Admit it. It looks good.

Didn't Hyundai hire a bunch of 2000s era Audi designers years ago?
>>
>>28731198
Sounds like a great choice if true
>>
not a fan of the exhaust tips but other than that it looks pretty slick. also a warning that there is one turbo autist on here that spergs out everytime someone mentions korean cars and will absolutely destroy this thread with his shitposts when he sees it.

Both Kia and Hyundai are using the same german consultants.

looks good but also looks BIG

>>
>>28731198
>>28731266
yes since 2008. Kia, Hyundai, and Chinese carmakers are still poaching German engineers, designers, and the like — and it looks like they’ll keep doing it forever.

That "lip spoiler" aught to be there on the sedan but looks out of place on the wagon because it isn't even trying to be a cam back, the lines should of flowed around to make a flat belt.

I like wagons but they need something more classy and boxy. This is busy and inelegant. I do think luxury sedans make much more sense as wagons and hatchbacks now.

The head of design for both Hyundai and Genesis has been SangYup Lee. He's the guy known for designing the Camaro and the stingray corvette that the current C8 corvette draws from and more recently the guy behind the 'DNA' of Hyundai and the Genesis brands.

There were euro guys back in the days but they had left the company after SangYup joined the Hyundai group in 2016 and eventually took over the design studios.

To add to this, when SYL first came on board he shaped the designs of Genesis we know today - the dual lights and chiseled grill and swept backs. The G90 Shooting Brake concept is a continuation of this design.

The reason why some say they poached euro designers is because they had hired SYL's former teammate when they were both doing work for VW/Bentely/Lamborghini - Luc Donckerwolke. Luc actually left Hyundai shortly after SYL started wining industry awards as SYL was clearly the talent needed to drive the brand forward.

They are highly likely to come out. The last 'concept' version shown a few months ago in Korea was basically a production ready version when people at the show inspected it up close. There were no fake parts, blocked off grills, actual emissions control apparatus was installed, etc. It was a fully functional car that they drove into the show which means they are planning on a production run.

The only outstanding question is which markets will get it. Genesis doesn't sell the numbers that the other incumbent luxury brands do, they are still in the growing phase, thus they most likely will limit it to select markets.
>>

>looks out of place on the wagon
Gotta be some Windtunnel-backed data to substantiate it, otherwise management would have shitcanned it.
That's gotta represent at least a few hundred USD in cost, per unit..which is significant.

The thing is most (if not all) electric cars can't do a full lap of the ring without running out of power, over heating, or having to drive at a efficient speed (aka, slow). The IONIQ 5 N did two laps with no issues. This is a stock car that an actual random customer bought and not a factory supported car either. Pretty impressive.
>>
>>28731852
>The IONIQ 5 N did two laps with no issues. This is a stock car
Yep.
Misha even remarked upon this, iirc.
>>
>>28731826
Is this bait or are you retarded? That's a hatchback
>>
>>28731817
I don't know if it will come to the states. If the Hyundai factory that was planned to be built in Georgia wasn't raided by law enforcement, our relationship with Hyundai is shaky at the moment. What a shame, it would have been a great opportunity to bring more car manufacturing back to the states.
>>
>>28732151
gooks were getting smooshed in machinery. no one would have known about the 400 illegal aliens there if it weren't for OSHA
>>
>>28732275
None of them were illegal aliens, it's more complex than that. The workers arrested were technicians, engineers, operators etc. Unfortunately we have to bring them here, there are very few Americans with the know how to create and operate these plants, we need them to teach us. They were here under ESTA since the L1 visas that would be ideal are very difficult to obtain, and have a decent chance of denial. For this reason ESTA waivers have been used like this for decades by many companies (Honda for example). The government has been aware of this, but now it's an issue? It's clear the raid was done as a publicity stunt, it all started because a politician reported the plant to boost her campaign.
>>
>>28732362
>the government has been doing this for decades but now it's an issue?
this is a very bad line of reasoning

Japanese cars are an order of magnitude uglier than Korean cars today. They weren't always, but the combination of Japanese companies completely shitting the bed and Koreans hiring competent designers and letting them take risks has built a gulf of a gap. Too bad about the actual engineering
>>
>>28732389
To be fair, I don't disagree with the reason for the government doing this. The law should have been handled long ago, Hyundai isn't innocent either. But the raid doesn't address this, that wasn't it's intention in the first place.

In isolation it looks nice...but it also looks fuckhuge. Cars are getting so fat and we buy into them with these photos lacking a sense of scale.

Cars this size just don't excite me, regardless of the power and tech they may have. Scale down to 80% and I'm into it.

>Cars are getting so fat and we buy into them with these photos lacking a sense of scale.
Yeah this is technically a bigger g90, absolutely enormous but it's the kind of car that should be enormous. Think s class wagon
>>
>>28734285
The size isn't out of place, it's a luxury hatch after all. Unfortunately it seems like there is no longer any love for small cars anymore, the Honda fit was discontinued years ago. Buying new cars is for parents and old people.

Those dual bar headlights look at LOT better on the new models than they did before.
>>
They need to have an option for rear facing kid seats in the back. I have a Tour X wagon and have to jam my three kids in the backseat. If they could spread out a little and one or two could sit in the very back like the old wagons it would be perfect. My friend’s mother had it in her Volvo when we were kids and we loved sitting back there making faces at drivers behind us at red lights.

Korean cars generally look pretty good its too bad they explode when they hit 100,000 miles. BMW should hire whoever is doing the styling
