Dneprs are pretty okay honestly, but they're not wrenchlet friendly, nothing soviet is.
Still they're incredibly simple machines and most breakdowns are due to bad quality parts, user error or just shit coming loose.
Yea I've heard a lot of horror stories too, but I've also heard of people touring half the world in one go with zero issues.

I personally don't really like Dneprs that much as their boxy tanks are ugly imo.
Urals on the other hand retained that Teardrop shaped tank.

I rode to work this morning and had a full 60 psi on the manual gauge and the pressure light was flashing even with the harness disconnected and de-pinned from the instrument cluster. So it's either the cluster or the ecm or some kind of feedback in the electrical system causing the light to flash, only at WOT high rpm. Weirdest electrical gremlin I've ever seen. At any rate, I'm done chasing it. I'm putting felt tape over the light and wiring in my own simple led indicator light for the pressure switch, and I'll be done with it

I will concede, I should have put a manual gauge on it sooner, that was my fault. It just seemed really sketchy to do it on a bike and the circumstances under which it occurred were so weird that I just couldn't believe it was an electrical gremlin. I've never seen something like that before in my years as a tech and it was my fault for falling to my own hubris. I will now fall on my own sword.

I'm not sure yet. It's been one problem after another with this bike the whole summer. It's a 2 year build. Lots of unavailable parts. Valves are due for adjustment. It still has the weird jerky on/off throttle response at low speeds, which I think is a design flaw. Everything is stacking up where I should just sell it at this point.
I'm not in a rush to sell it but I'm still considering it. I'm going to buy that 2011 gsxr750 on Monday that I've been eyeing. I'll see how I feel once I get that bike.

thoughts on BBK?
I have a fucked piston. possibly a fucked cylinder (gonna pull it apart and check this weekend)
will a BBK add value if I decide to flip the bike?
>>
>>27987587
>Thoughts
They don't add as much power as you'd think. In your situation, where the piston and bore are already fucked, it might be a good alternative to expensive OEM parts or if you can't find OEM
>Will it add value
It will do the opposite. I would always choose an OEM bike over one with a Big bore kit
>>
>>27987592
what do you need to get power out of it?
should I look into cams as well?

Got a fuzzy seat for the hawg. I think it’s a bit much but will be nice for cold weather and long rides. Also adjusted shortened the clutch linkage because I couldn’t get enough travel to fully disengage the clutch. The bike doesn’t want to walk when it’s in gear anymore but finding neutral is still a pain. I think the primary belt might be too tight, it’s only got 1/4-1/2 inch of play and I think it’s supposed to be 3/4 or so. Hopefully that fixes it. It least I can stay still if I need to stop in gear now though.

Pretty hard, for context there was a black kid in my msf class who could not stop dropping the bike and did not want to listen to instructions. He was told to stop, he would rev the throttle. He was told to go slow, he would speed. Told to go fast, he would go slow. He rear-ended other students about three or four times, and during the test he's the only one who dropped the bike.

He got 14 points (Out of 15, higher is worse), no one in our class failed.

Motorcycles are gay, don't you understand? Only poor people like Indians ride motorcycles.

If you crash on a motorcycle you will die. If you crash in a car you can survive, because your car loves you, it wants to protect you. Only a car will be comfy, fast, and beautiful for you, always. When you're riding 1000cc dildo in the rain you look dumb.

There's a reason why cars are more common in the US, where people have money. There is a reason why rich Arabs drive a Nissan Patrol, and not a Tenny.

Cars are just better in every way possible.

The problem with regular boots and style boots in general is that those soles aren't going to slide if they touch pavement, they're going to start peeling. Arguably, a new pair of cheap $60-80 work boots would be better than those jump boots simply because they may have a steel toe in them.

He then ripped a huge wienerschnitzel fart right on my $400 porous seatconcepts seat, leaving a brown streak all across it. He stood up and wiped his lederhosen off on my shift lever, yelled "IT'S OKTOBERFEST" to his wife (it was the middle of july) and skipped off, leaving me with my shit-stained T7. I then opened up my phone, browsed to /v/, and made a "DIE NAZI" thread.

Carbs are thankfully pretty easy. I would just find a parking garage or a lot. Bring my tool roll (My tool roll has everything) and have at it. This depends entirely on how big your current carb is and how big your new carb is, if you can slide it past the subframe (I can on my bike)

>>

My only concern about recommending an mt07 to a brand new rider is that it can power wheelie and it has no rider modes to mute the throttle response. If you whiskey throttle that bike in lower gears it can come out from under you. Because of that (and other reasons) I really think a triumph trident is a better bike for you.

You have it backwards. Heavy bikes are stable at high speed, but incredibly ungainly as low speed. The huge wheelbase and limited steering lock also hinder you. You WILL drop that bike and crush your foot as a brand new rider. Get like a Rebel 500 or something and put at least 10,000 miles on it before you go to a big tourer.

yeah screws for the lid. I just threw some WD40 on it, I've tapped the lid a few times, I'll try it with the screwdriver inserted. I really don't want to put the bike out of commission by having to extract these but it needs the fluid done. I read that getting brake fluid in the threads can make them real stuck and it's a pretty crusty master cylinder.

I’ve taken my T7 in mud and on steep, rocky inclines. It’s capable but it’s dicey. If I’m venturing into really rough stuff I’d rather take my WR250R. I used to ride a Honda Blackbird and one day on really poorly maintained roads in Maine I was struggling on the frost heaves when two guys on BMW adv bikes flew by. That’s when I realized that the upright position and lots of suspension travel of adv bikes is ideal for backroad touring. I’d get a Tracer 9 or Multistrada but I like being able to go into rough terrain sometimes and drop the bike without caring. Nobody buys an ADV bike to do hard enduro. If that were the goal I’d get a 300cc 2 stroke enduro bike and trailer it from riding spot to riding spot and have to change the oil every 5 hours.

if you live near an autoparts store, pick up something dedicated to penetrating rust.

I am just annoyed that grown men fall for these cheap marketing tricks.

I finished my course earlier this year and got an mt-03 as my first bike and couldn't be happier. I think it's a lot fun for what it is and once you get used to it you can swap out the throttle tube for r6 tube to wake it up.

For example, last time s.b. told me that the T7 is more reliable than other adventure bikes because it does not have ride by wire (electronics = bad, the old mantra).

Well ride by wire is actually used on every modern car and airplane, these systems are tested and proven again and again.

It is. That was kind of the point. Make a bike that the average person actually wants to ride.

>ride by wire is actually used on every modern car and airplane
If planes got the amount of maintenance I give my bikes, nobody would fly them.

what do you think will last longer?
His t7 or the...pretty much anything on my ktm. I've already experienced the dead throttle fault on mine.

is it a trick if the bikes is capable of doing whats advertised?
the owner being able to do it, is an entirely different issue

The T7 is already a very modern bike with an ECU, EFI and ABS.
But it is marketed as simple and reliable bike (not that it isn't).

This argument would be valid for older KLRs, but not for the T7. The electronic systems are developed externally by e.g. Bosch and sold by the millions with little to no room for errors.

>love/hate this guy but his advice about riding position is corrent
lmao yeah I like this guy he seems like kind of a butthead but I like it. I've been watching a lot of his stuff already. I'll exhaust all my beginner/intermediate options in my area before working up to the higher level schools. Thanks for the advice anon also all the other anons answering my newfag questions.

while it's running, spray tiny amounts of carb cleaner,wd40,degreaser,etc. close to every seal on the manifold & carb and listen for an RPM change.
