I modified an RX8 for rally and after running for a second, the wheel hubs broke. Also, is this normal for suspension? I'm not really a mechanic for suspension, and these wheel hubs are supposed to be WRX hubs, but I don't see any part number on them and they don't quite look like replacement WRX hubs?

Anyone have a second to help me trouble shoot locating new hubs? Preferably capable of taking more abuse?

If you need help with hubs then why are you posting pics of coil-over shocks (?)

Because there are two questions in that post if you read it correctly. And 4chan takes 60 seconds to post multiple photos.

I will tell you this.
Youre running the wrong springs. So when they unload they separate from the mount plate and are no longer centered around the shock and then grind on the shock until the suspension has compressed enough to pop them back into place.

Should have posted that Pic first to clarify the issue.

Straighten it, weld it back together, add a brace underneath it like pic related.

It's all relative, senpai.

I'd like to get ohlins. But because I'm not a suspension guy, I'm not sure how to go about replacing these.

Why the fuck is the lower mount point for the shock just sticking out from the knuckle? No wonder it broke.

No idea. This was a custom build from a mechanic that "builds rally cars." I'm more of an engine and interior guy. So when I saw this, I had my doubts. It ran for 20 minutes on completely flat surfaces when this happened.

I would like to replace this with something proper for rally. The car runs on flat dirt locally, but I'd like to do more aggressive runs in Nor Cal and Oregon with this car (this is my friend's car, and we will be both using this to do amateur rally, btw).

Unfortunately I don't think that would get us through a stage, let alone a yearly championship.

That's basically what the factory did. Pic related. Your guy's Mark I design tried to do without the support.

Ya do that.
Just truss the shit out of it.
Eventually it will hold together and something else will break first.

Ive dealt with many race sanctioning bodies. Tech inspection is just some dude going "ya, that looks good"..
>be consistent. If one brace cones out at a 10° angle, make the other have 10° to match.
>dont grind welds. If you grind welds, grind it smoothly so it looks cast.

Ok, I'll try and weld it.

But for the sake of replacing the part down the road, what steering knuckles should I be looking at? Are there brands that stand above the rest?

Ohlins are super easy to swap into the car, just get the pre-built kit instead of the one that comes in pieces.
