Does anyone know the difference between an Ibanez B10 bass bridge and a B100? I'm wanting to put black hardware on it, but I can't find a black B10 bridge, but the black B100 looks the same and looks like all the holes line up.

>>76732444evidently you are a man of little class or taste
Is a 1000$ classical guitar easier to play than a 300$ one and is there a major sound difference with only 700$ between the two?
>>76732464I think they are quite cool. The picture is quite crappy, though.
>>76732481evidently you are a man of little class or taste
>>76732470>with only $700one guitar is three times more expensive. How "easy" is to play depends on the nut, bridge, frets and fretboard. You can get those things corrected on a $300 guitar, but it would cost you around $200 and it would still sound like a cheap guitar.
>>76732444I have two more not in pic. A telecaster and a vintage 80's Ibanez AR-50.

>>76732506ThanksAnother one, if i spend 1000$ should i look for a used one online or buy a new one in a shop?
>>76732552Good used classical guitars are bitches. Classical guitars sound better with time, but there is a limit to that. If the frets are too worn out, that's a hard thing to change without damaging the instrument. If you can get a clean used classical guitar, go for it. You are going to get a much better instrument for your money, but, again, be careful.

>>76732715I don't think they are pretentious. Maybe kind of cheap luxury, Liberace tacky-bling, but that's their charm.
>>76732856np. Enjoy them. I had the Alnico 2. They were quite good.
And why is it Colter Wall? This dude's voice sounds like a rebels cry from years gone by. Seriously, if you have any self respect check out this album.
>>76731045i got an rg8 and it is fine as an entry into 8 strings, I wanted to wait and get an ESP JR-208 but said fuck it one day
>>76732884that's what I got. Gonna be my first guitar with humbuckers and I wanted to avoid a high output cause I never play high gain stuff. Shit is muddy
>>76732552i'd say find one in a shop specifically for classical guitars, the staff should be knowledgeable and able to work with you and your price range. Used classicals can be fantastic, but most will be trash that has sat in a case for years and years, which might not be a big deal but sans humidifier it my be a death sentence if your area is fucked weather wise

>>76734640>practice amp>65 watts or 30 watts.I assume you are buying them used. How much are you going to pay?
>>76734726Yeah I know, but since Roland costs 85 euros (~100 USD) and Kustom 95 euros (~110 USD) I don't think I should settle for any lower power amp.
>>76734835I would recommend you to get the Roland. They are sturdy and they do the job. I have never tried the Kustom, though.

thinking about going for a Schecter C-8 Deluxe Satin White instead of an Rg8, but really on the edge. I save 150$ on the schecter :/
Every now and then, I'll have mild convienences with my pedal train on where the rails are. What if you had a board that was just the sides and back rail. There'd be slits on the sides that'd let you place the rails where you wish. This would open up the possibility of having different types, like one that'd sink down on one side to allow someone to lay a rocker flat or ones that were completely flat so you could convert over to a two tiered board. Thoughts?

>>76737059Super snark clip on. I swear by mine, aside from having to hit a 12th fret harmonic on the b of my 5 string. Real solid and reliable, and cheap enough I don't worry about losing it at a gig.Or basic setup tools; set of feeler gauges, a rule down to the hundreth/10 thou, allen wrenches, precision screw driver set. A capo would help of you don't have one. Also possibly a soldering iron, being able to replace worn parts on the fly is invaluable. Or some mineral oil, naptha and some microfiber cloths; home depot has big packs cheap, as well as "cutting board oil" and vm&p naptha.Or a multipack of your favorite strings, and picks if you use them.Or a book on music theory relating to your current level, or something else of that nature. Probably because I'm older, but I prefer paper books when possible because I can get away from a phone, tablet or computer and thus get away from extra distractions. Also, writing notes.Or some cheap pedals like joyo, reliable cables, guitarfetish pickups, battery powered amp, whatever. I noticed you don't have strap locks or anything of that nature?Honestly though, if you have to think about guitar stuff you'll probably just end up with something you don't need or won't use. I fell into that trap. Best gift I ever got from a chick on a budget was a few packs of warm wool socks. I work outside in really rough winters, and she knew that I was having trouble keeping the feeling in my toes, she even got a kind that had extra material over the toes so the steel toe doesnt wear a hole in it after the first time they get wet. Better than any cheap guitar related thing she could have gotten me.

>>76740962Nothing I guess, I just feel like he uses them because they're made in Michigan (the shittiest city in Michigan, nonetheless).
>>76741018kek. im from MI, jacks third man records is pretty legit.
>>76741039Me too, from Battle Creek and I hate it here. Absolutely no music scene besides wannabe rappers.
>>76741064kzoo is just as bad but at least they have bell's
>>76741111Yeah, I don't really go over there that much but I haven't really heard of any local bands. The musician section on Craigslist is pretty dry.
>>76741123yeah at least you had a tv show that got cancelled after one season based on your city....even though it wasnt filmed there
>>76741155Yeah, that actually irritated me. It was a shitty show but it was so obvious that it wasn't filmed here, and the premise was pretty dumb too.
>>76741166i felt bad for dean winters. he was good in oz
>>76740304no one plays that high on an accousteec
>Capo on 2Heh, I put it on 5.
well this thread is JUST terrible
>>76736657go for it.
>>76742326>he doesn't play leads while chording
>>76741997Tell that to Al di Meola
Does anyone even play instruments anymore? You look back in the 70s or anytime before the 00s really and everyone would pick up an instrument and start a shitty high school band. But now even in college it's impossible to find people toe even jam with let alone start a band. And my Craigslist just has shitty indie rock girls and old boomers who want to play Cream and Rolling Stones.
>>76744437>Does anyone even play instruments anymore?>everyone would pick up an instrument and start a shitty high school band.>my Craigslist just has shitty indie rock girls and old boomers. So, what do you want?
Do I actually want a left handed instrument? I've left handed and I'm really unsure. I've tried my friend's guitar both normally and just playing it upside down to try it out and I don't really don't feel that much of a difference, while a right handed instrument is a lot easier/cheaper to find and more people are familiar with them.My friend has been encouraging me to pick up the bass, since he wants to start a band and I've expressed interest in wanting to learn an instrument. He thinks I should get a left hand, so I probably will, but I wanted some other thoughts on the matter. Also he thinks it would be cool to play a left handed bass so our instruments would be pointing in opposite directions when on a stage instead of going the same way.
>>76744523If it makes no difference to you, go rightie. I'm a left handed guitar player and it's always been a pain in the ass to buy good gear.
>>76744540I mean, I don't know how to play. Maybe it would easier to decide if I actually knew anything about playing an instrument, but he does make the point of it being easier to do the repetitive easier motion of strumming with your dominant hand naturally while you think about fretting with your non-dominant hand, though also actually picking is fairly important for playing bass too, isn't it?
>>76744589If you have absolutely zero practice, go as a right handed player. I would if I could, but I've been playing for too long as a left handed. There is no benefit for playing left or right handed. The brain adapts fast and if you don't have any practice at all now, it would be quite easy for you. If your friend were correct, every right handed player should play as a left handed.
>>76744639>If your friend were correct, every right handed player should play as a left handedWhat? I'm pretty sure most people strum with their dominant hand and finger with their off hand, which is exactly what he was saying. It's easier "autopilot" your dominant hand and then actually think about what you're doing with the frets with your off hand is what he was saying.
>>76744668I meant this: "Another easy test is to watch how you clap your hands – the hand that does all (or most of) the movement is the hand that you should strum with. People often assume that your dominant hand should be performing the “more complex” fretting job – however I generally have found that this is not the case. In my experience, the picking hand demands more precise coordination than the fretting hand. The one piece of advice that really irks me is the old “you’ll have an advantage with your dominant hand doing the fretting, cos it’s erm…harder“. Think about how silly that advice is. If that were true, why are all righties not playing left handed? Why is a left handed guitar not the norm? It’s just completely nonsensical."Which is the same he was saying. Anyway, you should go right handed, but it looks like you already made up your mind.
bridge pickup and volume knob only master race
>>76744823yeah, that's definitely the master race...
>>76744716>watch how you clap your hands – the hand that does all (or most of) the movement is the hand that you should strum withWell, I clap with my left hand mostly, making myself do it with the right hand feels kind of odd.I was thinking I was going to just get a right handed bass for a long time but I've been rethinking it lately.
>>76744437What's wrong with Cream and the Stones?
>>76744523It shouldn't matter. Just pick a side and keep at it.But there as many left handed guitars or basses so you it could be an issue finding the right one, so my suggestion is go right.
Anybody else here just pretend to be good at shredding and somehow manage to trick people into thinking you're good?
>>76745617Does shredding mean playing very very fast? That in itself is not easy to do.
>>76745635Maybe he's talking some Ralph Macchio in crossroads type shit.
Guys should I buy a Gibson 2017 sg standard or a Chapman 2017 ml1 pro modern? They are both roughly same price in my country. Chapman have some nicer specs on paper but made in Korea while Gibson is Gibson, has to be high quality, right? Plus halp
>>76745675do you intend to sell the guitar in the future? If so, go Gibson. If not, go Gibson. Who wants a fucking Chapman?
>>76745675you don't even know what you like?
Anyone own a reliced guitar?
>>76745727>>76745729Right now I own an epiphone sg g400 which is alright but I want my first proper guitar. Reading about the Chapman guitars, they have things like stainless steel frets, setneck/neckthru, hipshot locking tuners, coil splitting, and in general look pretty nice and high quality. I feel like since I own an sg already I might just upgrade it in the future and it will roughly be on par at least in sound to a Gibson.
>>76745754Do you need coil splitting? Do you need ss frets? Locking tuners are always nice.Look for a Schecter Banshee if you want those specs, because even though Chapman and Schecter are made in the same factory, they are not using the same components. Chapman is running a small run of guitars, so they still have to cut in some places.
>>76730509Nice guitars anon
>>76745794Fucking nice. I love that cadillac green.
>>76745809Cheers man. She's my favourite, sounds so good.
what do i need to buy to tune up my guitar/set the truss rod?i've had an epiphone les paul sitting in the closet for years, need to replace some volume knobs as well.
>>76745899Allen keys for the truss rod. To replace the volume knobs just a screwdriver.
>have an incredible urge to write music while at work >lose all motivation when I get home>ended up installing guitar pro on my work laptop and trying to transcribe some lines from my head into midi when I catch a break or two throughout the dayhate myself
>>76745927sing or whistle the melodies on your phone.
>>76745787I want coil splitting because I think I'd enjoy the option, ss frets sound good to me in the long run, since they won't wear out as easily. I'm not familiar with schecter at all to be honest. I'll compare specs and prices but in really leaning towards the Chapman and hope some people who actually own or played them can say something about them
>>76745954If you play every night 3 hours straight forward for 5 years, maybe you'll need ss frets. Chapman, PRS SE, Schecter, Reverend, and some other brands that don't come to me right now are made in the same south korean factory. Quality wise they are the same. Literally made by the same machines.
>>76745973What prs se model would you recommend? Some are half the price of a Chapman pro and some are roughly same, I know they are supposed to be good but they lack the "premium" specs Chapman offers for the pro range, no?
>>76746024The only thing they lack is the ss frets. And different pickups, but that really depends on your own taste. The new PRS SE Custom 24 has coil split too. And they look nicer, imo. The cheaper models don't have that, but if you already have a guitar with humbucker, try something with p90, unless you play with high gain.
>>76744823same except i leave the dummy pickups and knobs there to fool would-be copycats
>>76745973>Quality wise they are the same. Literally made by the same machinesBeing made on same machines does guarantee uniformity of quality because there is no uniformity of parts.
>>76746225yes, there are some magic wood planks that came out of some ancient sacred trees of the Fe-Do-Rah tribe. And the machines works differently depending on what the operator had for lunch. There are some Ramen Fe-Do-Rah Mahogany Chapman that sound very different from the Taco regular mahogany.
>>76746270 woods are different. even pieces from the same tree sound diferent dont you say precisely that when debating tonewood?
>>76732095 >>76731913 ok what now https://clyp.it/cwbs0j0f
>>76746055SS on this one though
>>76746306>dont you say precisely that when debating tonewood?no.
>>76746329ok you win then
What do I need to get so I can hook up my guitar to the PC?
>>76746562a guitar hooker
>>76746503lower key https://clyp.it/jomlvk2d
>>76746562Ideally a cable and an interface. The interface works as a preamp boosting the signal. You can connect your guitar directly through the headphones input, but it'll sound like crap. There are several new modelling amps that work as an interface too.
>>76746583dude, what do you want?
>>76746589thinking about getting this http://www.schiit.com/products/fulla-2\
>>76746055Definitely need some high gain cuz I like my fuzz tones but clean is more important for me. I just feel like the prs se don't exactly seem like THE first proper guitar I can buy when I see the Chapmans that look very premium for same price, like I said a they have setneck/neckthru, solid carved top with reveal binding, ebony fretboard, ss frets, etc I looked at prs se and they lack some of these "premium" features.
>>76746677>http://www.schiit.com/products/fulla-2looks nice. I like the design a lot.
>>76746689well, you have a clear winner then. Enjoy it.
>>76746707The prs se custom 24 is priced almost like a Chapman pro modern ml3, the ml1 is more expensive. Honestly now I'm a bit on the fence so I'll probably try them both in the store. The prs se don't feel like cheap chink/gook shit?
>>76746773>The prs se don't feel like cheap chink/gook shit? Not at all. But try them if you can.
I haven't bought a guitar in a while and thought I'd look for a American Standard tele or something.I'm in Aus. Have they always been this expensive? I thought they were less than $2000. Mexican strats are >$1000 when I think they were about $800 a year or two ago
new thread >>76746869
>>76746787Aight thx senpai, wouldn't have considered the prs se otherwise they seem like nice guitars But would you choose it over a Gibson sg that is priced 300$+ more?
>>76746874they are different. The Prs has a little bit larger scale. As an instrument, I think that the Prs are better than the sg, but if you find an used sg, I would go for that and some effects.
>>76746848>roo bucksThey had a price increase about a year ago. That and the Yankee dollar is overvalued atm.
>>76744523I'm left handed at basically everything except when I tried guitar out for the first time, I preferred right handed.Though if I learnt left handed, I think I would have regretted it. Just learn right handed. Once you get past the initial hurdle you will be fine.
>>76746897>roo bucksFeels bad man. Guess I'll keep an eye out until a good used one comes up. Either that or the price drops
>>76746895I have all the effects I need for now. Haven't considered buying a used guitar tho, isn't it better to buy new with a higher price?
>>76746907>living in Australia>not checking japanese guitarswtf
>>76746923If the guitar is mint, you are saving money. There are a lot of middle age crisis dad rockers selling their gear nowadays.
Would you rock this?
>>76739837Harley Benton instruments are okay for a taste, they are generally good value (but still not great guitars). I can't say for certain with that 8 string, but I got a 5 string bass from them and it was just meh.I'd definitely not upgrade it a huge amount, some DIY is okay but I certianly wouldn't pay to get it set up and absolutely wouldn't upgrade the pickups. The RG8 is pretty much the cheapest decent 8 string.
>>76747011if it was light wieght sure.
