I don't like opera. I like classical music in general, symphonies, concertos, sonatas, and the like, and am generally fine with songs, hymns, oratorios, and choruses, but I just don't like operas. And I don't know why.

I think David Bowie, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop make music that's good but not great, and they are way over hailed. I can't make it through a full album theirs, barring Ziggy Stardust and the Velvet Underground albums

I often day dream about being a famous pop star and doing a complete 180 on my second album and releasing a traditional surf rock track. As a contrast to my usual pop/R&B-esque discography.

I feel so inferior on this board. All the music I enjoyed in my youth was poorly rated by Pitchfork. I'm convinced only a minority of people are creatively intelligent enough to truly understand music, whether it be classical or modern.

I'm an album guy not an artist guy. I think more people should be. Art should be evaluated on a case by case basis and the fact that an artist created one great album and 9 terrible ones shouldn't detract from that one album's merit. I don't think I actually like music to the extent a lot of people here do, and it's probably why I can't get myself out of genre touristing, entry-level plebhood. >>
>>79444466
this is probably the patrician way of doing it
i find it easy for myself to distance the work from the artist himself(if he's a cunt irl) but idk after the shit someone like migos released i doubt there's anything they could do to make me like their music

Being something of a dilletante musicologist, I have an unhealthy obsession with the history of White Nationalist counterculture and its music. I've been into Rock Against Communism and National Socialist Black Metal since age 17 and will be pushing 30. To me, the topic is endlessly fascinating, reading all the interviews and accounts of shows in dingy clubs from all the roughshod zines and assorted publications. There's a certain authenticity in the craft which is found in few other genres. RAC might be the last niche of Rock'n'Roll that hasn't been commodified on account of its highly controversial content.

Same goes with the French Identitarian scene (or Rock Identitaire Français).

>>
>>79451798
>i don't care that much what your beliefs are.. will you forgive me?
No offense taken, really.

In terms of my beliefs, it's complicated. I have a great share of right-wing sympathies, but I don't really like belonging to any group. I like controversial ideas, and no group exists on the furthest fringe than National Socialists, White Nationalists and Fascists. That said, can solutions to complex world problems be reached through them? I'm pessimistic, so I doubt it. As one of my pals once said, "Apolitical is good. Anti-political is better."

I was into a rapper called RBX who'd constantly reference Islam, so I googled his lyrics just to see if others saw meaning in them. Little would turn up, but one day, I googled a the track where he says, "That's why he eats his pig-steak rare" which led me to a Neo-Nazi website noting the hypocrisy of popular culture's fetishization of Black Nationalism. I wasn't aware lots of black rappers who talked about Islam were, in fact, referring to some Black Nationalist bastardization of the Quran, but regardless, I started to critically think in that moment. Since the '80s, Black anger was only peripherally rooted in a desire for justice or equality; they merely wanted revenge on enemies, perceived and otherwise.

Even though I felt racism was wrong, I couldn't help but feel the racists were onto something, so I wanted to hear their side of the story. Predictably, the web was littered with sites demonizing skinheads for their wanton racism and street thuggery, but I eventually found my way onto WN sites with plenty of articles to peruse. Interest turned to intrigue with "white power music." I found my way onto a lengthy list of free mp3s. Most of them were of an abysmal quality, but a few grabbed me. From that point on, I wanted more and more, and since then, I've never stopped searching.
