You could get a Miata with the same hp as an eBay turbo d series and have more fun
>>
>>19844504
You'll have to pay the Miata tax or get one cheap and it'll be really bad.
>>
>>19844504
>>19844507
Yeah pretty much. I always see Miatas going for twice the money of a D series Honda. I drove an NB and while it felt just like my Civic, it felt slower and I couldn't fit in it. I'm way too tall. I'd get one as a second car if I can fit comfortably in an NA.

Besides, D series can range from 70hp to like 130. Just depends on which you get. Z6 is one of the best ones.
>>
>>19844516
>I couldn't fit in it
lmao how fat are you shingu, my classmate who's 6'3 could fit in a NA and he's not even a lanklet
>>
>>19844542
I'm only 5'11ish and I'd be too wide to fit in a Miata.
>>
>>19844542
I heard the NB was the most cramped model. I'm 6'2" 200lb skeleton. I need to find an NA to try out. The EG has wayyyy more room. I don't even have the seat all the way back.
>>
>>19844207
I dont know what you mean by "make decent power"

125 horsepower at the crank is pretty pitiful

also where I live its a lot easier to find a junked accord or crv with a k24 than to try to find a really old civic or something with a d series

I think it's just muscle weight in my legs. I was always that kid at family gatherings everyone said "you need some meat on them bones" to. Pretty annoying. Kek

I really do hope I can fit in an NA though. In the NB my left knee was jammed between the wheel and the door and my huge size 16 feet had issues working the pedals. It's actually really impressive how Honda managed to fit so much space in the EG. Same year Corolla was more cramped.

I would say if your feet are wide you might be able to just keep your foot straight and roll it over to hit the gas

I have to rotate my foot quite a lot because its small

I see a lot of people build and turbo them and make 3-500whp
>>
>>19845051
Kyle from boostedboiz used to have one in his wagon it made 300whp, also look up bisimotos wagon it also has a d16 and makes 700whp. So it’s very much possible
>>
>>19843833
Shouldn't b18 also be an option or am i wrong?
Also sure d16s have great aftermarket but they only are really good if you want gas sipping daily.

>>19844203
How much rust?

>>19844516
70hp to 140hp if we look over the whole series.

>>19844546
If we are talking local sure crv and accords are all over with k series, but for ebay engines d series is cheapest and most available.
Not sure where hes going with the power bit though, d series turbos worse than r for less MPG, only reason to go for d is fuel efficiency, weight and maintenance.

>>19844549
>Tiny black car surrounded by bro trucks
My life. You get used to it pretty quickly.

>>19844637
I sorta do this but position on brake, throttle and clutch can make things a bit awkward. My foots just not quite wide enough to roll. I wear a 10 and a half.
Shingu got clown feet.

>>19844682
Keep practicing.

>>19845051
Yeah but its a huge moneydump past 200hp. Also tuning if running 3 stage vtec requires you to really know the engine well. People who really push d series typically go for single engagement vtec engines cause turing it is a hell of a lot easier.

If all the oil disappeared from the engine you would get an oil pressure light. Are you sure oil was put in your car properly?

Put in 5w30 (thicker oil will stay in better) until fill line when it's completely cold in the morning, then 10min after you return home in it check the level and fill it again. Check oil level every fill-up until you determine how much oil it's burning.

You can often fix the oil burning on these by soaking some cleaning liquid on the pistons through the sparkplug holes, it's oil passages getting blocked with shit not letting the oil return so it gets burned.

Or you could do nothing and dump the car

Honestly, Honda is the only reason I'm proud to be from central Ohio. My mom's connections at Honda also let me do some cool internship stuff too.

By the way, get hyped for the year 2020, there's a secret project Acura's working on, and holy shit I'm excited as hell.

Also, the s1000 is almost certainly coming to the us, so get hyped for that too.

Pic related, it's my mom and her crew with an nsx concept model. She drove it and got up to 140mph on the short track.

I’m told that I am better off with a full coil over set for suspension replacement. I live in Wisconsin near the city and have no idea what kind of spring rate I should use. I’d much prefer not having the top of my head hit the cabin roof when I hit the occasional sort of shallow bump. I’m thinking the GC set straight from their website is the way to go. Very excited, friend just picked this up for me. First car.

99 Prelude base model, 180,000 miles but it was only a grand. Has the typical slow unlubed windows, stereo doesn't work (Probably blown fronts and broken AFBS rear), suspension is squeaky and probably needs new bushings. No 5th gear issues, water leaked into the trunk once but the seals were replaced. might have the elusive crank wobble but I'm not sure. It started right up after sitting for months and made it to his place safely. I trust the car since it was owned by another good friend of mine.

no bread on hood because I'm 500 miles away but it should arrive in a couple of weeks. He's going to drive it here and I'll fly him back with airline points. He works at a honda stealership so he's going to bring it in for an inspection.
>>
>>19853099
>180,000 miles but it was only a grand
Sounds like a good deal to me. Watch the oil with that mileage though.
>>

Yeah I'll watch out for that

My friend says it went into gear just fine but the shifting was a bit notchy so he thinks the master or slave might be going.

it also is a little rough under 3000RPM and dies 1/10 times after coming to a stop so he thinks it could be a fuel issue or the IACV.
>>
>>19853373
>it also is a little rough under 3000RPM
I bet on EGR.
>>
>>19850166
I'm not 100% sure, however for this to happen twice and not having an oil spot in my driveway leads me to believe otherwise. Yeah no oil light at all which is very strange and the stick came up dry from the first hole up when I checked twice. I'll try both of these. I at least need this car to last another year without major issues.

my friend is now saying that my car gets locked into 5th gear if you shift into it while stopped, but it shifts right out of 5th fine if the engine is off. That's a standard base model, aka "STD". Looks to be in awesome shape. They have really long gears - you will be reving low on the highway. Those engines (d15b1) are lower powered variants of the d15b2 which is already low powered. The only actual differences between the two engines are the cam and ECU. Swap them with a DX model, and get a "big increase" in power. The stock engine/trans combo is great for mpg, but terrible for performance/fun. I installed the DX cam/ecu as well as an Si transmission swap. It was definitely more peppy, but not at all fast. Got about 36mpg driving it like an asshole. Stock, they're capable of 45mpg or better.
>>
>>19853611
Yes, all d series intakes swap over, use the sensors from your old manifold and use a z6 manifold gasket.

I do really like the 60 sidewall. I keep my suspension pretty high because I gotta drive all over the place so the extra sidewall fills out the fender gap really well. Plus I get a bit more lift.

Crash anon here, ended up upgrading to an 08 AWD crv to replace the old one. It was more than I expected to pay for a new car but at least it doesn't have a CVT.

I'm more hyped about this car's 15th birthday than my 23rd birthday.

Also a nihga crashed into the Jack in the box around the corner from my house.

well ask any of the CM owners here, but most of them use those for daily drivers so not much goes to extremes. Just get regular oil changes to keep that chain happy. The K20 stuff might come from those tweaking up their type Rs or RSXs
