(picrelated, I'm the one ahead, both cars are going in the same direction, LHD if that makes a difference)I was driving on a curved road at night with two parallel lanes, I'm ahead of the other car and his lights are annoyingly bright in my wing mirror. Both of us are in our lanes, not drifting into the other lane. I brake so he will go ahead, and immediately (quicker than I think a human could react), the relative positions of the cars staying exactly the same, he brakes, and then starts honking like I cut off his car. Will anti-collision brakes trigger if the cars are in different lanes, and not going to collide if both cars stay in their lanes, but one is still in front of the other due to being on a curve?
Yeah. As a matter of fact, my car's owner's manual actually calls this out.
>>28728719Huh, must've given him a shock, wonder how often it happens.
did you fuck with them? if some retard beeps at you out of their own stupidity you've gotta fuck with them.
>>28728710Possibly, but if they are using driver assists they're either a dickless cuck or a woman so don't feel bad about it.
>>28728754Nah, just ignored him. He actually sped past after that (still honking) which is what I wanted.
>>28728764should have raced him, fag.
>>28728710I had my girls subie lock it's brakes at a traffic circle. I like the auto brake system but that was it for me on it I drive my shit box no auto brakes and enjoy it far more
>>28728741I've never had it trigger during a turn, but when I had a nu-car it would always think I didn't slow down fast enough behind people turning off into parking lots.
>>28728710Yeah, my POS Mazda will slam on the brakes for cars in the lane next to me. It seems to be completely random when it will trigger the automatic braking because I've let it nearly slam into cars directly in front of me. It's just bad jeet coded programming that will just lock up the brakes randomly. Fucking pisses me off that it needs to be turned off manually with each engine start and it takes like 4 screens to get to the option.Never make the mistake of buying a new car, this nanny tech shit has gone WAY too far and the jeets coding it are doing a shitty job as usual.
>>28728719Holy shit so the car companies are aware this tech is flawed and still put it in their cars? Exactly the situation in your pic has caused my car to slam on the brakes while traffic was going 80+ nearly causing massive freeway pile up that would've likely killed some drivers as well as myself. This has happened on two occasions, it will lock up the brakes and cause serious speed wobble and take me down from 80mph to 35-40mph until it gives me control of the car again. You can imagine the cars behind me flipping out and nearly crashing. I can't believe the world has gone to such shit in every possible way, how can society be this retarded? They fuck up everything including putting retard tech in cars.
>>28729568Honda's lane assist is like this too and can't easily be turned off. If you try to make a lane change without signaling it locks the brakes when it detects you crossing a lane line. Full on locks them, like who the fuck could think that was a safe feature to implement? Was driving a rental Chevy recently and it had automatic high beams that couldn't be turned off, so I'm driving down the highway and the high beams were flashing on and off as oncoming cars passed and it looked like I was purposely strobing my high beams. Luckily didn't get pulled over for it but I looked like a dick and there was nothing I could do about it.
up
>>28728710>Did I trigger another car's automatic brakes?I'm thinking of an idea to work with orange reflective dots and see if I can get tailgaters with modern cars to force their autonomous safety systems to hammer the brakes by making it think it's veering towards a traffic cone, or make the car think the driver is speeding towards an oncoming car.
these systems suck, and they're even worse when shoved into models that they don't belong with. my gr corolla beeps at me all the fucking time because it thinks I'm about to rear end someone when I'm just engine braking and haven't needed to touch the brake pedal yet
>>28729572Nucars are GAY
>>28729572>says the NPC who bought it
>>28728710My mom’s Camry did this while I was using the radar cruise. That was my first and last taste of faggy nucar bullshit and completely cemented my opinion against them.
>>28732854mine doesn't have auto braking thankfully but it does have a very piercing beeping warning and a big BRAKE!! message on the screen to brake if it thinks a collision is imminent. there's been a few times where the car ahead is turning off the road and i adjust my speed so i can glide past right as he gets out of the way, but my car will alert me anyway.i think i now know what it's like when i read those posts about anons' wives or gfs riding shotgun, gasping and anon immediately thinks they're about to get hit but no they were watching something on their phone
>>28732513I didn't know it was this bad and it's an absolute deal breaker if a car has this from now on. I can't sell this jeet programmed POS fast enough.
>>28728710>>28728741I have a brand new Toyota and never had this happen on turns, including sharp ones like your pic. It's probably only an issue if the camera can't detect where the lane lines are.
>>28732407>>28729572>blaming the car for something that was obviously the tesla's driver faultpoorfags will do anything except take responsibly
So how do I find a new car that will not taking driving powers away from me?
>>28733600I want to buy a new Toyota/lexus some day, is it possible to turn this nanny shit off permanently? I'd even be willing to remove some fuses if that'll do it.
>>28734640you can still turn off pretty much every safety feature although you have to turn it off every time you start the car
>>28734677You'd need to find someone able and willing to completely reprogram it and you'd void your warranty.
>>28732407Why was the first instinct of that white pickup driver to flash his beams at a fucking car pileup
>>28728710Older just looked at pic and thred.A normie slammed their brakes on in a slight bend this is normal.
>>28734693>although you have to turn it off every time you start the carSo I have to spend 5 minutes navigating menus each time I want to go somewhere. Fucking genius. Love the modern era.
>>28734677>>28734897You can turn off most of it in the menu. I'm constantly turning off lane assist on straight roads so it stops beeping at me when i have no hands on the wheel. That's really the only one I've had issues with and only on straight roads out midwest. I end up turning it back on tho afterwards so I can just let it do 90% of the driving on long boring roads where it's low risk + adaptive cruise.
>>28734677>>28734693idk about nu-yota, but nu-bmw can disable everything except the audible aspect of the frontal collision warning system. and this isn't an "every time you start the car" shit, like auto start/stop. you just do it once in the menus, and maybe if something resets or updates, you'll have to go back and adjust the custom settings
>>28728710based. nucar appliance users deserve to be killed by their automatic """systems""" failing. fuck these assholes.
