there is no actual market for most vehicles. they've taken the strategy of "you will buy what we tell you to like" instead of figuring out what customers want.

>you're a fun instagrammer
>you like memes
>you like fighting climate change
>you're different and not like everyone else
>here have this quirky van thing that ticks the required neo-liberal faggot boxes
>just finance it too, you don't need to actually ever own it or pay it off just keep paying interest instead
>>
>>28110781
>they still haven't released the US specs which means the range is probably terrible
Seems like a non starter to me. For the price I'd get a fully loaded Sienna or Pacifica plug-in hybrid.
>>
>>28110785
Considering VW has closed down factories in Germany, that doesn't seem like a sustainable business strategy.
>>28110786
I'd just get an entry level GLX
>>
>>28110781
I've seen some maintenance companies using these in cities. Think they've mostly been the short cargo versions though.
>>
>>28110803
you can't get that one in the US

What consumers want has been directly opposed to regulatory requirements for 6 years or more

Looks like it's time resurrect the chebby van.
>>
>>28110822
For $35k people would buy it because it's not just another crossover
>>
>>28110781
More companies need to copy the sprinter van design because we're all gonna be living in a van down by the food bank soon.
>>
>>28110825
Yeah it's the mystery machine way better than a boring crossover.

The government regulators that tell these companies what to do are actually just responding to the paid influence from said companies.

>hey make it illegal for us to keep selling gas guzzlers
>so everyone is forced to buy new cars that get 9 gorillion empegees
>then people can be mad at the government which they can't do anything about ever (lol your vote is worthless when all politicians are already bought and paid for by these companies)
>then we can turn around and say "hey it's not our fault the government forced us to do this! here's your new EV bro!"

We're all just livestock to these people. Buy old cars and fix them up. An overpriced use gas car is still a better buy than an overpriced EVcuckwagon or faggot hybrid with exploding batteries.
>>
>>28110859
>9 gorillion empegees
But only on flat terrain, with no wind, on low resistance OEM tires and 0w10 oil
Anything less and you immediately drop down to 20 because keklollmao boost :^)

yeah but the dash lets you track your real time fuel consumption so if you see it's using a lot more gas maybe just cut your trip short or cancel that family get-together, you can always skype them online through (((microsoft))) or (((apple))) software and plus you might get to see some nice advertisements for new products while you're trying to interact with your family members on a plastic screen in your dimly lit kitchen with the razor sharp knives a few feet away where it'd be just so easy to run them over your wrists and end this living nightmare but HEY THERE'S A PILL FOR THAT FEELING SO NO WORRIES BRO
>>

>hippie
no, but for democrats/kamala voters, purely califronia residence van, cant imagine it being used anywhere else. its for boomers that think theyre doing something nature friendly while countries get literally bombed via military actions and amount of air pollution is deadly. but hey, youve got vw buzz

>>Actually it barely goes 200 miles and costs $70k
as every german car

>Also you can't fix it yourself
boomers never fixed their cars. atleast not those who owned old vw buses
>>

In 1967, a low-trim VW bus cost $2667, $25,205 today. Don't need to say anything else really.
>>
>>28110781
bob, the cars for poor people are sold at the used lot down the street, not in the new car show room.
>>
>>28111204
$25k is a car for poor people

Yes. Now where's the $25k VW ID.Buzz? They're delusional to think people are going to spend GMC Yukon money on some EV minivan with sliding doors. It actually even starts thousands more expensive than a Yukon does, specifically, to use that example.

The original hippie van was also for rich kids. All hippies came from families with money, so they could fuck around their entire youth. Everyone else got a fucking job or had to go to Vietnam.
>>
>>28111312
yeah but the OG one didn't cost $70k accounting for inflation. It was an affordable people for regular people.
>>
>>28111288
I'm rolling on 50% depreciation in 2 years
>>
>>28111312
No it wasn’t. You’re thinking of “van life” today. It was so easy to get a job in the 60’s that no one feared being a bum for a few years. Tired of living with a group of friends, smoking pot, and hanging around all day? Just cut your hair, go to the nearest factory, and shake the bosses hand (firmly). You’d be making a middle class income before lunch.
>>
>>28110781
>I don't get it
You wait 3 years to buy it for half-off and then use it as a "town car"/commuter pod while having a thirsty truck or muscle car to use for long drives and hooning around.

If it were an EREV, it'd instantly double the practicality of the vehicle even with the pants-on-head pricing.
>>
Its not even a van, its small as fuck
>>
>>28112309
It's 3 rows. It's not that small
>>
ID Buzz is priced between 59k and 71k.

Toyota Sienna is 41-57k
Honda Odyssey is 44-52k
Chrysler Pacifica is 44-61k.
Kia Carnival is 37-51k.

ID is pricy since you don't get the 7-15k EV credit that would push it to competive ranges. Right now Oddyssey and Carnival are only FWD while Sienna and Pacifica come with AWD options.

Yeah right now Buzz pretty much has the market niche as being the only EV Minivan in US. Its pricing reflects that. If VW was to start building it in US and mark it down a bit it could be competive. Right now you buy it because it is quirky and unique.

Here in Europe its a bit more competively priced (53k without tax), albeit there are a lot of new compact three row EV crossover coming to compete.

I think VW's plan is to use the same platform for Minivan and a regular cargo van and to get scale benefits from that. And that obviously works better in EU where vans are more common.

Not a very good comparison because VW went from a scrappy Eurojank brand to its current self between that. I'd compare 60s VW Bus to something like Citroen e-Berlingo which you can get for like 32k without tax in Europe. Id Buzz is expensive even in its own ncihe.
>>
>>28110781
the strategy was that VW thought governments were going to outlaw ICE and hybrids, but that failed so now they have to try and sell to techbros
>>
> Mini was an economy car in 60s. Its revival was a premium small car.
> Mustang was an affordable pony car in 60s. Its revival is pushing 50k for V8.
> Fiat 500 was a barebones car in 60s. Its revival is premium priced city car.
> VW Van was a barebones 60s van. Its revival is a premium priced EV.

You bring in the old guns to ask a premium price. No doubt GM in a decade will have Grand Prix EV for 79,999 starting.
>>
>>28111306
objectively should have always been a hybrid just called the id bus and then have a EV trim called the buzz.
>>
>>28111509
Don't foget the eye contact. That's how you make it to managment.
>>
>>28113038
Can't really make an EV and a ICE effectively with same platform.
>>
>>28110781

is the ford maverick the only recent new car that consumers actually want to buy?
