I have and can play a clarinet. I don't use it that often, but I do practice on it from time to time

would be a better equivalence

As if jazz is sophisticated in the slightest.

B-but music Is universal, i can feel the feels of the piano :"(

Boomers are low IQ as always.

yeah you can be a pledge in our club

But reading is how you consume comic books, not how you create them. The music equivalent of that would be having working ears. Instead, the better equivalence would be
>reads comic books
>can't write
>>
>>81428062
it's peak music. primal rhythm/feel meets elevated harmony meets improvisation.

this is the best comparison. you get what's going on from the illustrations but miss out on all of the mechanics and details and subtleties

But in most comics the writing is shit and you should be reading it for the illustrations anyway.
>>
>>81428219
This is fucking stupid.
It would be like liking art and not being able to draw yourself.
Or enjoying movies but never making one.
Or enjoying music and never making music.
You double retard.
>>
>>81428222

Coltrane learned to play clarinet in school and played in a community band than later switched to the sax
>>
>listens to jizz
>>
>>81428235
Based. At the end of the day nobody outside of a small group of wankers care about what obscure theory you're busting out, they just listen to it if there are good and interesting sounds going on.

>falling for the jazz meme this fucking hard
>>
>>81428245
no it wouldn't. at all. you fucking pleb. the whole point is that jazz is unique in that a fuckton of the appreciation comes from viewing it from a musician's perspective. film is to filmmaking as music is to composition. notice how jazz is a subset of music, faggot. thus your analogies are shit.
>>
>>81428242
that's specifically why i said illustrated books and not comics lad.
>>
Why is it that out of all the "complex" music genres Jazz is the one with the least amount of listenable songs?
>>
>>81428334
A lot of jazz is easy as fuck to listen to. Least accessible would be like, New Complexity
>>
>>81428317
I'm sorry, double-nigger, what do jazz musicians do again? Oh, right, play instruments. Can they also make your own music to play said instruments? Yes? Wow. Hmm. Weird. I don't do any of that, but I still like Jazz. Oh weird, hmm.

Maybe you're a retard.
>>
>>81428352
kek what the fuck is this nig talking about, complete jibberish
>>
imagine how fucking weird jazz sounds if you don't know theory, just horns wiggling around over drums. retarded and a waste of your time.
>>
why do musicians do this
filmmakers don't say you need to make films to truly appreciate them
authors don't say you have to write books to appreciate them
video game developers don't say you have to make games to appreciate them
why do musicians do this stupid bullshit
t. play 3 instruments and know some theory
>>81428230
if you truly dont know anything, learn to read sheet music
>>

again, i think jazz is different from other genres. i think jazz to an untrained ear is literally 1/10th as interesting or worthwhile.
>>
>>81427870
But if it is acoustic guitar?
>>
>>81428418
jazz is not all music. your analogies reference all-encompassing categories like Art and Film and Music. but jazz is distinctly different than other genres of music *because* within it a much greater degree of appreciation is afforded to musicians over non-musicians when compared to other genres in which knowing how to play isn't as big of a deal. consequently, arguing that jazz to the non-musician is comparable to Film for the non-filmmaker IS FUCKING RETARDED. NOW KILL YOURSELF.
>>
>>81428496
Jazz IS music. Just because other musicians "get it better" than those that don't play, doesn't' make it not music. Retard. Now say something not retarded.

kek imagine being this stupid that you can't even understand the other guy's most fundamental point but think you're winning the argument. like you unironically think that what you just typed addresses what i just typed. you think simply because jazz is music that your analogy stands even though i just wasted 5 minutes of my time explaining to you exactly why that doesn't work for jazz specifically. pic-related, it's you.
>>
>>81428577
I told you not to say something retarded, and you failed.
Jazz = Music
My analogy implied that Non-Musicians can appreciate Music.
So.
Non-Musicians can appreciate jazz.

Just because you're some kinda leftist hipster who plays guitar on the weekends doesn't make jazz some kinda non-music/hyper-music or whatever music. It's just music. Now say something not retarded.
>>
>>81427870

imagine normies liking jazz. fuck that. i love how niche and under the radar it is. i do wish jazzers weren't so autistic though.
>>
>>81428704
This.
But I would agree that having musical knowledge improve your apreciation not only for Jazz but music in general. Actually possess knowledge/theory on any form of art improve the value you give to whatever work of art. That's common sensei ffs.
>>
Reminder that good jazz is just called rock or pop.

Shitty jazz is still just called jazz

>>
>listens to classical

honestly
>>
>>81427870
I'd prefer if jazz was mostly piano, it sounds cool. Sax is ok too, but can sound annoying to me. But the worst is trumpet - I just don't like how it sounds in most jazz records I heard. So I think that is the main reason I'll never love jazz.
>>
>>81427870
It's literally the opposite, what killed jazz is all those faggots from conservatory. It's good for classical music but that's all.
>t. guy who did 12 years of conservatory in bassoon
>>
