As Yamaha shill I have to say the SV650 is one of the best looking middleweight bikes alongside with an R7 and a Z650RS. I hate Suzuki for not making more diffirent versions. This could've been a Lego bike

I hate Suzuki so fucking much it's unreal. Imagine the BIKE of all bikes.

You remove all the plastic and it looks like Ducati Monster, you put a cowl on and it's cafe-racer, or Katana. You put some fairings on and now it looks like RC51, you put another plastic on and you have a 900GP looking bike, or a supersport, or Chinese AI sloppa bike.
It could've been everything but it's just a dead naked.
>>

>This could've been a Lego bike
It is a Lego bike and has been for over 2, almost 3, decades now. I hate Suzuki for killing it on favor of the GSX8, however, I'm not a Suzuki boy but the GSX8T is retro done right

I got a question. How can a filer-less engine like mine last so long? Everyone always says metal in oil of any size is bad but when I check the oil I can see visible tiny aluminum specks when I shine a light to the dipstick. Yet the cylinders can still last about 20,000 miles cruising at 6k rpm. Do they just use lower tolerances during machining?
>>
>>28699732
3rd world type shit
>>
>>28699734
Thanks for the (You).
>>
>>28699732
Aluminum is so soft it doesn't catastrophically explode unless put to the limit, instead it consumes more and more oil until it's unreasonable to keep running. Sometimes, aluminum is so soft, components wear together long enough where it was previously burning oil could be rectified by long-term religious maintenance
>>
>>28699736
>long-term religious maintenance
That's what everyone says to do with these engines lol. Every 800 to 1k miles is the interval. You are the filter so to speak. Thanks.
>>
>>28699748
An oil filter would've cost the company $5 more, but instead they want you to buy a new scooter.

Who is responsible for an accident by law in your country/state in case when motorcycle rides over the speed limit and car turns without seeing it?
>>
>>28699987
In case court sees it as established that the driver went over the speed limit (due to police reports, witnesses, evidence and/or expert analysis), the car driver goes scot free, as he should.
Any speed limit, even the default ones, are choices made with any traffic scenario in mind; lane switching, breaking, accelerating... and TURNING vehicles.

If the rider went over the speed limit, he will be 100% at fault for the crash and his insurance will pay the car driver in full. As it should be, because fuck any driver who thinks they're to cool for speed limits and ends up crashing into other people.
>>
>>28700007
I think it's interesting because I was born in a county where it's completely opposite and now I live in a country where both drivers would be in fault. The reasoning is like that - a driver before executing the turn must make sure it's safe to do so no matter if someone goes fast, if there's an emergency vehicle going on red light or an aircraft landing on that lane. So the car drivers would always lose the court. Which does not help motorcycle riders a lot, since their bodies are getting destroyed anyways.

just drove through the mountains in my old commute route from a shitjob i had a few years back
My findings as a newbie biker
>thin waterproof pants are not windproof or coldproof, better wear thick ass cotton, denim, or leather pants underneath if you dont want to freeze your balls off
>make sure to wear tall shoes and pants that cover your entire legs or else you will lose tons of heat in the gap between your shoes and your pants
>neck gaiters are a must to protect your neck from the winds, and your nose and mouth from any cold wind getting into your helmet
>if neck gaiters are too thick you're gonna pull them down when you put your helmet on and it will be a pain in the ass to pull back up
>earplugs are nice to avoid wind noise in shitty helmets but you gotta be careful not to remove them when putting your helmet on which can be a pain in the ass
i may just buy a balaclava or something similar thats thin but warms up most of my head and is not pulled down whenever i put my helmet on

It's OK to not be the best at tools, but take your time thinking it all out as you're executing the task.

If you would like to save some cash, try getting a long nosed vice grip/channel lock to sneak into that crevice. Alternatively you could try fitting a US standard wrench that is slightly undersized of the nut to get a firm grasp on the slightly rounded edges.

What's actually the difference between ECE 22.05 and ECE 22.06?
I got my dad a Shark Modular Helmet on clearance, new in box, only 3 years old (manufactured 2022) for $73. He was excited, but he noticed it was only ECE 22.05 and he sort of wished it was the new standard. Still enjoying it and has been wearing it on all our rides and when he goes to work on his bike because it's really versatile (he also doesn't have any other helmets). I just wondered if it really even mattered. My helmet is only ECE 22.05 and it kept my noggin joggin after a 20mph moped crash 6 or so years ago I went out and got another one of the same model, my current helmet, and I intend to get that same model again when new colors for 2026 come out.

Should I not have gotten my dad that helmet? Should I be looking for something with the New safety rating for myself?
>>
>>28700270
You are supposed to do that. Just like you you adjust seat before driving, you are supposed to adjust your biku for comfort.

>finish up, doesn't even ask, grabs my helmet and jams

>>
>>28700315
No, 22.05 is fine. But next time buy helmet like battery or tyres, as close to date of manufacture as possible. Helmets expire in 5 years from date of manufacture.

Difference between 22.05 and 22.06 is rotational protection, so they made helmets rounder. If your helmet is round like an egg, it will pass 22.06.
>>
>>28700315
[AI Overview]
The main difference is that ECE 22.06 is a much more stringent standard for motorcycle helmets due to its more varied and realistic testing methods. Key upgrades include multiple impact tests at different speeds and angles, rotational force tests, and testing of all accessories like visors and intercoms. In contrast, ECE 22.05 focused on fewer, less severe tests, such as basic shock absorption and impact resistance.

ECE 22.06 key features
>More impact tests: Helmets are tested for impacts at various speeds and angles, not just at specific points.
>Rotational force tests: New tests are included to measure and reduce the rotational forces that can cause rotational acceleration of the head.
>Accessory testing: All accessories, like sun visors and intercom systems, must be tested and approved as part of the helmet's safety certification.
>More realistic scenarios: The testing is designed to simulate a wider range of real-world accidents more accurately than the previous standard.
ECE 22.05 key features
>Fewer testing locations: Focused on specific, limited areas of the helmet.
>Less severe impact tests: The impact tests were less rigorous than those required by 22.06.
>No accessory testing: Accessories were not part of the safety certification process.
>Basic protection focus: Primarily tested for shock absorption, strength, and wear resistance.

=====================

In the real world it doesn't matter so much if you don't crash. tell your dad to simply not crash.
>>
>>28700326
>Helmets expire in 5 years from date of manufacture
only due to deterioration when exposed to the elements and specifically UV light, but if a helmet is sitting in a box for 200 years it will still be usable.
>>
>>28700332
I'd say the glue and resins in the shell expire as they come in contact with air. Air is also an element.
