what are you supposed to do if you're riding your bike and some hot but baka girl is flashing you?

Pull up next to them at the next light

So, I got my hands on this Yamaha R7, huh? A "sportbike," they called it. More like a torture device. I'm talking about a machine that's slower than a snail on a hot plate, and about as comfortable as a medieval rack. It's like trying to race a tortoise in a marathon while wearing a straitjacket.

The thing looks like a racetrack refugee, all sleek and aerodynamic and whatnot, but it's got the soul of a grocery getter. It's like trying to squeeze a Ferrari engine into a Yugo. The acceleration is about as exciting as watching paint dry, and the handling is about as sharp as a butter knife.

I rode this thing out into the country, hoping to find some open road and let it rip. But it was more like a Sunday drive with grandma, only with a lot more pain. The seat is harder than a rock, and the riding position is so cramped, I felt like I was being squeezed into a vice. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

After a few miles, I started to feel like I was going to fall apart. My wrists were aching, my back was killing me, and my legs felt like they were going to fall off. It was like being tortured by a sadistic sadist.

So, if you're looking for a motorcycle that's about as exciting as watching grass grow, and about as comfortable as a medieval rack, then the Yamaha R7 is your huckleberry. But if you're looking for a machine that can actually get your blood pumping without causing you physical pain, you might want to look elsewhere

Do these look like junkyard markings dbt? I'm starting to think that my zx6r got a junkyard motor instead of a new motor.

I pulled the valve cover off tonight to inspect for anything weird inside the head. Nothing, but I checked the two valves that were in the correct position and they were out of spec.

There is a number stamped on the back of the engine that will correlate to your vin if you call Kawasaki and have them run it. There is a number on the back of my engine.
I don't know how Kawasaki does it, but I know the Japanese car manufacturers do not put vin numbers on warranty replacement new engines or transmissions.

I'm betting this is a junkyard motor and it's just hogged the fuck out at this point.

>>27980311
Fucking kek. Does not surprise me at all. I've seen all kinds of shit happen like that. The PO had no reason to lie to me about it 6 months later, and I even gave him an out, saying I didn't remember if he specified a junkyard or new motor. Perhaps the dealer pulled the old switcheroo on him.

Suzuki GN125: The Siesta-Enhanced Classic on Two Wheels (Now with a Seat You’ll Never Want to Leave)

The Suzuki GN125 is the go-to bike for anyone who values simplicity, comfort, and, most importantly, a ride that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Assembled in Argentina by siesta-empowered workers using Chinese parts, this retro icon offers tried-and-true Japanese engineering that’s lasted decades without needing an update.

Powered by a modest 11 horsepower, the GN125 won’t have you breaking speed records anytime soon. But who needs to rush when you’re barely burning through any gas? Its lightweight build and gentle pace mean you can cruise for hours without worrying about frequent fuel stops. And let’s be honest, ABS is overkill when you’re barely exceeding school-zone speeds.

Where the GN125 really shines is in its dashboard. Equipped with neutral and gear indicators, a tachometer, and even individual blinker indicators for each side, it’s the perfect amount of tech to keep you informed without being overwhelmed. The trip odometer is a nice touch too, even if it’ll take a while to rack up significant miles.

But let’s talk about the seat, arguably one of the bike’s best features. Upholstered in classic foam and leather, it’s so comfortable that your morning commute feels more like a lounge session. Designed for maximum comfort, it perfectly complements the relaxed riding posture that’ll keep you grinning mile after mile.

Sure, availability might be a bit limited (don’t expect to see it at every stealership), but that just makes the GN125 more special. With its laid-back design, exceptional fuel economy, and seating comfort that rivals your favorite armchair, this humble bike is perfect for those who want to slow down and enjoy the ride—one siesta at a time.

I own the 300. Word of advice for modifications, the oem seat is a bit too thin for most people, the sprockets are undersized for all of them because honda was trying to make up for torque on the 300 and reused the same sprockets on everything else, and if you plan to mount a luggage rack that attaches to the top of the rear fairing I would suggest the tail ones instead.

Patrick Bateman: "Do you like Suzuki motorcycles?"

Paul Allen: "I guess they're okay."

Patrick Bateman: "Their early models were a bit underpowered for my taste, but when the GN125 came out in the late '80s, I think Suzuki really found its niche in the commuter market. The bike is a perfect balance of form and function, with its classic UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) styling, and a 124cc engine that delivers a smooth, reliable performance. It's a bike made for the urban environment—compact, lightweight, and simple. It may not have the aggressive power of a sportbike, but it has an undeniable charm and practicality. What I appreciate most is its minimalistic design and its clear, no-frills efficiency."

[Bateman walks over to a parked GN125, admiring it.]

Patrick Bateman: "In fact, the GN125 was instrumental in cementing Suzuki's reputation for reliable commuter bikes. Sure, it doesn't scream performance, but that’s the beauty of it. It's a bike for the discerning rider who values functionality over flash. It’s more than just transportation, it’s a statement—practicality as a form of rebellion against the excesses of modern consumer culture. The GN125 isn’t trying too hard, and that’s what makes it so refreshing."
>>
>>27981076
[Bateman picks up a motorcycle chain and swings it nonchalantly.]

Paul Allen: "Hey, Bateman, what's with the chain?"

Patrick Bateman: "Oh, this? Just making sure the bike’s secure." [He chuckles, still holding the chain.] "You know, people often overlook bikes like the GN125. They get caught up in all these larger, faster machines, but they don't realize the value of simplicity, the pleasure of something that does exactly what it's supposed to without all the unnecessary complications."

[Bateman approaches Allen, slowly.]

Patrick Bateman: "The GN125 is so well-engineered, most people don’t appreciate the smoothness of the ride or the ease of maintenance. It’s an icon, Paul—a commuter’s dream. And you know what they say about icons... Hey ”

[He swings the chain.]

Patrick Bateman: "TRY GETTING PREMIUM AT THE PUMP NOW, YOU FUCKING SQUID!"

36 year old dude and not thrill seeking just like to cruise the backroads around me. Started riding in spring this year and did MSF then got a used hunter 350 (single cylinder turd) but it gets me around. To be honest I am content with my ride even if it is a royal poofield but part of me wants a slight upgrade next year. Should I indulge in that feeling? What is a good second bike for an older non thrill seeker. 98% pavement riding. 0 freeway. Was looking at the moto guzzi v7 or perhaps a triumph speed twin 900?

Or I try a new style and get a rebel or eliminator for cruiser? I can pay cash for whatever as long as its $12K or less. Harley fags need not apply.

I installed some new fork springs and preload adjusters on the tw200. It went from stock (.50) to stiff (.70) which is supposed to be a 40% difference. I also used 15w fork oil instead of 10w because I weigh about 180 pounds. Overall, it was one of the best upgrades I've done so far for about $150. I also installed a chain roller and it's helped a lot with my chain tension problems since I went to a 60 tooth rear sprocket.

thanks for reading my blog and have a safe ride

I had the choice of rebel 300 and w800 for the same price and took the rebel. The 300 is fine but the cb is probably a better choice for speed and the chassis is better meant for it. 300 has been a great bike for me though since it is the first thing ive owned period. Also the extra 7mph top speed for 2k more in the used market just didn't feel worth it with the 500s.

Ah yeah the 1100 suffered the same problem as the 500 and 300. Theres an identity crisis between all of them. The 300 and 500 are held back by gearing, sprockets and tune, sprockets are the same on the 3 and 5 for some reason. 1100 basically just exists for people wanting dct, it doesn't have much in common with the 3 and 5. 300 can't pullmuch when your going past 70mph though people don't have this issue on the bigger engine. I want a magna... Or honda to bring back vf and magna. Hell even vt would be nice.

The T7 is capable of much rougher terrain than it has any business being capable of. Nobody is buying a T7 to go do miles and miles of single track. It’s an amazing bike to go anywhere. I’ll ride an hour north on the highway, get off and ride paved backroads that turn into dirt roads, then hit some class VI roads (old roads no longer maintained) and then highway back home all in one day. I have a WR250R for more aggressive off roading but it doesn’t have the range of the T7 because fuck riding that thing on the highway for 2+ hours. If they aren’t your thing that’s cool but it’s bullshit to allege that nobody is taking them off-road for more than a few minutes.

Perfect for the t7. Nothing in that pic really qualifies in my mind as the kind of offroading the t7 won't do, outside of maybe thicker mud down south. You start seeing really fucked up roads out west that look like this, and that pigfat t7 will feel like it's way out of its element. Something a dual sport should shine in.

You said it perfect yourself though. You have a wr250 for more aggressive shit. I'd take my mom's Kia down that road.

There are rocks everywhere in New England. This picture doesn’t really show how steep the road is but it was pretty bad. Nobody is driving a KIA up this. I’ve made it up many steep, rocky inclines without dropping it despite the shitty stock tires. Anything like your picture is unsuitable for any large adv bike but I bet people could make it through if they had to. Obviously they are a compromise but you make different compromises with small dual sports too.

R inflation is just a fact of life when it comes to motorcycles, in 2024 a bike needs at least three Rs to be equivalent to one R in 1984.

I "outsmarted" my beeline moto 2, feel free to laugh at my retardation.
I'm approaching a somewhat big/busy/complex intersection. Beeline shows me this.
I think "the app fucked up, it probably wants me to make a u-turn after turning right". I turn left.
The app reacts "Ok, recalculating" and renders further route without any surprises.

Plot twist: to the right there was a waypoint that I manually added, and I wanted to reach it. But since I clearly went towards my final destination, the app discarded the intermediate waypoint — that's the right thing to do I would say, as manually removing the waypoints that you decided to skip would be annoying.
The same conclusion as before: you can trust beeline moto 2, its directions have not failed me even once so far, but you shouldn't turn off your brain (or pretend to be a galaxy brain) when using it.

the CP2 engine ain't a racing engine so putting it in the R series is kinda stupid. It's a oversqaure mid rpm high low end torque engine. It's still hella fun though not rally racing oriented.

What's the interval for the "non dual sport" t7? Would you argue that a XR650 is not a dual sport?
At least the t7 can make it out of the zip code.

well that sounds pretty good. A Husaberg 450/500 for example has maintenance every 15 hours and requires changing of all bearings in the engine every 60 hours/45 when used hard.

Thats how competition bikes are.

an XR650 is NOT a competition hard Enduro no. a T7 is a street-bike.

dude noone rides exclusively off-road with a T7. Yes you can do some trails with it but its primary function is roads.
The primary function of a Hard Enduro is the nastiest areas of rocks, mud, water and steep inclines.

I came back to light dual sports, and I've been riding the better part of 8 years now. Don't be afraid to take the smol bike pill for a few years. This includes watching videos and understanding preloading front brakes, obstacle evasion, practicing emergency braking and evasion, getting over obstacles, offroad traction control and power sliding/saving a slide, etc. When I first got this bike I hit a cinderblock at 50mph in the middle of the night. Unloaded the front suspension and went right over that bitch, HARD. But had I hit it 8 years ago I'd have dumped the bike. I also had a guy run a roundabout and I had to slam the brakes recently. People around me freaked out, but I retained full control. Again, 8 years ago I'd have flown into him like those beginners afraid to hit their brakes that coast into the backs of cars at red lights. This isn't meant to be a brag, just noting that on a motorcycle everyone is out to get you. You need the mind/body connection to trust slamming your brakes, properly preloading the front if necessary, as well as controlling a difficult turn and low/medium speed control.

Until your brain rides on autopilot, you don't need a bike capable of doing backflips from poor throttle control and hitting 140mph. I surprised a bunch of boomers standing on the pegs of a sportglide earlier this year and doing their little harley obstacle course with the tank between my knees. It can be done on any bike, but you need to know how to control any bike if you ever want to ride one safely.

Bit weird when I think about it, it's not like it doesn't have plenty of corporate branding in it too.
>>
>>27981791
Obviously. It serves its intended purpose really well. It’s made to do a little bit of everything not to “larp” as an enduro. The only street legal bikes more capable off road than a T7 are going to suck if you need to cover any sort of distance on road. Even those suck off road compared to an actual enduro bike.

>>
>>27981820
who the fuck is crosshopping a frunkbike and a t7?
>>
Just like autism, motorcycles are on a spectrum. Just as roads are.
VFR800X/Crossrunner is better on shitty roads than a regular VFR.
V-Strom 650 is better on shitty roads than a SV-650.
Tenny will be better than either of those on even more shittier roads.

Placing bikes on the road-offroad spectrum can be done objectively. Roads can be placed on the same spectrum objectively.
Determine your expected usage and what you are willing to compromise, and pick a bike.
>>
>>27981811
there are plenty of bikes in this category available. I wouldnt put it on any pedestal, it seems to be a reliable, comparable cheap medium-sized adventure but most people who want to use it more seriously off-road tend to dump a lot more money into it to the point where other bikes become viable alternatives.

But this was a completely meaningless argument as soon as the R15 and R25 existed anyways.

How tight should your boots fit? Left foot feels great in some alpinestars boots but right foot is cramped along the toebox.
