I can access Autodata with my school login. Post me a bike you want technical specs on and I'll download it and add it to a google drive folder. Be nice with it and don't send my Gmail any spam. I'll do this or as long as I stay awake or my login no longer works. I think it's just a temp one.

The Technical Specs sheet isn't going to be much different to what you'd already find in a workshop manual, but they're useful as a quick reference tool.

Best bike for 6'4 man with a 10k max budget?
I don't actually have 10k, I'd prefer to spend less, I'll be financing the bike, unless you tell me not to.
Are bikes cheaper when it's snowing?
Are dealers more likely to haggle in winter?
Or should I save all winter and make the purchase when the snow is gone?

Street/race style bike preferred, I don't like the look of cruisers or dual sports.
CC doesn't matter as long as it's over 250 so I can ride highway legally.

I was looking at the KTM RC390 but its actually kind of small and I changed my mind since KTM is going completely bankrupt and has reliability issues.

buy a used ninja 650/SV650(not sv650s), appropriate tall people bikes. Financing is generally a bad idea for other reasons but also financing a bike will make you carry crazy huge full coverage insurance which depending on your history can drive your rate up to fuckoff pricing

It's not my starter bike.
I've been riding a used (third owner) ninja 250 for 2 years.
I really enjoyed it, it just seemed a bit small.
I am VERY disappointed to see that every fucking bike is too small unless I get a fucking 650cc+.
I am also blown away to discover that ninja 400, 500, and even some 650 motorcycles only go like 10-20mph faster than ninja 250.
Is the ninja 250 just insanely fast for a 250 bike or does everything under 650cc have a speed limiter built in?
Like, shouldn't a 500cc motor push at least a quarter faster than a 250, not just 20mph?!

All the sportbikes are going to be cramped. If you’ve been on a 250 you’ll be able to handle a literpeter. Just don’t max out the speedometer the first day. FZ1 might work. Maybe an FJR, Versys 1000, maybe a BMW GS, HARLEY (touring line up), XR650L, you’ve got some choices, but a proper sport bike with a high seat, low clip ons, and high pegs is going to be miserable for anything longer than a few hours

Dual sports are extremely based and more fun than you know. You could even get something like a KTM690, husky 701, Tenere T7 and get the best of both worlds. And you could get them new and finance your life away

If you’re dead set on a sport bike get a GSX-R 750 and prepare to spend money customizing it so you fit better, or prepare to not want to ride it longer than an hour, maybe two.

Has anyone else noticed that kawasaki is exiting the under $5000 bike market while the euro's, chinese, and india are taking up the slack? Looking over the 2025 offerings Kawasaki has abandoned the 400cc's in the US (yet is keeping the Versys 300x?). Suzuki only has their sad GSX250R (over $5000msrp) unless you want a burgman 200. Yamaha kept their MT-03 (and the v-star 250 i guess). Honda still has their rebel but seems to have ditched the CBR300 in the US.

Meanwhile you have Triumph, BMW, and KTM offering sub $5000msrp options. Royal Enfield and Cfmoto/Benelli have cheaper options too. I get inflation and post-covid bullshit dragged up the prices, so is $6000 the new $5000? Also wtf is up with Kawasaki and why has Suzuki never seemed to care about the beginner market?
>>
>>28110113

Suzuki has dirt cheap beginner bikes outside the US market and they are quite successful.
Kawasaki in the Australian market sells the cheapest dirt bikes and I think the J4 have their area of who sells what the cheapest.

In this case of >>28110230, there isn't a gearbox so 1200Nm is what you get at the rear wheel.
An H2 in 3rd gear is also 1000+ Nm at the rear wheel if my calculations are right.

>>
>>28110244
Anon, that’s my espresso machine in the background on my kitchen counter.
>>
>>28110182
You can't really compare torque numbers between electric and gas motorcycles, at least not without doing a lot of calculations. I may have like 100Nm of motor torque which is on par with an R1, but gearing means that at the wheel it's much less (just over 500Nm). Because gas bikes have multiple gears you'd have to do calculations for each one, an electric bike may pull better in higher gears but the gas bike could have higher peak torque in lower ones.

>>28110230
The trick here is they're advertising the wheel torque, because the motor is in the wheel the motor and wheel torque are one and the same. Energica is pretty good at specifying both motor and wheel torque, so while they may only have 222Nm at the motor it's nearly 1200Nm at the wheel and comparable to the Verge (although with the Energica you have the option of modifying the gearing and getting even more torque if you wanted).

The nice things about bikes is that an additional thousand goes a long way, where in the car world than is not really the case.
Roughly speaking, an nx500 is 8.5k, a v-strom 650 9.5k transalp is 11k.
After that, the "exclusive" range starts at 14k. That 5.5k gap between a restricted adv and a multistrata v2.

You need to bring 20k to turn you Japanese sedan into a Euro one.
>>
>>28110311
yeah bikes are cheap, which is why the expensive ones are a different demographic, namely rich fair-weather riders and track dweebs. definitely a market for expensive touring bikes though like goldwang and GSA but most people can snag a used 10k bike for whatever needs they have

The 50cc two strokes were THE teenager bikes to have, especially the DT 50 LC. You saw them kited out with handmade exhausts, tiny bicycle tires, barely legal tiny headlights and always up to no good.
Cheap and plentiful, nowadays you are lucky to find one for less than 2k... for a 50cc. Some even ask 4k and 5k.
Pic related is 2k, how is a 16 year old kid going to buy it?

A while back, I stumbled upon an early 00's article about price increases after the Euro was introduced. Price increases were a common complaint back then. For the research they asked readers to mail in old receipts from shops to figure out if it was real or perceived.
Almost all snacks, drinks increased at least 30%, some items increased 70% compared to 5 years earlier while claimed inflation was 3% a year or thereabouts.
Short version, we all got raped, still get raped and if you compare this increases against the official inflation figures something simple like drinking a beer in bar is 70% more expensive than it was 1998.

To be fair wheel torque is the only thing they can advertise. I also haven't seen any manufacturers compare their numbers to gas bikes, saying shit like "more torque than a litre bike" (although there probably are some that have). They just give the specs and then it's usually the reviewers and news sites that do the comparison without knowing how shit really works.

I’ve ridden every bike in Indian’s line up and put 30k miles on a $32k Indian I bought in 2018 that lost 1/3rd of its value in 3 years. It was taken care of meticulously and still was completely clapped.

Go look at a used 2016 scout and compare it to a 2016 sportster 1200. One will still look new, and the other will be on its last leg.

Your don’t think it be like it is, but it do anon. Harleys been making bikes for 120 years and Polaris has been making bikes for less than 10. There refinement just isn’t there. “”Indian”” was nu-Harley before nu-Harley existed

I have a revised opinion of the sportster after getting it out on its own for a 3 hour ride with no traffic. I drove it on the Palisades Parkway all the way up and down both ways which is a curvy parkway. I found that the abysmal ground clearance and the weird steering geometry both prevented me from pushing the bike as fast as I would want to go. I didn't feel confident that I would be able to swerve if a deer popped out, or that I could take turns without running out of lean angle and flying off the road. The suspension is also pretty bouncy and bad and I did not like hitting bumps while turning one bit. Even though the 883 engine is slower than my 650 Honda, it wasn't even the engine that slowed me down the most, it was the rest of the bike.

Yet for all the lack of performance, it wasn't even comfortable compared to a regular bike. You'd think that a cruiser built for comfort and not speed should at least be comfortable. But after 3 hours I found that my tailbone was killing me, my spine hurts, and my hips were cramping from the weird leg angle. And the vibrations were really killing my hands and feet. I ride the same path and longer with the CB650, and I can ride that bike for 5-6 hours with absolutely no pain.

So in conclusion, if there's any Harley worth buying, it is certainly not a Sportster. I am not sure what the point of that bike even is, since it's bad in the city and heavy in traffic, but sucks on the highway, and sucks in the twisties too.

I had a FXLRS for a couple years. Put like 20k miles on it before I traded it for my road king. It was definitely based but I still prefer the RESPECT of a twin cam

You JUST KNOW that motherfucker was MADE IN AMERICA

Also the new sportster S is faster and quicker than an MT09 and this drives DBT (don’t be trans) fucking mad

the point is customizing it yourself and being retro. if you want something fast or comfortable you just get whatever stock bike does that niche best used for like 3k and pay someone else to fix it at the cost of being lame

Of course your spine hurts after riding a superlow 883 with 5” baby shocks meant for a 5’3 lesbian. Those are the worst.

That’s why all the dudes with RESPECT are riding 1200’s or Dynas with 14” shocks

Also, the sportster is actually the best bike Harley has ever made, it might be the best bike ever made by anyone, but you need to see it as a blank canvas, you need a vision.
