Post any album that feels like it exists in a self contained world. Loveless I think is the most obvious example. Also help me define this condition because I'm having a hard time articulating it cleanly.

This too, and I'd throw Spiderland, SFTB, and GY!BE's first two albums on there
>>
Vespertine feels like it takes place inside Bjork's home, but it's completely hidden and blocked off from the rest of the world by some strange glowing plant growth, and Bjork just stays in there all day with her lover and hundreds of children.
>>

>Spiderland
Spiderland feels like this world but a lot colder and in black and white.
>>
>>81426455
I think it's got a foot in this world but it's still got a singularly transportive quality to it that makes it otherworldly or of its own world in some sense

Foxtrot feels like your on a ship in the middle of a storm in the ocean
I'm not sure what I feel from suppers ready though
>>
>>81426557
I would agree with this. Paper Mache Dream Balloon always did that for me as well.
>>
>>81426496
Yeah. I imagine like, stepping in a puddle on rainy day and just standing paralyzed, having a vision of a really cold stormy night out at sea with a crew who is cold and distant. Then snapping out of it and going to meet your also cold and distant friends.
>>
>>81426594
I really need to listen to Foxtrot again. I might as well listen to all of early Genesis. Trespass used to make me feel like i was in a medieval forest, dealing with the harsh winter and going to slay some creature deep in the wild.
>>
>>81426642
Genesis seems to nail the medieval feeling, Firth of Fifth feels like reading a fantasy story and dancing with the moonlight knight manages to sound like medieval metal
>>
>>81426333
I'm gonna add that Bitches Brew, Illinois, and Fare Forward Voyagers got it. I think a lot of Mars Volta fits the bill too
>>
>>81426203
This is literally the whole point of Iglooghost's entire catalog. He's trying to design stuff that sounds like it didn't come from this planet. He even has a whole manifesto and catalog of original Pokemon-esque characters he's made up.

I think Kanye is a terrible example desu. I can't get away from his persona, all the media drama surrounding him etc, doesn't take me away at all.

The best Animal Collective album
>>
>>81426224
No. I love The Life of Pablo, but I think the only Kanye albums that apply to what OP is talking about are MBDTF and Yeezus, maybe 808s.
>>
>>81426203
A lot of ambient works (not all though). A lot of avant garde composers too. Stockhausen exists in his own world, as does Sun Ra

Not counting Black Sabbaths albums of course.

I was thinking about the exact same thing when listening to Prima Edizione by Todd Edwards. It really is a world in itself. Some kind of heavenly digital landscape where everybody is united in their common admiration of God. The album itself was dedicated to God on the first place.

The other album that falls under this is Dataplex by Ryoji Ikeda. It's also digital heaven, but a more "binary"/computer kind.
As a bonus, the climax from data.matrix is so beautiful it makes me cry.

Can't really say I agree with anything else posted so far that I have heard (except for Loveless, but to a lesser degree than the previous two).

Albums that none come anywhere close to because how distinct they are within their respective genre(s). When you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere created by the album you can get lost in its world.

First album you posted is somewhat uncanny and somewhat insular but doesn't really have enough presence to build its own world. Second is a great album, but if it fits the mold its weaker than several other albums posted before it. You clearly have a weak feel for this :(
>>
Angherr Shisspa by Koenjihyakkei and Untilted by Autechre both feel like they are from another planet.

Angherr Shisspa feels like traditional/classical music by some warrior species from a planet with a very high gravity force.
https://skingraftrecords.bandcamp.com/track/mibingvahre

Untilted feels like a colony of robotic beings synchronized in some kind of primitive ritual.

Well, it's a pretty subjective issue, but a lot of albums posted on here really don't give me this "being a world on it's own" vibe.
