how middle classed you are?
>>
More like the bonesmokers
>>
>>72324246
The term is polesmokers, but at least you tried.
>>
>>72324223
not the anon you quoted, but how are you jumping from someone saying trap is garbage to thinking he only listens to metal and progressive rock.

also how is that an insult?

I don't really like traditional metal genres or progressive rock at all, but would take them over trap every day.

Nobody does anymore. As I and many others predicted, they've become a modern nickelback punching bag.

>>72324223
Would that justify in your mind listening to that shit music?

I have literally, unironically, never heard a single song from these guys anywhere.
>>
>>72321862
Are they actually smokers? If not then how dare they culturally appropriate like that?
>>
>>72324315
Lucky
>>72324323
They probably thought it sounded cool
>>
>>72324270
because everyone i've seen who shit-talks an entire genre as massive as rap only do so because they were picked on by black people in school for bumping disturbed
>>
>>72324299
As in, they've become the new cool to hate artist. Much like nickelback before its time
>>
>>72321862
It's background elevator music. Turbo normie white girls go nuts over vaguely emotional, super inofensive and ear friendly, over-produced pop 'music'
>>
>>72323889
>Partician trap = gurl wit benis
>Regular shit trap = musical trap

It's a marketable, non threatening (read: white) type of pop with hip hop sensibilities.

trap and hip hop are EDM for porch monkeys

Yeah the faggy skinny niggers so threatening they put indie faggots to shame
>>
>>72322721
tru
>>
>>72324223
That's not trap, you fucking retard
>>
>>72324783
oh damn I didn't realise we were talking about trap
trap is pretty garbage outside of travis lol
