>just found out the new turbo s is hybridIm too broke for one so it doesnt affect me but man what the fuck
All high performance gas engines are going hybrid. Corvettes went there with their top end trim ZR1X. I believe all of the current Ferrari trims are hybrid. It's honestly a waste of performance not to -- the gas engine can charge the battery when you aren't flat out on the throttle, and that battery charge can be used by the front wheels for extra horsepower plus AWD stability.
>>28739339It’s a phenomenal piece of car. But even the 971s are basically end of life now becuase repairing the hybrid is $10k-$30k when it breaks. I hope Porsche isn’t serious
The 992 generation is approaching its end and i really hope the GT2RS will not be a hybrid but i fear it will be. Either way, the turbo s is an absolutely godly car, its often considered the best all around car in the world
>>28739339This was the first cool hybrid. If you're going for a track-worthy performance car hybrid makes more sense anyway. Combine that with the fact that 911 is supposed to be a daily-drivable supercar and I don't see a problem with it at all. This is coming from an autist who hates pretty much every sports car made in the past 15 years because they are too cucked with technology.
that's it when it comes to the production car arms race. gotta keep up with everyone else's numbers at any cost even if it makes your car unrecognizable
>>28739375911 has been an awkward tribute car to a real 911 for several generations. This RUF from 2017 mogs the fuck out of an actual 911.
>>28739378>700 hp>2700 lbs>interior designed by German with full-blown autismit's liderally perfect
The turbos themselves are hybrid. It can spin up the turbines at low rpm and then re-gen at high RPM instead of using a wastegate. It's actually a cool system once you grow out of 'hybrid = bad'. I'd rather take an NA 911 still but Porsche has a clever system here
>>28739386wow. that is fuckin horrible.alcantara is best used sparingly.this is just barfing fake suede everywhere and is not a good look.
>>28739398yep it's pretty bad and I think those seats are the dingleberry on top.
>>28739399Nah I actually like contrasted centers like that and plaid is a nice touch, it just doesnt work with all that fuckin alcantara everywhere else lol
on the bright side, the 992.2 turbo s is the first non electric porsche that finally surpassed the 918
>>28739378>nooo that car is LOWERED that's for rIcErS!! rrreeeeeEEEEeEeE!!!
>>28739339I thought Portia doing hybrid drive trains was gay at first. But after driving the Carrera S. If no one told me it was a hybrid, I probably wouldn't have known. I can only imagine the cost of replacing an electric assisted turbo though. Or the motor attached to the dual clutch.
>>28739339>what the fuckwell, performance is 'the fuck'like the zr1x, they aren't doing it for economy reasons
The way they implemented the e-turbo is the exact kinda wacky interesting shit I lovethat is to say, bmw could never
>>28739339Yeah it'll also be super fucking heavy. 991.2 is the last great turbo S before the government stepped in and forced Porsche to adhere to much stricter safety standards. Reminder: All 992s can be kill switched by your government.
>>28739339It's an interesting set up.The Turbos have EV motors that help them spool up at lower RPMs.Means you can use a larger turbo without lag.Bigger turbos means more boost or much lower IATs at the same psi level. The motor can also use the spinning turbo to generate electricity.Technology I'd assume is inspired by F1.But I can only only imagine the cost to replace would be around $7,000+ each. And since turbos are super hot. I can't imagine that electric motor lasting very long inside. So fake and gay
>>28739339>>just found out the new turbo s is hybridenjoy maintaince longterm on that sucker when u cant rebuild the turbos or hybrid systemi think dehybriding cars will become popular
