I'm just never putting 0w-20 water in my engine

the same engine was listed for 5w-30 just 10 years ago with identical tolerances.
0w-20 or thinner is a scam to make your engine wear out faster.
>>
>>28706904
oh wow, daring today?
what new controversial take will you be posting to your blog next?
>>
>>28706904
Oil alone is NOT enough, that's the real scam
>>
>>28706924
This display is dumb because 99% of engines have 0 gears in them, the ones that do (i4s and v6s with balance carts, diesels) are pressure fed rather than splash or tooth to tooth transfer.

zipper merges should be done at the end where the lane starts merging
>>
>>28706924
I remember those spinny things as a kid.
Lucas Oil is 100% advertisements and 99% garbage.
>>
>>28706947
sure and theoretically zipper merges work perfectly fine at any road posted speed limit too.
in reality people's behavior is not mechanistic and your opinions on the matter are irrelevant
>>
>>28707018
But does their engine stop leak work? The bottle says it does!
>>
>>28706904
>never put 0w-20 water in my engine
>i'll put 5w-30 pisswater instead
>>
>>28707052
hey you wanted a controversial opinion i thought that's pretty relevant
>>
>>28706906
It is a pretty goofy ass take because 0W-20 can take alot of abuse

>>28707408
This people have this misconception that 30 weight is some based racing oil that's gonna hold up at super high temps or something, meanwhile they've got a slow ass, low horsepower economy engine that would be fine on 0W-20
>>
>>28707364
Imagine if the bottle said that it won't work for shit.
>>
>>28706939
>transmission
Nigga you illiterate
>>
You got that toyota 2gr v6?
>>
>>28706904
>0w-20

Why are you using thick ass oil unc? My car uses ow-8
>>
My motorcycle has pretty tight tolerances and it uses 10w 50 so I don't think tolerances care that much
>>
>>28706904
>check oil at 5k miles with pic rel
>still looks brand new
Works on my machine
>>
>>28709976
That just means it wasn't even circulating.
>>
>>28709984
>lower viscosity oil has a harder time circulating
:(
>>
>>28709988
*whooosh*
You heard that?
>>
>>28706904
Get with the times boomer, Toyota is using 0W-16 now. Some new BMWs even use 0W-12
>>
>>28710018
Goyota uses 0w-8 on their new Corollas
>>
>>28709992
There has to be a joke for it to go over my head
>>
>>28706904
Why is 0w30 not really a thing? Next step up for ILSAC: GF-6A is 5w30. I have Canadian winters here but I also want a bit more protection for the engine.
>>
>>28706924
I was thinking of putting this in my pressure washer. Does anyone know how this handles in splash lubed engines?
>>
>>28710048
Don't talk shit about my senpai Toyota-san, you baka gaijin

The solution is 0w20 in winter and 5w30 in other seasons. My shitbox conveniently leaks it's oil so I just start buying 5w30 to top-up as winter ends and gradually convert. The performance difference of 0w20 and 5w30 on a cold engine start at -40'c is undeniable.
>>
>>28710061
The way I see it I'm not doing any high load driving during winter so it doesn't need more protection. How often are you redlining the piss out of your vehicle in Canadian winter?
>>
>>28710048
That's a only on the hybrids though and the hybrid are all very low strung. Hybrids in general struggle keeping the oil up to temperature and a cold 0w8 is probably thicker than 0w20 in a regular engine
>>
>>28710269
Niggas not knowing how to read the weight is hilarious
>>
>>28706904
My car is 0W30 is it also a scam?
The car is at 250k km though
Skyactiv-d 1.5 from 2016

>Why is 0w30 not really a thing?
It definitely is a thing here in Europe. My diesel Volvo uses that.

Doesn't even matter what kind of oil you use, that's the real scam
>>

Additives do make a difference

the real scam is making you change oil more than once a year. doesn't matter how much you drive. once a year.
