>hey chatgpt give me an honest review of the Yamaha r7 as if it were written by the journalist Hunter S. Thompson

So, I got my hands on this Yamaha R7, huh? A "sportbike," they called it. More like a torture device. I'm talking about a machine that's slower than a snail on a hot plate, and about as comfortable as a medieval rack. It's like trying to race a tortoise in a marathon while wearing a straitjacket.

The thing looks like a racetrack refugee, all sleek and aerodynamic and whatnot, but it's got the soul of a grocery getter. It's like trying to squeeze a Ferrari engine into a Yugo. The acceleration is about as exciting as watching paint dry, and the handling is about as sharp as a butter knife.

I rode this thing out into the country, hoping to find some open road and let it rip. But it was more like a Sunday drive with grandma, only with a lot more pain. The seat is harder than a rock, and the riding position is so cramped, I felt like I was being squeezed into a vice. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

After a few miles, I started to feel like I was going to fall apart. My wrists were aching, my back was killing me, and my legs felt like they were going to fall off. It was like being tortured by a sadistic sadist.

So, if you're looking for a motorcycle that's about as exciting as watching grass grow, and about as comfortable as a medieval rack, then the Yamaha R7 is your huckleberry. But if you're looking for a machine that can actually get your blood pumping without causing you physical pain, you might want to look elsewhere

br/o/'s it so fucking over.
I was riding out for lunch on my Harley sportster during work and was bringing back some bean soup for someone and it split the bag spilling the contents and the soup onto the motor immediately burning it in.
Went to get it washed and the dude at the handwash said he could get it out. I come back and the guy fucked the chrome with a scotchpad in a small section and stopped. He apologized but refused to take accountability.

Is there a way I can buff that chrome head and clean that shit off? or am I fucked and it needs a rechroming?

It wasn't the clutch cable snapping, it was used to teach as a premptive measure for 2 stroke run away and/or a mix of some boomerism over clutch wear depending on which new rider manual from a manufacturer you look at the scans for. Clutch cable snapping even on really vintage pre 70s bikes causes the bike to stall the same as it does now unless you are constantly holding the throttle open.

Very niec. One of my several dream Harleys is a 1991 Fat Boy exactly like the one from Terminator 2, but I’ve been contemplating just getting a ‘96 or later one because they improved the 5th gear output sprocket splines, crankcase breather, and a few other little things on the Evo engine by that point. Either way I need money first lol.

The whole situation with this bike has me fucked up. I tested pressure with a manual gauge on a stand and it was in spec. I guess it's time to hook the gauge back up, zip tie it to the triple tree and stare at the gauge while going mach Jesus.
I suppose it could be a weird electrical feedback at a certain frequency or some shit.

The light blinks under load in high rpms. Google searching "low oil pressure under load" brought up a lot of muscle car results for bad crank bearings. For it to completely lose all pressure, I would think the bearings would have to be so loose it would be making noise.
So I guess I'll hook up the gauge and test it on the road, though it seems kind of sketchy on a bike to do that, but I really want to know what's actually going on with the pressure.

Technically depending on state you're supposed to have X inches between the blinkers, plate orientated only on center or on left side in such and such way, but it's effectively a free for all as long as the bike was originally registered as road legal in your name.

hey guys how common is it for coolant to dissipate in a 600? I got a new bike that's got 1500km on the clock now, and I went to go check the coolant level today and it's well below the minimum level mark

I called the mechanic who did the first service on the bike at 1000km and he couldn't remember if he did anything with the coolant, but on the invoice I was given it stated he "checked it", so I would like to assume he did actually check it and topped it up if needed and I wasn't swindled, but also, that means it's basically lost all of its coolant in the span of 500km

I checked everywhere for a sign of a leak but couldn't see any. I turned the bike on and let it idle for about 10 minutes until the coolant temp was up a little bit above the average ride temp, then did another check but couldn't see any leaks and there was no fluid at all on the ground

Should I just top up the coolant and monitor it or should I send it back to the dealer to get something sorted under warranty? only problem there is the dealer is fucking useless and I'll probably be bikeless for months
>>
>>27983070
And what about it!!!!
>>
>>27983175
Are you looking in the radiator or in the coolant reservoir? It's not such a big deal if the reservoir is below the "low" mark but if the radiator doesn't have much coolant in it then you'll get some problems. What does your temp gauge say?
Also what bike?

Frens I need some help. Does this bike worth 3200€?
Only one dr650 for sale in my country, in the EU they have similar prices. It has a license plate and brand new tires. it's a '98 model with 34k kilometres in it. Would this be a reliable choice if I want to do longer tours and also go off road and play around in the bushes? My other choice would be an XR650r for 3.5k€ with 33k kilometers in it, but it's kickstart only.

I wired my horn button to kill the ignition instead, now when the bike is engine braking, I can push it and once I release, the accumulated fuel in the exhaust will ignite with 2 very loud bangs.

No idea really, I know nobody who could give me the pros and cons of kickstart vs electric start. I heard kickstart can be a bitch, but I also got fucked many times already because of the sudden battery deaths.

What's your input? Honda vs Dr if I want to do 80% road 20% trail? Also I have legs like a twig
>>
>>27983358
>Dr if I want to do 80% road 20% trail?
might be a bit too hardcore (as in pointlessly competition-like) for mostly road use but yeah do it if you can find enough parts for it.
Kickstart just means you can run without a battery which saves weight, but as the other anon said, if you constantly stall it or drop it on trails and then even have to kickstart it again every time it might wear you out fast. Kickstarting without breaking your leg is not only about strenght but also about technique
>>
>>27983358
Kick start isn't hard if the bike is well maintained and you know the proper technique, but it's not easy to do if you're stuck halfway up a steep hill at an odd angle on uneven ground.
I have a KLX650R that's kick start only and my mate has an RMZ450 that's kickstart only, we both wished we had electric start but it's not a deal breaker.
>>
>>27983351
I'll be fine, as an addition the neighbours kids love it, they ran to my yard only to say that it's the coolest thing ever.

Would a tank bag with a clear window work? I feel like I've seen some that are touch screen compatible.
>>
>>27983358
Not having kick start isn't the end of the world since you can always bump start it in a pinch. The only time I had trouble bump starting was when I went out when there was ice everywhere and I couldn't get even the engine to turn over in 3rd gear. But that was a stupid idea in the first place.

Still, I would rather have a kick starter than not, but I don't know if I'd trade in electric start for it.

It's one of those things you wish you had when you need it.
My bikes are all kickstart only, yet some times I wish I had an electric starter when the bitch doesn't want to fire up and you're giving it your all to kick over a 60s 750cc.
Then when your fancy jap bike dies on the side of the road and your battery gives way, your starter just spinning slower and slower till you just hear the solenoid clicking and you're thinking "fuck why can't they just have a kickstarter"

I did two hits this morning with the oil hot where it should have done it. Had a full 60 psi on the manual gauge the entire time. I think there's a bad pin or wire on the pressure switch circuit that's going open circuit from vibration at redline.
I'm going to leave it hooked up like this for a while and monitor it, make absolutely certain it's not losing pressure. Meanwhile I'll dig into the wiring harness and see what I can find.

When I was a kid my dad had a client that he was trying to get $40,000 worth of business from, and motorcycles came up. My dad told him a story about how my uncle borrowed his V65 magna and went through a school zone going 140mph, and the boomer lost his fucking mind. "A 1100 CC MOTORCYCLE COULDN'T GO NO 140 MPH!!! MY HARLEY'S HAVE 1800CC MOTORS AND TOP OUT AT 115! THESE ARE THE BIGGEST MOTORCYCLES YOU CAN BUY BUDDY!!"

His ignorance was astounding. No need to worry about compression, or sport bikes, just displacement. He unironically though a harley davidson hard tail or whatever he had at the time was THE FASTEST motorcycle in the world.

I asked my dad why he didn't correct him later, since he squeezed my shoulder when the guy started yapping as if to tell me not to open my mouth, and it's because the money was way more valuable than the argument. Plus the guy was a moron so he'd be stupid enough to pay for extras.

Yeah it could be anything really. My bike has all solid mounts so there's a lot of vibration going through everything. Luckily the pressure switch goes straight to the instrument cluster and no through the ecm, so it could just be a chaffed wire or something.

nobody wanted to pay modern retro money for actual retro handling and service intervals.

It depends, the XR is very high strung compared to the DR and doesn't have the best road manners unless you swap sprockets and get good tires on it. Plus it's kick start only unless you wanna add weight to it, which you shouldn't because that's one of its biggest qualities being a potentially lightweight dualsport.

I've thought about this, Suzuki seems to be "just existing". Little to no innovation, smaller cc bikes look very cheap, GSX-R looks stuck in 2016...
Are they just milking the Suzuki brand name until it closes?

Sorry I didn't explain well. A small amount of air in the radiator cap can cause the coolant to burp out of the reservoir under/inside of the bike, not out of the radiator/cap itself.
